Well I married a JW almost 3 years ago. We have one son together and he has adopted my other son as his own. I have found my husband to be the most trustworthy, caring, compassionate man who absolutely adores me. Well I started studding about a year ago, and I usually attend most of the meetings. However, I am still very hesitant. I can't get passed the fact that they keep saying that they are the "TRUTH" and act according to what GOD has told the Governing Body and they are sometimes SO wrong. No don't get me wrong, there is a lot of good teachings being taught at the Hall, but I am just soooooooo confused. I am praying constantly. Maybe some words of advise from others may help.

You say "they are sometimes SO wrong". Wrong about what? Are you saying this because of what you've been taught previously? You have learned, I'm sure, that nothing of what the worlds religions teach compares to what the Bible really says. I'm sure you've also learned that your husband didn't follow Bible counsel when he married you. This is not God's fault. Neither is it His fault that you are confused and have doubts.

You said you are praying constantly. Are you praying for the right things to happen? Are you specific in your prayers? Are your prayers in line with Jehovah's will and not your own?

You said basically, that your husband is the greatest man in the world. To me, he sounds like a real keeper. Why would you think that he would want you to do something that is not in your best interests? Why would you think the same thing about Jehovah? What do you think will be the end result if you choose not to follow your husband in worshiping Jehovah? You will be living in a divided household. Your husband, I'm sure, won't love you any less, but, think about how much you've changed his life in the short time the two of you have been together, especially since you started studying. Are you really prepared for the heartache you will undoubtedly cause him, if you choose not to serve the God he loves more than he loves even you? Trust me, I'm not saying these things to make your decision any harder than it already is. I simply want you to think about how this decision will affect those you love, not just yourself. Whatever your final decision may be, it is yours, and you will have to live with the consequences if you make the wrong choice. And so will your family.

You should join JWs because you like the magazines they knock on doors to give people. Do be careful since all JWs must preach at doors and all means also those who are pedophiles. That's why I don't. Since general Christianity is the "one faith" Paul says exists at Ephesians 4:5 and has been fulfilling the commission at Matthew 24 to preach the good news of God's kingdom (=the resurrection as all sin and die) , I don't feel any need to join them, but if you want to, why, sure, go ahead, and good luck. You have ever right to join them though I'd love to dissuade you since 1 Samuel 14:32-34 says Saul's men ate unBLED meat to stay alive and were forgiven, while as a JW you'll be told to instead go dogmatically by Acts 15:20 and abstain even from modern transfusions, not just blood eaten in market meats.

WOW!!! I too was in the same boat. Trust I used to study JW's material... to be honest I grew up in a JW household. My grandparent are witnesses. And I too thought they were the "Truth" until I come across the House of Yahweh teachings and it made sense! It took a while to let go and to accept that His Name couldnt possibly be Jehovah or the Son, Jesus since there is no J in Hebrew

Then later i found out the JW believed in pagan doctrine such as the Holy Spirit being an "Active Force" which also the Wicca believes

JW claim to be The witnesses spoken of in Isaiah. This cant be half the truth because it actually Names The Two Witnesses in Isaiah 44:5! spoken of in Revelation 11

In Isaiah 2:2 Yahweh says in the Last Days He will establish His House in the chief of the nation.

There is where I found out about The Two Witnesses actually being Two individuals from the same womb! as Isaiah 44:1-2

Because in their beliefs like in EVERYONEs beliefs, it is the truth. I'm sure your husband would have the same feelings regarding the beliefs you were raised in. See, while everyone wants to be right, it's really unlikely. i'm sure I'll be rated down for this post since I have an unbiased opinion, but look at all the small differences in just the Christian faith alone. How many denominations are there? They can't all be completely right about everything. This is why I chose to be an athiest. I realised logically that if they couldn't all be right about everything then perhaps they were all wrong about most things. I realize that it's not a comforting thought, but realize i'm sincere in this post and am actually trying to help. While I can't profess to have the answers to faith, I know a little something about relationships, so trust me when I say to just agree on the things you CAN agree on and don't sweat the little details.

I studied with the Witnesses for a long time, went to their meetings, did some door-to-door witnessing. But when it came down to it, there were still some things that never quite rang True to me in their beliefs. So I prayed a lot, and more and more I felt like this wasn't right for me.

Don't get me wrong, JW's have earned my respect for living what they believe in spite of being constantly ridiculed and bombarded with opposition. However, I am not the authority, God is, and I felt strongly that I was to disassociate myself from their organization.

No, they did not tell me I was going to hell, as one person stated they are prone to do, because the JW's do not believe in Hell being more than the grave/pit, so that is not something they are likely to tell people.

At any rate, keep praying until you have an answer. Trust what God tells you through His spirit, not what people here tell you!

If you have doubts and think that some of what you are being taught is wrong, you may need to speak to your husband. Obviously he loves you very much and he is not going to get mad at you for having doubts. Instead, he will try to help you undersand what you dont understand and may help you with your doubts. You need to believe in your own heart and mind that what you learn is from the Bible.

Be careful about what you believe from the answers that you get from R&S. As you probably already know, there are a lot of misunderstandings and mistaken ideas about what we believe and teach.

All the legitimate Christian apologetics groups I am aware of lists the JW as an anti-Christian cult.

They deny Christ. That makes them NOT-Christian.

The best advice I can give is -shut that door permanently.

Satan's greatest tool is the lie. He does far more work in a church-like setting than out in the world. Billions of people (billions with a "b") are following Satan while thinking they are serving God. The Jehovah's Witness is a prime example of this. The express intent of the JW is to lead people away from Jesus.

If you want to get into a church and try to learn the "Truth" your husband speaks about. Try one of the groups below. Most (not all) are okay folks-

Presbyterian

Baptists

Church of Christ (not United Church of Christ-thats a cult)

Calvary Chapel

Some Independent groups

Some Pentecostal groups

There are more....but this should get you pointed int he right direction if you are interested.

You might want to first check out how many times they've incorrectly predicted the end of the world. Then ask yourself this: How much do I really value Halloween? They have a big problem with that one. On the positive side, that religion has included Prince and Michael Jackson as members. And surely a group headed by an organization like The Watchtower couldn't possibly be a cult. Right? Good luck.
2009-11-27 17:13:46 UTC
Here's the bottom line...

The watchtower poses itself as the earthly vessel of God's revelation and that they alone determine the correct meaning of God's word. That's why it retranslates scripture... they hold that all translations are corrupted and that the church is apostate. According to the watchtower society only they hold the truth.

This means that you cannot go to God without the aid of the watchtower. They are by all means a self-appointed mediator or "priesthood" through which God's redemptive purpose is worked. And no matter how much they say "Jesus" it's always someone else other than the Jesus of the Holy Bible... God's Son. Even a JW will tell you Jesus is now Michael the Archangel.

But here's the plain and simple truth... John 6:44 says the no man can come to Jesus unless the Father calls him. God does not call us to the Church, He does not call us to a priesthood, He does not call us to the watchtower. God calls us to Jesus, ONLY JESUS, where we receive the new life through repentance

You married a disobedient JW who ignored the Bible wise counsel to marry only in the Lord (marry another JW). You mentioned JWs are SO wrong, really?

SO wrong-

1) Do we practice idolatry-salute the flag, pledge allegiance to it, idolize the cross or graven images of "saint"?

2) Is our worship contaminated by pagan rites, teachings and traditions?

3) Do we dabble in spiritism?

4) Do we spread false doctrine/follow the teachings of demons/ or teach mens commands as doctrine e.g., Athanians Creed, Calvinism, fobid our members to marry in the Lord, or command them to abstain from foods which God created?

5) Do we render sacred service to God's creations e.g,. Jesus, Mary, "saint's", country, leaders etc?

6) Did we remove GOd's name from the bible because of Jewish superstition and replaced it wth Lord an God?

7) Do we get involved in the affairs of the world?

Do you really want to know what is SO wrong...your interfaith marriage!

If you have doubts, then follow them. If God knew it was right, you wouldn't have doubts.

Romans 23

But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

I encourage you to read Romans. at least Romans 1-24. I believe this will help you a lot. I am speaking as unbiased as possible, I believe that you don't have to be a christian to go to heaven. I think you should read the bible and study hard, and see what it tells you to do. The answer will come out. No matter how long it takes, just study. It can come in years, but it will come, i promise.

The devil comes in many forms. He comes to lay evil and destruction. If you have doubts, that is god speaking. Listen to him. The devil is sneaky, i love how John S. puts it, the devil's greatest tool is deception

The most fundamental different between JWs and just about all other Christians is that JWs deny the Deity of Jesus. Whether you were raised Protestant or Catholic, this is a major issue if you currently define yourself as "Christian" and are looking for an "alternative".

You do not have to do anything. You can stay as you are. Give it lots of time and in a few years you may know what you want . If you just got married and had a child then you have enough on your plate. Take it easy on yourself.
2009-11-27 17:16:10 UTC
Well, you've answered your own question, I think.

Would God want you to pretend belief in something that you do not believe - regarding *him*? Or would he prefer that you believe what you know to be right (whether or not you declare it to the world?)

It seems clear to me that by becoming a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, you will consider yourself a fraud and, besides, it will be clear that you lack integrity **regarding your religious beliefs**.

By remaining accepting but not a member, you need not deceive anyone that you believe things that you do not believe.

You should do some serious Bible study with your son so he won't get confused by the JW's. There is no reason for you to become one of them. I am surprised that they would let a man marry a non-JW.

The major problem with the JW religion is they do not believe Jesus is God. If one does not believe this I cannot see that they can be truly saved. Maybe something for you to look into.

The truth belongs to God, NOT to JW's. They have a nasty disposition of telling anyone who doesn't believe in their "authority" that they're going to Hell!

I recommend praying the rosary daily. The Virgin Mary can guide you to the truth. See the following promises.

The rosary is explained here:

http://www.sancta.org/rosary/how.html

The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:

1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.

2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.

6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death, they shall participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.

9. I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

God bless!

I'd like to know what their connection is with the Baptists.

When you say you're praying constantly, who you praying to? Who would be listening?
