Dear Madhavi,

God is exactly like our father. What our father expects. He expects us to thank him or show our gratitude in doing things which he wants. He wants us to study well, behave well carry forward the good family tradition and culture to the future generation. Be a good person and earn good name in the society.

This is exactly what god wants from you. He wants you to be good at heart. Help the poor. Don’t hurt any single living being. Follow rightness / dharma and eliminate or eradicate evil from the society. This first starts from within. Then you should remove that from your family members, then from your future children and heredity.

We need to thank him by not merely saying “Thank you god”, instead thank him by showing our gratitude in following the path of goodness.

You should make your father feel proud of you, similarly you should feel god feel proud of creating you. How can you do that? Think think you will know the answer.

See that is how we should thank god…   

With love

Gentleman

In yahoo there are many elders who are answering you or reading your questions, hence you have the responsibility while you write. If someone finds your words provocative, immediately apologize and try to correct it, instead of justifying it.

Yes, I thank God for lots of things! Example I hate my apartment and the only good thing I can say is it is way better than what I grew up in. You know actually when I have my gripes about where l live (a vaild grip is I live directly across the street from the landfill) I go back and remember that in the house I grew up in there was a hole over my bath tub that was big enough to drop a chair in the bath tub! Our attict kept the light of day out, but still. Not only but I grew up in a house that you could throw a basket ball through some of the holes in the wall. So living in a place with no holes in the wall, and storm windows, (I grew up without them too!) I have a nicer place despite location to live in (for now!)

I thank God for a loving husband! I really thank God for my job as it is the best paying job I've ever had. I thank God for a supportive family (even if they are a little to get up in my business kind of people!) I thank God for so many things!

Yes I do, and thank you for reminding all of us to thank the Lord fro all things. In fact I know a lot of us start our prayers with a gimme list, or help me list. I learned a long time ago in a bible study, that we are suppose to start our prayers with thanksgiving , praise and adoration . In fact there are 9 types of prayer

1. Worship Ps. 29: 2

2. Praises Ps. 105:2

3. Thanks 1 Thes. 5:18

4. Adoration Det. 6:5

5. Devotion Is. 27:5

6. Communion James 4:8

7. Confession Ps. 51

8. Intercession Eph. 6:18

9. Petition Phil 4:6

Thank you again , we have so much to be thankful for .

Praise God! We are so blessed! Perhaps we should consider the Devil/Satan's role in this world and how much of a role Satan plays into suffering and pain. Don't forget when Christ was nailed to the cross ( yes he was made to suffer too) he did it to save us from our sins so to say he hasn't done anything for us is just a bit of a short change.

When it is time for the atheists to know they will know what we know now.

In the mean time I will pray for them because that is my "God given right".

I think people thank God too much. Before every meal, when they ace a test, but he doesn't get nearly the same criticisms for the crap those people should be blaming him for.

Isn't it sort of a slap in the face to people facing crisis in Darfur to thank God that he cares enough about YOU to help you finish your test? Or to give you a sandwich when you're already a fat westerner? How insulting is that to a starving person who isn't receiving God's grace of food?

This 'God' character acts a lot like Shaquille O'Neil: when the team wins, it was all Shaq, but when they lose he had nothing to do with it.

I thank Him for everything but still not as much as I should! Alot of people think I am silly cause I thank over every little thing! I lose my keys and find them, shout thank you Jesus! I thank Him for everything I can think of but need to do it more! I think we tend to ask and want more than we thank! We are to thank Him and praise Him first! Thank you for this question!!
2008-04-10 22:12:38 UTC
Um well you see, if i don't believe in 'him', then i can't thank 'him' :)

I thank my mother who worked her butt off to give our family the roof over our heads, the food we ate, the clothes we wore etc.

Why would i choose to thank something that isn't over there, over a human being who provides real and evidencial love and warmth?

thank you for the reminder and this is good witnessing

by the way..complaining stop our prayer.always.

for complaining violate love commandment as well the works of FAITH.

for he who pray must have faith of being HEARD.

(hebrew 10:23=11;22+) what is faith teaching.

and them spouse, if they dishonor/disrespect her/him..prayer can be void..till they forgive..ect.

I thank Him every single night for everything I take for granted. We thank Him so much because we don't deserve the things He gives us and we don't deserve everything we have.

We should be very thankful.

You are right...So many of our prayers are demanding.

I really try to remember to thank him for his glorious creation and the chance to be with him in heaven.

I thank my mom, husband, daughter, co-workers, doctor, mechanic, vet, bus-driver...Basically everyone who:

i) exists; and

ii) is deserving of thanks.

God doesn't qualify on either count.

yes i thank god most times when ever i get an oppurtunity and even in hard times i look upto him and pray him
2008-04-10 22:12:19 UTC
i think we too often forget to thank Godfor the things that He has done for us ....things that we probably prayed for. He has done much more for us than anyone else could EVER do... the least he deserves is thanks
