Atheists would not oppose religion if they were not afraid of it. Obviously they are fearful of God's moral influence on man. Sanity threatens to add order to the chaos they promote among themselves.

Why so blind to what causes the backlash against Christianity?

ALL the other religions and atheists live in peace and are ONLY attacked by BAD Christians which causes all GOOD Christians to despair at the damage they do!

The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only thing that can stop it is to abandon the terrible human emotions, seek to rediscover the idea of a loving god and act like it!

Sadly it seems you are becoming just another anti atheist and the UK Archbishop of Canterbury said this week that because of the intolerance of Christians, Christianity is becoming known for it's hatred and not because of what it should believe in!

Playing games with semantics is not the same thing as presenting evidence. I am atheist because there is no evidence to convince me that any God exists, how could I be phobic of something that as far as I am concerned, isn't even real? Are you "phobic" of cartoon characters, or characters from books of fiction?

never, in actuality, if data replaced into in choose of a god hypothesis, we could settle for it. we are prepared to settle for, on the data, conclusions that is unwelcome to us. to illustrate, the Andromeda galaxy is on a collision path with our galaxy. is this a delightful concept? No, yet very lots of knowledge potential that it relatively is what is going to take place. No solid data has ever been positioned forth on the god hypothesis, in actuality, the data shows in any different case. See Victor Stenger' "God: The Failed hypothesis" Christians on the different hand have an unfalsifiable faith. No volume of knowledge could convince them in any different case.

I don’t believe in any gods, so there is no fear there… but I do fear that crazy religious people that think I’m a ‘demon’ or something might try to end my life in the name of such gods.

Gods are invisible, intangible and in the minds of those that have “faith” in them; gods on their own cannot physically “harm” anyone. But, the people who “believe” in them can do much harm, both physically and mentally.

How can I fear God or his wrath when I know he doesn't exist?

This is illogical.

Atheism is (defined by Merriam-Webster's dictionary)

a : a disbelief in the existence of deity

b : the doctrine that there is no deity

To fear the wrath of god you would first have to acknowledge god's existence. I do not. Therefore I am not a theophobe. I am an atheist.

No. It is not rational to think that somebody fears what does not exist. It is Theists who would have: "An abnormal fear of the wrath of God or of God's punishment for sin.".

Please stop pretending your imaginary god-thing is real, and that atheists are afraid of it.

Neither is true.

And since your own religion's holy book claims "fear of god" is essential to your belief, you should be worried about YOU having that problem -- not us. We don't fear imaginary things.

How can we be afraid of something that doesn't exist? We afraid of Bigfoot and Cthulhu, too?

I neither hate nor fear religion, I just wish people would stop trying to shove it down my throat or using it to weasel their ways into the government.
