Question:
How much coincidence is too much...?

It seems often to me, people attribute the things in their lives as either ,coincidence or proof of God.

So, question is, on a given night, lets say in a matter of 3 hours, there appears to be coincidence after coincidence, at the very least 9 things that fall into place in those few hours, and the end result is a close brush with death.

Do you that believe merely in coincidence, think at some point its just too much of it, maybe its more than coincidence?

(Yes, theres a story behind this question.)

It is apparent that you feel something more than coincidence. For that reason, I suspect it is not coincidence.

Some do not believe in coincident; that everything happens for a reason. I am not sure 'everything' happens for a reason, ie God intervening. But I know He does orchestrate situations and happenings. Just not sure everything, every time.

Sometimes coincidences are just that.

It wouldn't be a coincidence if tomorrow I hear some news story about anna nicole smith because she has been in the news for a while now. Nor would it be a coincidence if someone brings it up in conversation. Determining what is a true coincidence, therefore, requires some real considering if it truelly just should not have occurred in all realism otherwise.

Another example might be making plans with someone to go to the movies. Then you find out you have to take care of some errand instead and call off the meeting. Then after you finish your errand you go to some place both you and the friend you had plans with like to go to, and you find them there quite by accident. That's not really too much of a coincidence. Now even if they pull you out of the way of a speeding car in the parking lot of this place - it's still not too much of a coincidence to be labelled TOO coincidental. It's just not.

That being said, I do believe in some coincidences being just a little too coincidental suggesting that it was something that was going to happen. But this involves strings of too coincidental things occurring before you say - something really wierd is going on here.

There is no such thing as coincidence. The accept the validity of the idea is to discount EVERYTHING attributed ty EVERY deity in EVERY religion that has ever existed, including ones own. Either everything has a cause (even if we don's see it) or nothing does. There is NO middle ground. If things happen there is a reason. We dont' necessarliy have to know what it is, we don't necessarily have to like it if we do. But as long as there is a reason, then thengs can be changed, influenced. If it were all coincidence then cause and effect woudl be meaningless, Gravity would be meaningless, physcis would be meaningless and ESPECIALLY RELIGION would be meaningless.

I think that sometimes, a coincidence is just that. I also believe that there are times when it is more than a coincidence. If you feel that God intervene's, then believe that. If you think that we share a psychic connection with each other that lets us call on each other in extreme circumstances then go with that. You meet the universe in your own way. Understand that we all do and that it is different for us all but your way is great if it works for you. You don't need vaidation from us, especially not from us. You have been given all the intelligene that any human has, go with what the universe teaches you.

Coincidences have to do with Math. Statistically it may be unlikely for you to have 9 coincidences in one night, however it happened. Some would say it must be God.

I don't agree, because it is a statistical imposibility that a 1/4 jewish german weakling artist would servive world war 1 and then become the most powerful leader in Germany, and murder millions of Jews. There are too many coincidences that lead to Hitler becoming the Fuerer, but it happened.

If you want to believe that coincidences that cause good things to happen are from God, then you have to accept that coincidences that cause bad things to happen are because of God as well. Therefore God made sure Hitler could kill millions of people?

Be more specific.

If you mean by things "falling into place" that you finally figured out the chinese puzzle you were workin on for weeks and then in the same night turned on the TV randomly to find your favorite movie just beginning, then yes, that would be coincidence.

What are you talkin about? Give us a better idea.

There are logical consequences. If it makes you a more harmonious person believing that God played a role in your good fortunes, then I am sure it is a cause and effect result. Harmonious people seem to always be having streaks of pretty good luck. Does believing in God make you a more harmonious person? If yes, he was involved in your list of coincidences.

PS: I am a self-read Christian, and I certainly believe in God.

If I predict the win/loss outcome of 100 football games in a row,

am I lucky?

Or maybe I'll only tell you about the ones I get right. Think of all the

eerie things that DIDN'T happen.

Usually people really don't understand how probability works, so they

start applying "deus-machina" logic when it isn't necessary.

Coincidence is your brain deciding that random things are meaningful. We are very good at it, as humans.

No. Coincidence is the outcome of an infinite number of factors that compose probability.
