A question for everyone, please answer this?
For all theists, atheists, agnostics.....everyone. Can you give a reason why your belief is the right one? This is to help with a survey for my religious studies class. All answers appreciated and i'll give the most convincing argument the best answer. Thank you
*I already asked this question and thanks to all who answered, i have to change it a little though. If your answer could be as if you were trying to "sell" your faith to me, or "promote" your god or whatever then that would be great. ie- I am.............(catholic, muslim, athiest, agnostic etc). You should believe the same as me because............*I know most people would never force their beliefs on anyone else but this is for a school project, so if you could just imagine that you were trying to get me to believe the same as you that would be good. thanks

I grew up in a very religious strict protestant family. I always had trouble accepting what I was told because it never seemed to be logical. It never fit with historical facts.

Jesus rose from the dead - but no other human has ever risen from the dead in the last 2000 yaers since. Logically this means jesus was not god and had to be human and the bible told a lie.

1 million hebrews wandered in the sinai desert for 40 years without recrossing their path once.

have you looked at a map of the world? have you seen how small the sinai peninsula is? No that was not logical.

But right next to the sinai peninsula is the very large arabian desert. Maybe thats where the jews wandered for 40 years. It makes logical sense to me - especially since NO proof of the exodus has ever been found in the sinai - not one shred of evidence. And there was no islam religion 4000 years ago.

Anyway I thought about this stuff as a teenager and when I was 19, I quit the protestant church I was being raised in.

It took me a few more years to come to a belief that was logical and reasonable to me. I eventually decided that there was a creator (nature was too beautiful and to precise to be an accident) but there was no religion. My thinking was that religion is entirely MAN MADE for reasons of control.

It took another 20 years to discover that this belief in a creator - but nothing else - actually had a name. DEISM

I am a logical person. I dont work on emotions - I dont make decisions based on emotions (except my marriage) I love deism because I am free to be the logical and reasonable person that I am.

I am not going to try and sell you on deism. Thats not how Deism works. You just think about what I am saying and decide for yourself if what I say fits the evidence. Are you a logical thinking person or do you make decisions based on emotion?

Most religions covert people based on emoptions,. If you dont become a christian you will die and go to hell - fire for eternity - that is an emotional means of control.

I dont beleive in heaven and hell - there is absolutely NO proof that they exist.

The trouble is that christians demand to know that there is a reason they are alive. Another emotional response. But what if there was no reason why we humans exist? Maybe we need to do the best we can with our lives and thats all we can do.

WHAT IF - we are an experiement. WHAT IF - the creator thought "I will make some humans and then let them live and see what they do with their gift of life"

Guess what - humans prefer to KILL one another

I would argue that trying to justify any metaphysical belief system is a waste of time. Having spent over 10 years trying to do just that, I implore people to not waste their lives on futile arguments.

I would however argue that the Atheistic position is difficult to justify on the grounds that there is no guarantees that there is no God. For the same reason the theistic philosophy is equally difficult to justify.

The easiest argument to justify is the agnostic position. I don't understand why an atheist can happily say, "I don't have a clue what lies beyond the event horizon of a black hole as nothing that goes in can ever come out and tell us what is there". A theist can say exactly the same thing, but atheists and theists both claim to know whether or not there is something beyond death, despite the fact that true death is in itself an event horizon from which no one can return. The agnostic position is not undecided, uneducated or lazy as some atheists and theists have proposed. The agnostic position is that the state of the afterlife is not just unknown but unknowable. I believe in God but I would never criticise someone who didn't as their belief that there is no God is equally as unfounded as my belief that there is a God.

The choice then as an agnostic between belief in God and unbelief is pretty much a coin flip even after all the arguments and evidence has been reviewed and analysed. I think of myself as a believing agnostic as I like the principles laid down in the bible, I will therefore follow the basic tenets of the christian faith and share that faith with anyone who wishes to hear but I will not ram it down the throat of people who are not willing to hear as I no longer believe christianity has any stronger foundations than any other religion or philosophy. The choice though is personal preference as it helps me in my life, not because I have any proof that God exists or not.

Edit:

Before some christians jump down my throat yes I do know the bible claims Jesus came back from the dead but I wasn't alive 2000 years ago to witness first hand his life death burial and resurrection so all I have is the words of the apostles which can either be believed or disbelieved, I choose to believe but the choice is as arbitrary as the choice to disbelieve.

I am Agnostic. You should believe the same as me because the texts of the Abrahamic religions are brutal and if they are going to be taken literally, we will end up destroying each other. I am not saying God does not exist, but how can we believe an all empowered God, could have an absolute need for worship.

Let's remember the texts - The Bible and the Qur'an, were written by men of the day, to control the men of the day. No more, no less.

We haven't even began to touch upon God, yet. Maybe, he's too far out of our reach.

I am an atheist. There is no sound proof of a God or any other higher being. If there is one most teachings say that we cannot understand him ... so what's the point?

I like seeing my evidence in front of me. I study genetics and I learn every day how the world and it's creatures were created. I can do the experiments myself, I can draw the same conclusions.

How can someone have blind faith? It's not something to be proud of .. it's a way of cushioning yourself from the realities of life. People can't seem to live their lives without the reassurance of someone watching over them, of some sort of protection. It's easier to hear "I shall see my lost family and friends again" than "They're gone".

"God will save me" ... well, will he?

I'm an atheist. I guess the reason i'm a very logical thinker I find the evidence of evolution that has been found impossible to disbelieve. I have seen A LOT of proof that religion is false and that 'god' doesn't exist but nothing at all to prove that what religion teaches is true. Also that I can clearly see why religion was invented and I refuse to become part of the brainwashed masses.

God is an invention of the mind, the same way we want to believe that Father Christmas exists but we know he really doest. I am not denying the existence of God, there is a creator that gave existence from nothing but it doest exist in the form of religions and statues to be worshipped. God is something that can never be reached, a force so powerful that controls the laws of science and nature.

you're kidding your self in case you think of Miami would not have extra desirable than one million enormous call. Wade is a super call i do no longer see why you Lebron dickriders are writing him off only because of fact of one million undesirable playoff sequence properly... you men did choose him traded final season for the period of the Pacers sequence so I should not be suprised. Lebron has a stacked group, little doubt it. each physique on that roster can shoot aside from some participant he's have been given the final 3 ingredient shooter in NBA historic previous on his group for fcks sake. Lebron's teamates have been donning him all sequence, Ray had a super recreation 2, Come had a super recreation 3, have you ever forgot approximately that. Lebron finally himself led his group to a win at present I congratulate him. do no longer underrated Lebron's teamates just to make him look extra advantageous infact, with out Lebron they nonetheless make the ecf's on the least. LOl you needless to say have no expertise of basketball in any respect. Lakers did no longer have a stacked group lower back in 2002 it grew to become into only Shaq and Kobe infact, i'm going to record out the final gamers on Lakers 2002 rosters- one million.Shaq' 2.Kobe 3.Fisher 4.Rick Fox 5.Horry 6. Deavin fcking George -the different scrubs ain't even well worth pointing out. Lakers did no longer have a stacked solid in any respect infact, their group shot only 35% from 3 in comparison to the warmth's 39%.Lakers group grew to become into terrible surrounded by utilising an allright helping solid it grew to become into only Kobe and Shaq. to evaluate Lebron's helping solid and Kobe's helping solid is an outrage. Lebron has a stacked group, they have carried him him so some distance this sequence, only because of fact Lebron is able to throw a flow courtroom pass to an open shooter while in many cases all 5 of his teammates out their can shoot, would not make him surprising. You supply him too lots credit fanboy. Wade is a movie star, Bosh is an allstar, he has a stacked group packed with shooters and a superb middle now in birdman. do no longer underrate his teammates fool. ok, you are able to supply up perfect there. Horry shot 3's horribly lower back in 2003 infact, he's not in any respect been that super of a 3pt shooter or shooter, you needless to say don't be attentive to what you're talking approximately. the warmth needless to say has lots lots lots extra intensity than the Lakers had, and extra advantageous place gamers and you be attentive to it is genuine. supply up appearing such as you be attentive to something, you began observing the NBA in 2010.

personally: i can't give you a reason why you should believe the same things as me because my beliefs developed naturally over time:: they didn't stem from any religion: church or holy text :: i don't feel as though i had any choice in the matter: i was unable to deny the existence of our creator: Ģ๑Đ

I am a Latter-Day Saint and I beleive in Prayer and in following the teaching of Jesus christ...consider

Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the river Jordan not by a cup or any random person

Jesus the christ later stated Except amn be born of water and of the spirit he can not enter into the Kingdom of God. There fore we must be baptized by water, river jordan (full immersion not by a cup or sprinkling cause that would be like throwing a hand full of dirt on a dead guy and proclaiming him burried.) by water AND OF THE SPIRIT means receiving the gift of the holy ghost. As in Acts 8 Peter and John go to a group of recent ly baptized people and place their hand on their heads and bestow the gift of the holy ghost... Note they had been ordained by Jesus to act in his name therefore you must be baptized by water and of the spirit by one holding That authority thats why Jesus went to John the Baptist not john doe down the street. research where people received their authority was it from God or from the internet or from some university.

Now as pertaining to who should be baptized, none save they come forth with a broken heart and humbled spirit through gaining a testimony of the gospel through sincere prayer that God will answer through the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Also note Jesus was 33 or old enough that he knew what he was doing Mother mary didn't have him christened as a baby that is innnocent for baptism is for the repentance covenant and is required so the whole idea of by grace alone your saved is shaken becuase if Christ was baptized by authority so does every other living person.

It is by grace after all you followed the principles and ordinances(covenants) of the Gospel that you will be saved. Joseph smith and oliver cowdery received this Authority from God and constantine never saw God!

I was a Christian (a member of one of the 30,000 odd Christian denominations), but, after reading about psychology, history, anthropology, and other religious beliefs, i found that my faith was nothing more than a sop.

logic tells me that 'religions' are nothing more a man-made invention to fulfil a psychological need

I don't believe in any gods because they don't seem to provide any evidence for their existence.

So if gods exist and don't want people to think they do, they are doing a great job. If they did want to be worshiped, they could convince me easily, after all.

I don't believe in anything. My degrees of confidence in any phenomenon is proportional to the evidence given for it and if evidence is not readily available, then it would be inappropriate to just believe.

So I don't know if there is divine intervention and I'm not too sure that there isn't.

im a former christian would kind of say im athiest in truth a remain indifferent to the possibility of the excistence of god, i have looked deeply in to many religions and find it curious that horus and jesus seem to be one and the same and that the kemetic mysteries of egypt contain the ten commandments on writings produced long before those in the buybull came to be

Atheists don't have a belief. We just don't believe the others.

It's right because they don't have evidence.

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, (Mormon), and it's common in our religion to base our conversion on the Book of Mormon, which, when read, has the promise in it that if we read, pray and think about it, the Holy Ghost will make the truth of it known to us. He has to me, and that is what I base my convictions on. Thanks for asking, and good luck with your project.

I truly believed that my belief in Christ Jesus, the One True Living God is right because He has shown me the truth of being a sinner saved by His grace and mercies.

And this i will surely testify for my love to God, Christ Jesus unto the whole world even to the point of dying for Him. Amen.

Besides, I have no power to convert any one for only Christ Jesus the One True Living has the power to change people heart by the powewr of the Holy Spirit.

Mat 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Mat 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Tit 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Tit 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Tit 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

AMEN .

Therefore, those who claimed they have power to forgive sins (vicar for Christ) are truly liars and deceivers. Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
