Christians: Wouldnt you like to know What do atheists make of?

One of the worlds most famous, notorious atheists ANTONY FLEW renounced atheism and believes there is a god, not to mention he was well versed and educated in atheist ways and was actually a college professor as well, so he was not some small scale commoner who thought they knew it all, this guy was actually up there with the bigs talking down on God yet he saw the light and has been redeemed.

Isnt that proof of God's power and existence, that even the worst atheists can see the light?

Here is the proof Atheists" http://www.existence-of-god.com/flew-abandons-atheism.html

He even said scientific discoveries changed his mind http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6688917/

So he used science to conclude there is a god, get over it guys the game and lies are over, your SCIENTIFIC discoveries lead an atheist to believe there is a god not that there isnt one.

If someone found proof that there was no God, would every Christian (or other religion) drop everything and say "Wow, I must be wrong."? I'm going to assume not.

Any belief is a belief for a reason. I'm glad that he found something to believe in, but just because he did does not mean that thousands of people are going to change their mind in an instant.

Also, "worst atheists"? Watch your phrasing; =] were it said the other way around I'm sure you'd take offense.

Best of luck!

I can't say I've ever heard of him before now. What was he "notorious" for? How was he "the worst"? Side thought: atheism is some kind of crime now?

Also, the only 'proof' that you've provided is apparently proof that this "notorious" man decided that there is a god because he was bewildered by DNA. Belief of any man isn't proof of anything except that man's belief.

And, you make it sound like it's somehow remarkable that a college professor believed in the existence of an almighty something or other? Just... how backwoods are you?

And, it's not like he's become Christian (the article specifically says he hasn't). He's just decided that he thinks there's A god. Oh wow. A deist professor. Never seen a few thousand of those before. It's not like he's suddenly out there foaming, "Hallelujah! The Earth is 6000 years old! The Big Bang and evolution are EEEEEVIL! Repent all you sinners!"

It's a big 'so what'. I have a LOT of very smart friends (and a very smart girlfriend) who figure that there is some kind of god. This is not a new input. It isn't earth-shattering. He's allowed to believe; I'm allowed to have doubt.

I do suspect that I'd like his god, if he turned out to be real; yours, I'm not so sure about.

"Isnt that proof of God's power and existence..."

So let me get this straight. A 'famous' atheist, who half the atheists in the world have never even heard of – has changed their own mind, and become spiritual again.

How exactly does this prove God's existence?

What happens when a famous Atheist kills their wife? Does this automatically mean all atheists are working for Satan and evil? Or perhaps, if one turns to Islam, this must mean Islam is correct?

*Edit*

I just found out his subject is Philosophy (Facepalms)

What is of interest to me is his willingness to change his mind while in search of truth. His conversion from atheism to deism is evidence that he did have an open mind and was willing to allow truth to govern his beliefs. We all should learn something from that.

I personally think if he had not died in April of this year, that he would have eventually returned to atheism. DNA is a marvelous molecule that could easily suggest intelligent design if one does not examine the chemistry behind it. I think if Professor Flew had time to spend with the likes of Dr. Kenneth Miller and Dr. Craig Venter, he would have changed his mind again.

While I do not model my beliefs on the works of people like Professor Flew, Professor Dawkins or Rabbi David Wolpe, I do respect them for their willingness to search for truth and their courage to accept it when they find it. Emulating that quality of theirs is something I think all of us can benefit from, theist and atheist alike.

No, I really wouldn't care to hear their explanations for God's power. Most just babble incoherently anyway. I see grown men on here, old enough to be grandfathers, just ramble on like 10 year olds. A life time of serving Satan takes it's toll and it shows.

Why do you care what other people believe?

Flew now believes God might exist, not the Christian God and not a God that intervenes in human life. So what? His belief is only his belief it is not "proof" of God's existence.

Non believers still non believe. Believers still believe. Neither has any proof for their beliefs. Flew's beliefs do not change mine.

An atheist is any person who does not think in god, and god is the only dependable on your construction, and on account that the Christian god it sounds as if did not want a writer averting an unlimited regress, he would not think in any bigger writer for that reason making him an atheist.
2010-06-25 09:39:20 UTC
No, it's proof that somebody can go from being an atheist to being a deist. Conversions happen between different groups all the time.

By your own logic, the millions of people who went from being a Christian to being an atheist would be proof of God's non-existence.
2010-06-25 09:41:00 UTC
I don't make anything of him.

Why should I? he made nothing of himself, but a plaything and tool of the religulous.

Flew did not use science to conclude anything as he is not a scientist. He used his liking for christains to do so. He has said himself that it was the moral argument which persuaded him. IOW, he got all warm and fuzzy around christains.
2010-06-25 09:40:52 UTC
ROFL, I guess I'm supposed to care what an old man that I've never met or even heard of, believed.

You are the only one that seems to put so much stock in what others believe.
2010-06-25 09:38:28 UTC
So he used science to prove God's existence. Now don't you all want to be Christians? You're not interested in proving God's existence to the world but rather converting the world to Christianity.

Religion is a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception and/or expression of reality. Distortions in perception may affect all five senses. It is a serious social disorder. In most severe cases those affected are willing to kill and die or enthusiastically SUPPORT THOSE WHO DO. They behave very silly and irrational in full obedience to the dogmas of their respective Church brands while FORCING their views on the rest of us!

Christians never believe that the Bible means what it says; they are fully convinced that it says only what their preachers tell them. That is why the Bible is still functional today! The Bible writers developed a Mafia way of telling people under their control to OBEY their ministers in all things. The Early Church Fathers predicted that Christianity in general wouldn't mind the lack of a direct face to face contact with “God” as long as they have access to an exclusive book about God. The Bible writers picture God to be so mean that the idea of reading only the nicer stories about him is the best deal that any Christian can really bargain for!

Deuteronomy 17:12-13 (NIV) The man who shows contempt for the judge or for the PRIEST who stands ministering there to the Lord your God MUST BE PUT TO DEATH! You must purge the evil from Israel* (*it is an EVIL worthy of death in the eyes of the Bible God to question anything that ANY of his religious leaders say or do!). ALL THE PEOPLE WILL HEAR AND BE AFRAID, AND WILL NOT BE CONTEMPTUOUS AGAIN* (*Holy Mafia talk!).

Act 5:1-11 (NIV) Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the SPIRIT OF THE LORD?* (*by withholding some of the Church offering money) Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door and they will carry you out also.” At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband! GREAT FEAR SEIZED THE WHOLE CHURCH AND ALL WHO HEARD ABOUT THESE EVENTS.

The Mafia is known to give out a few slow bleeding warnings before cutting anybody down, not so God the Holy Ghost! Failure to pay the FULL tithe and offering to the Church treasury can cost the life of some moron Christian. Also, failure to eat the flesh of Jesus and drink his blood without any discernment can kill them too.

1 Corinthians 1:29-30 (KJV) For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh DAMNATION to himself, not discerning THE LORD'S body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and MANY SLEEP* (*have died! That’s Holy Mafia talk! Any Christian getting sick needs to wonder if they are not screwing the Holy Communion.)

Revelation 2:23 (NIV) I* (*Jesus) WILL STRIKE HER CHILDREN DEAD* (*for being in the wrong Church). Then ALL THE CHURCHES WILL KNOW* (*more Mafia talk. Your Church probably doesn’t know yet because Jesus didn’t start killing any children!) that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds!* (*the bit on “grace” was invented by Saint Paul. Jesus never mentioned any “grace” AT ALL and in all the Bible stories he’ll be the Judge! Christians hardly read the Bible. They pay their preachers to do it for them!)

Christianity is surviving because hardly any Christian drops dead the moment they “sin.” They get sick and die like anybody else. This fact alone is used to show how LOVING AND FORGIVING IS THE BIBLE GOD! What better proof of the existence of God can anybody ask for?

Read the article. The only "evidence" it describes is the complexity of DNA.

But consider, if you have evidence for god then you no longer have faith in god.

Nope, sorry. This is an example of theists taking advantage of an older man that was losing his faculties.
