RULES FOR WARS:
Islam lays out very strict rules of combat that insures the proper conduct of Muslim warriors, since Allah knows that Mankind may cause illegitimate and unnecessary damage to those who are at war with them, or their properties. Allah says: "Fight in the ways of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits, for Allah loves not transgressors." (Holy Quran 2:190). The limits for all Muslims to follow in case of war are:
1. If you are attacked you should fight back;
2. If you are expelled from your home, you should fight back;
3. If someone is preparing to attack you, you should prepared;
4. If someone oppressed and tortured asks for your help, then you should help;
5. War is permissible only after exhausting all means to establish a just peaceful solution;
6. Do not destroy property;
7. Do not harm or kill civilians;
8. Do not harm or kill Women, children, old Men and Women, except those who fight you;
9. Do not kill animals;
10. Do not cut down trees or destroy crops;
11. Do not kill injured enemy soldiers;
12. Do not destroy places of worship;
13. Fight only those who fight you;
14. If the enemy ceases their hostilities, you should stop too;
15. Negotiate for peace.
Allah instructs Muslims that if their enemy turn to peace, they should incline to peace too, Allah says in the Holy Quran: "But if the enemy inclines toward peace, do you also incline towards peace and trust in Allah, for He is the One who hears and knows all thing." (Holy Quran 8:61), "If they (Enemy) withdraw from you and fight you not, but instead they send you giantess of peace, then Allah allowed no way for you to fight them." (Holy Quran 4:90).
Instructions like these pave the way for the establishment of a just long peace.
