im 19 an attending college but not employed and wanting to become a freemason.i have the petition but not sure if i should turn it in until i find a job.

In theory, yes, you have to be employed. Freemasonry isn't looking to get members that it has to subsidize through Masonic charity. In practice, you have to be able to provide for yourself, your family and meet your financial obligations.

It's not strictly necessary but the lodge needs the assurance that you can pay your dues and charitable contributions. If you're still in college I think you're a little young to be joining, unless its something like a family tradition.

No, I don't think you need to be employed. You just have to have a religion, they don't care which one, as long as you believe in a higher power.

i always thought you have to be a mason. i don't see how a petition would help. not sure why you would want to be a free mason...
i have a masonic temple near me, i'm guessing you fill out the papers and if you pass they initiate you. but i'm pretty sure you need to be a mason.
