Question:
Best Bible Translaton and Commentary?
?
2012-09-07 23:40:55 UTC
I am seeking the best Bible translation or paraphrase for ME, and the best commentary. (What's best for me, might not be best for somebody else. Also, the BEST Bible translation for anybody, is the one they will use! :D) The Bible MUST be easy reading - it must flow well in modern English. I currently use the Living Bible mainly. I am also seeking a really good commentary that is very detailed, and explains all the little things in the scriptures. Why they said this or that, for example, based on the culture back then. I don't have any commentaries right now, and the Living Bible in the Life Application Bible format (meaning with lots of notes) just doesn't tell me anywhere near enough. I want all the little details! :D

I would like them in book form, but more important, online for free. That way I can "try before I buy", and find the best one for me; and also I can see it much better on my 27" screen! :D

Can you help me? Thank you, ~Cindy! :)

You may have better luck with google, it doesn't judge you based on what you search. The only bookstore I am aware of that would have what you want is koorong books based in Aus. Pretty sure they do overseas shipping.

Its all about YOU isn't it. What you want..... Doesn't really matter if you have to change God's words to something He didn't mean, does it, as long as your hearts right and it suits you and you like it..

If you are homosexual you will love the New Living Translation.

1 Kings 14:24 - "sodomites" replaced with "shrine prostitutes" in a lot of verses.

Having trouble reading through the Bible? The New Living Translation has less verses to read.

Matthew 18:11 - entire verse omitted

Matthew 19:9 - half of the verse is omitted

Matthew 23:14 - entire verse omitted

Mark 6:11 - half of the verse is omitted

Mark 7:16 - entire verse omitted

Mark 9:44, 46 - entire verses omitted

Mark 11:26 - entire verse omitted

Mark 15:28 - entire verse omitted

And it continues through the rest of the New Testament, leaving out verses because the Bible is too long anyway isn't it?

Don't like the Trinity as it is? Change it from

KJB - "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." to

NLT - "So we have these three witnesses." and get the added benefit of less words to read.

You obviously don't care about God and His words. get any commentary. Doesn't matter does it.

If you are SERIOUS then get the King James Bible if you want God's unadulterated words.

Revelation 22:19  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (KJV)

The best one is the ceiling cat version, it makes it easy to read through the bible without taking it seriously, because.. lets be honest.. there is not much to take seriously anyway.
