As the use of wedding rings is a pagan custom, are they banned from Jehovah Witnesses weddings?

The wedding ring originated in Babylon, the cradle of civilization. The most ancient ring discovered there is in the shape of the eternal serpent. The image of the serpent biting its tail to form the circle of the ring is an ancient satanic symbol (***satanic ouroboros) . The same symbol is used by the Theosophy Cult. Satan as the serpent, that great dragon of Revelation 12, has by this symbol joined a man and a woman under his cult. God is not the serpent symbol of any wedding ring, nor is he the symbol of the wedding ring in any fashion. We may trace the ring not to the God of the Bible but to the accuser of the brethren. Where is there any ring that symbolizes God? Did God provide wedding rings for Adam and Eve?

Christians should avoid practices that conflict with Biblical truth. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) Still, all kinds of objects, designs, and practices have, at some time or place, been given a false interpretation or have been linked with unscriptural teachings. Trees have been worshiped, the heart shape has been viewed as sacred, and incense has been used in pagan ceremonies. Does this mean that a Christian must never use incense, have trees in any decoration, or wear heart-shaped jewelry? That is not a valid conclusion.

A genuine Christian should consider: Would following a custom indicate to others that I have adopted unscriptural beliefs or practices? The time period and location could influence the answer. A custom (or design) might have had a false religious meaning millenniums ago or might have such today in a distant land. But without going into time-consuming investigation, ask yourself: ‘What is the common view where I live?’—Compare 1 Corinthians 10:25-29.

============================

As mentioned above ^ many of God's faithful servants wore rings for various reasons. This is a matter of conscience for Jehovah's Witnesses. There are some people who choose not to exchange rings during a wedding and do not wear a wedding ring for that very reason (pagan origins). That October 15th, 1991 Watchtower goes more into other customs that have pagan origins.. such as the sending of flowers for funerals. Generally it is acceptable for us to do.. but there are certain circumstances where it might not be.. depending a lot on where you live and local customs.

Birthdays are directly addressed in the scriptures whereas wedding rings are not.

The designated origin of the marriage ceremony ring is uncertain. Even supposing it were a indisputable fact that pagans first used marriage ceremony rings, would that rule such out for Christians? Not always. Many of today’s articles of apparel and facets of existence originated in pagan lands. The reward time divisions of hours, minutes and seconds are headquartered on an early Babylonian procedure. But, there is not any objection to a Christian’s using these time divisions, for one’s doing so does no longer involve carrying on false religious practices. The question isn't a lot whether or not wedding rings had been first used by pagans but whether they had been initially used as part of false devout practices and still continue such devout value. As has been shown, the historic proof does now not permit for any definite conclusion on this. What does the Bible say about the usage of rings? The Bible suggests that some of God’s servants prior to now wore rings, even ones that had specific that means connected to them. Sporting a signet ring could point out that one had got authority to act in behalf of the ruler who owned it. (Gen. 41:42; Num. 31:50; Esther 8:2, 8; Job 42:11, 12; Luke 15:22) So, at the same time wedding rings are not recounted, these actual worshipers evidently did not scruple against utilizing rings for more than mere adornment. Some folks say that a wedding ring represents one’s never-ending love and devotion in marriage. The increasing divorce cost in many lands the place married people almost always wear a wedding ring proves that this which means is more imagined than actual. However, for the majority of persons, including Christians, in lands the place marriage ceremony rings are usual, the ring is an outward indication that the wearer is a married man or woman. In other localities the identical point is shown in an additional manner, comparable to by a woman’s carrying a detailed form of apparel. Of path, a wedding ring is not ever a Christian requirement. One Christian would make a decision not to wear a marriage ceremony ring, seeing that of judgment of right and wrong, private taste, fee, nearby customized, or another intent. Yet one more Christian could make a decision to denote his married fame by way of a wedding ring. Thus, within the final analysis the resolution is a individual one, to be made in accord with the conscientious views one holds.

Many cultures have many things in common, does not make it wrong. Serpents aren't all bad, consider when God told Moses to make brass (or bronze) serpents to heal his people. We tend to impose our own interpretation on everything too often.

Jesus seemed to have no problem with rings, including them in such an enthusiastic manner in his parable of the Prodigal Son.

Rings must be older than Babylon, and I doubt the first were serpent like. The detail you provided doesn't seem original but rather copy/pasted, from misguided people.

The wedding ring was actually part of Jewish custom I believe, do research. Jehovah's Witnesses is complete bull, by the way. I think there is so much lie being presented by you, and you might not even be aware of it.

Most of the customs you follow in your day to day life has no Biblical reference. If you do not like a ring do not wear or use it as a symbol of marriage. Spread this message to everyone whom you know and ask them to stop wearing rings. This will reduce the gold rate, people will not invest on gold rather use the money they earn or send it to those who are in need

The wedding ring was not used for false worship to Jehovah, just like cake was not either. There is no problem with JW's wearing wedding rings. There is no link to them being used in false worship. You said it yourself, they were used in ''pagan customs'', not in worship.

We know Jesus did not celebrate the date of his birth, therefore, we don't either. No Israelite did.

Witnesses posting here are the best deterrent to joining the Watchtower that exists.

Some pagan things are forbidden, some pagan things are acceptable. They can only post Watchtower articles that end up conflicting with each other.

To an outside viewer, it is easily apparent that they will believe and parrot whatever their human rulers command them to.

The origin of the wedding ring is uncertain, but the Bible shows that some of God’s servants in the past wore rings, even ones that had special meaning attached to them. Wearing a signet ring could indicate that one had received authority to act in behalf of the ruler who owned it. Gen. 41:42;

(Genesis 41:42) . .With that Phar′aoh removed his signet ring from his own hand and put it upon Joseph’s hand and clothed him with garments of fine linen and placed a necklace of gold about his neck.

Not a Christian, but do realize that the concept of "wedding rings" is unnatural.
