Question:
Im atheist but want to believe?
?

Im atheist but when i was a little kid I did go to church because I had to. I havent gone in a couple years. Now I want to believe but im kinda like dean from the show supernatural and believe in what I can see. Now I kind of believe in the paranormal because ive seen so many paranormal movies and tv shows that say they are using real tapes of either exocrisims and stuff like that and say they are based in true stories. But I dont really fully believe beacause I havent had any experience in the paranormal. I have had back chills randomly but who hasn't. I haven't heard any voices in my head besides mine. Or felt a holy presence. I want to believe and I will somewhat believe which sounds stupid. But I will not fully accept the holy spirit till i have some sign or proof god exists. Yes I believe in Jesus but thats because I learned about him in school. But who knows how much teachers lie. I want to become catholic (the western rite) just simply because it's the coolest denomination. Is anyone currently doing the catholic rcia or already did that? And do I have to in order to be catholic and go to catholic church?

If I were you, I would go talk to a Catholic Priest and he can show you how to go about becoming a Catholic.

First of all let me clear that atheism doesn't meaning not believing in god. If i say there is god who created us does this means i am not atheist and a catholic or religious person. NO! There is a difference between believing something and having faith in something. For eg if i see a painting and say i believe that it has been painted by a painter then i am a normal person. But if i say i have faith that it has been painted by a painter only who was a english then i am a theist.

An atheist is a person who believes in his perceptions on the basis of logic, facts, scientific proofs and not just has faith because it was written in some book. It is like reading a chemistry book and believing that phosphorus reacts with zinc but never conducting an experiment to know how it happens just because you have faith in the writer that what he has written is correct.

So if you want to believe in god and jesus that is beautiful go ahead read bible in fact study it throughly and raise questions. Bible says god is our father then it should be a crime to ask questions from your father. Why he created us, how he created us, Who is he?, why is he eternal, why he created this huge universe if we are the only one. Why people suffer equally whether they pray him or not. If i am son of my lord then i have my birth right to know him.

Hi, Billy. Anyone is welcome to visit a Catholic church and attend mass, but to receive holy communion and the other sacraments you would have to go through RCIA classes, which begin around this time of year. You don't have to decide now. Just go to the classes and see what you think. You can decide if you want to become Catholic at the end of RCIA, this Spring. Good luck and God bless you!

You're not atheist. You're agnostic leaning towards theism at best.

If you want to live a lie then that's your problem. But I suggest you pick up some educational books and learn some facts.

You base your belief in the paranormal on TV shows!? *rolls eyes*

The psychological reasons that people believe in god(s) are known. See the 1st link for the video, "Andy Thomson: Why We Believe in Gods" or buy his book at the 2nd link. Also, check out Michael Shermer's "The Believing Brain" at the third link, and his "Why People Believe Invisible Agents Control the World" at the 4th link.

There's no reliable evidence for God/Yahweh, Jesus, Allah, Zeus, Baal, Odin, Quetzalcoatl, Vishnu, Thor, Shiva, or any of the thousands of other gods that people have worshiped. There's also extensive evidence that they are all just delusions and myths - created to help soothe our fear of death, and perpetuated through religion to subjugate the underclass into obedience. There's also no need for gods to explain the traditional reasons for a god -- origin of the universe, origin of life, origin of species, origin of humans, origin of morality.

You do have to go through the RCIA program before you can become Catholic, but you may want to sit down and talk with a priest first. He might be able to direct you to some good books to read. You might also want to check to see if there is a Catholic radio station that you could listen to:

I wish you well, and I'll pray for you.

I'd visit a Catholic church and Catholic websites if I were you. There are a lot of Catholics on R & S, but the best way to learn more about something is to experience it for yourself and talk to people who have already done what it is you're trying to do right now.

To believe in god, first you must convince yourself that magic is real. It helps if you consider anything that you don’t know or understand to have a magical cause.

(If you don't like the term, "magic", you can use "miracles" or "supernatural power" if it makes you feel better. The result is the same.)

Then you must decide which magical things you will accept and which to deny.

To help you get started, here's a partial list from which you may like to choose:

Astral traveling or projection, dragons, time traveling, Cupid, reincarnation, werewolves, genies, telepathy, mermaids, vampires, lucky numbers, tooth fairies, homeopathic healing, leprechauns, spontaneous human combustion, astrological influences, Vulcan sleeper grip, clairvoyants, Superman, angels, charmed or lucky objects, unicorns, hexes, space aliens on Earth, light sabers, paranormal anything, dead people walking around, fountain of youth, telekinesis, spirit guides or all supernatural events of any kind.

Of course you must select a God to worship also. There are many to choose from.

► A person can believe in anything if he tries hard enough.

The more time and energy you spend in this pursuit, the more you will want to believe and so it will be easier to accept with less evidence.

You may as well believe in Mithra if you're wanting to go the Christian route with your god belief.

Mithra is the character the Jews plagiarized to create their Christ character to begin with.

Study Mithras story.

The similarities are practically endless.

The abrahamic/biblical concept of god is not correct.

“God is not a being or an entity. God is the great positive force, the collective positive force of all that is. To call god an entity and especially to personify god is to limit the concept.”

God is the Universal Consciousness, the Intelligent Infinity, the One Source, the Prime Creator. EVERYTHING IS GOD. God is All There Is. We are all part of god. All the universes combined are part of god.

“Our soul is a single unit of consciousness that stems from the Creator’s consciousness. This is known as “Infinite Consciousness.” All units of consciousness are interconnected to all other types of consciousness. Everything that exists is called the “Creator” (also known as the Source). Infinite Consciousness is the universal energy that exists everywhere or “All that is.”

Each one of us was given a divine mission – go away and explore ourselves. Learn, grow, and understand everything that has been created and eventually rejoin the Creator after having learnt everything that is infinitely possible to experience and having acquired the highest understanding of creation itself or “All that is.” Your path of evolution is unique to you, but you are not separate from other souls, rather your individuality is your unique story and journey to understand creation.

Your mission is achieved by ascending your individual consciousness through each of the dimensions within the universe. To begin your mission, you had to experience a variety of intense “third density” (i.e. the physical universe) lessons on Earth, including selfishness, pain, poverty, love, anger, etc. Earth is a planet to begin evolving your consciousness at the infant level, until you consciously realize this illusion and choose to stop experiencing these dense lessons and decide to continue your spiritual growth beyond this dimension.”

In 1980, a woman, Catherine, was being hypnotized by psychiatrist Dr Brian Weiss as a solution to her uncontrollable anxiety and nightmares. Unexpectedly, while under hypnosis, Catherine began to narrate events from a previous lifetime and convey messages from the "in between lives" state. These are some of the messages she relayed while under hypnosis:

“There are different levels of learning, and we must learn some of them in the flesh. We must feel the pain. When you're in physical state in the flesh, you can feel pain; you can hurt. In spirit form you do not feel pain; there is only happiness, a sense of well-being.”

"We all must learn certain attitudes while we're in physical state. Charity, hope, faith, love - we must all know these things and know them well."

"Our task is to learn, to become god-like through knowledge. We know so little. By knowledge we approach God, and then we can rest. Then we come back to teach and help others."

Many Lives Many Masters - Dr Brian Weiss

A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

In Dr. Raymond Moody's documentary entitled, Life After Life, he interviewed a Russian scientist named Rev. George Rodonaiaa, who had a near-death experience during which he observed an infant crying in a nearby room. George observed that no one could figure out why the infant was crying so persistently. But George learned while out of his body that the infant had a broken arm. When George returned to life, he told the infant's parents about the broken arm. An x-ray revealed that the infant's arm was indeed broken. This same incident is documented in Dr. Melvin Morse's book (along with Paul Perry) called Transformed by the Light. The following excerpt from "Transformed by the Light" describes George's observation of this infant while he was out of his body. Note that in Dr. Morse's book, he refers to George by his Russian name "Yuri". http://www.near-death.com/experiences/research11.html

good god ANYTHING but catholic PLEASE? (im ex-catholic) try 7DA instead!

there is plenty of physical archeological proof of god. there are historical papers outside the bible with the name of jesus christ (in the old langauges of course) & his whole family including the half-blood brothers & sisters (proving catholics wrong about this stupid ever-virgin nonsense. in fact it blows them outta the water on this topic! dont worry i come from a catholic church..im allowed to diss)

the bible says: when jesus died there was a huge quake & a crack appeared under his cross going into the ground. when his side was pierced, he bled out blood & water & it went into the crack.

this crack has recently been found...i'll get back to this.

the 'ark of the covenant' (throne of god) went missing thousands of years ago. it has been recently found. guess where? uh huh under calvary. it has human male blood on its seat. DIRECTLY UNDER that crack! DNA extracted shows properties a child would get from his mother....NONE however from a human father. there is "some other type of DNA" instead...not found in any species on earth...hmmm

the bible says: king nimrod built the first skyscraper, tower of babel.

an imprint of an ancient tower has been found...believed to be babel.

the bible says: sodom & 4 other cities were destroyed by fire & brimstone. lots wife was turned to a salt pillar

at one end of the dead sea....there has recently been found ruins of a few cities. the rocks around them are not found anywhere else, can burn hot...sulphrous like & just lying around. outside the cities area....a tall pillar of salt is standing...very very old.

the bible says: noah's ark. when it came onto land after the flood it was in the lower mountains of ararat. NOT the actual mountain. the foothils. bring some of every TYPE...not every species. so parent species from which others developed through crosbreeds. like the wolf. all dogs come from the wolf. so he probably took on a couple of different kinds of wolf. get it? also, of course he had no need to bring water animals on board.

there is a large birds eye shape seen from space on a lower hill next to that mountain. archaologists who went in there has found immense ribbing of a ship thats split apart & sunk in a bit over time. there are also 12 large anchor stones. one of them has 8 anceint foreing signatures on it....hmm....more on this in a moment. goverment confirmed: http://users.netconnect.com.au/~leedas/noaha.html

the bible says: behemoth(land)/leviathan(water)/dragon ( air! NOT to be confused with the devil's symbol) & obviously birds. created days 5 & 6...adam/eve day 6.

the word dinosaur is not in the bible simply cuz its a new word...first said in the 1800's. fossils are always found around water/where water used to be. dino bones are near the surface in heaps. whole mammoths with food still in their mouths have been found frozen. if this had been billions of years ago..shouldnt all this be buried deep..even turned to dust unable to be found? also in texas... a series of footprints in the same layers have been found...man AND dino together. recently a legbone of a dinosaur had been found that was so large it had to be split...soft tissue...SOFT? DA FUQ? was found inside....it was dated 4400 years ago....noah's ark was around then. scientists have been recently saying that a global flood in the past is theoraticly possible "points at a very guilty suspect...BLAME NOAH FOR THIS! DELIEVER HIM TO PHAR....oh wait...this isnt charlton heston/yul brenner...sorry" oh that reminds me....

the bible says: the stone tablets of the 10 commandments have been put inside the ark of the covenant...they are stil lthere along with a few other things....under calvary hill (or whatever its called now)

the bible says: the israelites crossed through the sea on dry land & then the sea covered pharoah & his horses (i guess yul brenner was too sexy for his chariot here...hmm)

pharoahs chariot has a different design in the wheel spokes from his officers. its a + shape..the others have more. in one of the fingers of the red sea sticking up...chariot wheels have been found..one with the + shape, along with skulls of man AND beast.

the bible says: god was atop mount sinia & it burned constantly.

near this red sea area crossing there is a mountain.....with a very black top.

a few years ago, a young bedoin shephard boy went after runaway strays by the dead sea. he found them in caves & there was a lot of pottery inside which were "the dead sea scrolls" now put into a museum. a current day pastor in sacramento (doug batchelor) went to see some of these & had someone who could read the old langauge with him. that person read off a passage...turns out its from isaiah. jesus himself probably held some of these scrolls.

What you really need to do is ask the doctor to increase your medication...

There, there... everything will be alright.

Trust me - I'm a doctor ;)
