I know what they are but not really. I can't think of a single person who hasn't violated at least one of the 7 deadly sins. If someone commits the sins, does it mean that person will go to hell? and what can be done so that they won't go to hell?

Sloth = Depression

Wrath = Completing Vengeance for something done to you

Greed = Wanting more of something

Envy = Jealousy

Gluttony = Having and enjoying something too much

Lust = Wanting sex

Pride = Overly proud

It doesn't mean your going to hell, it means you just are not a good person. It's more of a way of saying you're already in a living hell. Basically just live your life without being unhappy all the time, without being vengeful, without being greedy, be content with what you have attained, don't over indulge all the time, don't mate like rabbits everyday, and accept your own value.

Lust (Latin, luxuria)

Gluttony (Latin, gula)

Greed (Latin, avaritia)

Sloth (Latin, acedia)

Wrath (Latin, ira)

Envy (Latin, invidia)

Pride (Latin, superbia)

According to the Catholic religion you have to confess or repent through perfect contrition. The seven deadly sins are not actually listed in the bible and are likely the creation of a 4th centaury monk Evagrius Ponticus. They oppose the seven holy virtues: chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility. The seven deadly sins also have a corresponding demon:

Lucifer: pride

Mammon: greed

Asmodeus: lust

Leviathan: envy

Beelzebub: gluttony

Satan/Amon: wrath

Belphegor: sloth

We have a just God who realizes our human failings, that is why he has given us the Sacraments especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation in this case for us to ask forgiveness for our sins and make a firm purpose of amendment to not sin again

Well I can safely claim that my Ex violated the whole 7.

UP to & including him wanting to bring a 2nd wife into our family.

But he does give "dead beat" a bad name..

Gluttony -- Eating too much.

Pride -- Loving yourself too much.

Wrath -- Being angry.

Sloth -- Being lazy and depressed.

Envy -- Self explanatory.

Greed -- Also self explanatory.

Lust -- Sleeping around.

Frankly, I'd say that murder, thievery, assault, rape, etc. are worse than any of the above.

I commit them frequently, and it feels good. I don't see how they can be sins at all, actually! Wait, except for greed and wrath, they're pretty bad.

In case you don't know what the 7 deadly sins are: Pride, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, sloth and envy.

Note: Murder, adultery and sex offences have not been listed!
