Both are true when you understand what happened, he threw the money back and the religious leaders said they could not accept it so they bought a field in his name because it was his money. So both are true.

Mathew 27 explains this in detail if you will take the time to read it. Yes Judas threw the money on the Temple floor and went out but the priests picked up the money and bought a field to bury strangers in. In that a field was purchased with Judas money both are correct.

Probably neither both are text added to fulfill old prophecies...you get 3 version of judas death but he was with the apostles when Jesus resurrected ..Mark 16:14 and Luke 24:33 state that following his resurrection Jesus appeared to "the eleven." Who was missing? After all that had transpired one would just naturally think it was Judas. Apparently not, because in John 20:24 we learn that the one missing was Thomas. Therefore the eleven had to include Judas. Furthermore, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:5 that following his resurrection Jesus was seen by “the twelve.” This had to include Judas because it wasn't until after the ascension, some forty days after the resurrection (Acts 1:3), that another person, Matthias, was voted in to replace Judas (Acts 1:26).

And in all the bible the man who take the lamb to the sacrifice was the coolest..ask Abraham about it

"First of all, what happened was that Judas was given the money by the priests in order to betray Jesus, thus making it 'blood money'. After betraying Jesus, Judas gave the money back to the priests, who then used it to buy the field. However, since the money was 'blood money', it was tainted and thus could not be officially used by the priests. The only way the priests could use it to buy the field would be if they purchased it in another person's name. Since the money previously belonged to Judas, they purchased it in his name. So, in one sense, Judas himself purchased the field. However, the priests were the ones who actually purchased it. Not a contradiction."

Judas threw the money back to the Priests, and proceeded to kill himself. The priests then bought Potters field with the money which was technically Judas's money still so it would have been registered under his name.Matthew 27:7

He threw the money at the people in the temple who had paid him to do the deed and they bought a field, called Potter's field, where they buried him.

In Matthew 27:

5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

8Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

10And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

So it wasn't Judas himself who bought the field - it was the chief priests.

There are two Judas stories. Apologists have a complex combination of the two that together are the "truth", i.e. threw the money into the temple, then picked it up and bought a field, then hung himself, then the rope broke and he bloated up and rolled into the road.

The bible Jesus character wanted to be betrayed by Judas, the story cannot happen without his complicity, it is the pinnacle of hypocrisy for him to be criticised, by Christians

Which ever way it happened, a field was bought and used to bury people.

@howard Judas Iscariot was possessed by Satan. It said in the Bible that Jesus said "Whoever I pass this bread to will be my traitor".

the whole judas part makes no sense, if he actually believed jesus was god, he wouldnt have done it, and if he didnt, he wouldnt have killed himself afterwards
