Because of this story was commonly believed (and sometimes it is still said today) that males have one less rib than females.
In 1543, Vesalius showed in that the number of ribs was the same in both males and females, and therefore the bible could not be right on that account. This released a storm of controversy.
Today another storm of controversy has arosen over the same book (the bible). But now it´s about evolution. Will it take the Christians another 500 years to realise that the concept of evolution is correct? (Some still believe that women have one less rib than men)
