Christians, why does prayer ever need to be said out loud?

God already knows our thoughts and knows what we are going to pray before we even pray it. Plus Jesus said that the best way to pray was in your closet away from everyone else. So why does prayer ever need to be said out loud? Why do we need public prayer?

I would guess that it helps to bond the community and strengthen faith...

Preacher's Neice: Isn't that the point of asking the question? To get an answer from you guys?

Prayer is a great time to get it OFF your mind. It's not just telling God over and over Again. It's A good thing to pray in public in front of people. Some people don't like to because they would like to keep their prayers privet, that's not bad either. When you pray in front and to the public you are doing multiple things, for one you are giving them a chance to hear what your going through so they can relate and pray for you in privet. And another thing you are doing is telling other about what you have on your mind and issues you are going through. And another is your are praying with people that agree with what you have to pray about. The reason he said that was because people tend to get distracted VERY easily. That's fine because we are human. People pray in public now because of the reasons i listed above. And many churches now have this thing where at the end of service you can go to the front of the church and there will be some people from a prayer team or something around that name. It's where they all split up and you tell them what you need to be prayed about. Once you tell them they will sit down and write it and pray at night for you. They will also pray right there with you. If you're church doesn't have that i think you should look into starting a prayer team. It helps allot!

Have a blessed day,

I do understand your point of view. But the Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Our words are very powerful. When God created the world, He didn't just think it, he SPOKE it into existence. If by "public" prayer, you mean group prayer in church, the Bible also says that one will put one thousand angels to flight, and two will put ten thousand to flight. There is power in numbers. "Whenever two or more of you gather in my name, there I am with you." Matthew 18:20 Also, prayer is not just simply asking God for what you want. Being a Christian is having a personal relationship with God. Treat it as if He were sitting right beside you. Because He is always with you. Talk to Him like you would talk to one of your friends. Confide in Him, confess the wrong you have done, tell Him you love Him, talk to Him about the things you need. He loves you and will provide for you if you trust Him. Do a google search for what the Bible says about the mouth and the tongue. As I said, our words are powerful.

the only prayer we need to say aloud is around our dinner table before we eat,or if someone ask us to pray for them we should no matter where we are

what God was saying is not to go out on the streets where everyone can hear us

and say our prayer,s,,he said to enter into a closet and pray in private.

Preachers Niece : "If you WERE are "christian", you wouldn't have to ask this.

You would know-it's obvious that you DON'T know."

That makes me SO grateful and happy that I am NOT a Christian. For If becoming a Christian and finding God means that I have to become as condescending as you I would much rather hand with Satan and be a nice person. No need to wonder why Christianity is losing membership from MOST of its sects to all of the non-Christian religions.

My personal prayers may or may not be said aloud.

Corporate prayer, being a social function,is as much for the others who are listening as it is for the one praying.

When you pray in public, out loud, the person who is praying is presenting the whole group in front of God, and everyone else is agreeing with them. It is good to pray in a group. Also, it is good to pray out loud when you are alone, too. Jesus is my best friend. So why would i not talk to him? Jesus isn't just there to ask him for stuff... you can talk to him like a person, i mean, he is ALWAYS there!

Hope this helps!

God bless,

=:-)~

it is in the bible, however the bible explains itself once you seek the scriptures and Jesus spoke in parables. (a narrative with a heavenly which skill). So, whilst the Lord stated to wish in private he meant to no longer to be like the Pharisees. they could speedy and look very unhappy confronted, so human beings would desire to be certain what they have been doing. attempt interpreting those verses returned. They prayed overtly for interest. Jesus stated as them hypocrites i've got self belief. So, i do no longer see everywhere in the bible the place the Lord act as though praying with a chum or a companion is misguided. The bible additionally says, the place there is two or extra collected in prayer he's in the mist. i do no longer understand what he meant via this. particular, the Lord di say it is all we could pray, using fact the Lord already understand what we desire and desire,if or no longer it is his will, however the bible did no longer say we can't consult from the Lord and clarify my concern to him. We consult from God in prayer. as though he replace into sitting precise beside me listening. I hear truthful, christian instructors on family radio say that may no longer something incorrect.

I can read sheet music but it's not the same as hearing it played by a good musicians in front of a crowd that appreciates the music. We are social creatures, when we do something together it has extra emotional impact.
