You can't lose it by sinning or being in Sin. You can lose it by denying Christ. Jesus said, "If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before the Father which is in Heaven." We do however have to be careful how we live our lives so that we do not come to that point.

What does God himself say about salvation or as it is defined, Deliverance from sin and its consequences? Is it a free gift? Can it be lost and if so can it be regained?

What does God himself say about salvation or as it is defined, Deliverance from sin and its consequences?

1 Chronicles 16:23  Sing to Jehovah, all YOU of the earth! Announce from day to day the salvation he gives!

So salvation belongs to God. And it is important to tell others about the means he has instituted to give us this wonderful gift.

Is it a free gift?

Revelation 22:17  And the spirit and the bride keep on saying: “Come!” And let anyone hearing say: “Come!” And let anyone thirsting come; let anyone that wishes take life’s water free.

So yes the gift of life is free.

Can it be lost and if so can it be regained?

1 Peter 2:1-4  1Accordingly, put away all badness and all deceitfulness and hypocrisy and envies and all sorts of backbiting, 2[and,] as newborn infants, form a longing for the unadulterated milk belonging to the word, that through it YOU may grow to salvation, 3provided YOU have tasted that the Lord is kind.

4Coming to him as to a living stone, rejected, it is true, by men, but chosen, precious, with God,

Did you notice in verse 1 that he was encouraging those that where doing bad to put away the bad they where doing and as verse 2 encourages them to grow to salvation. This would no doubt take allot of work. So effort is required to keep it although the gift is free.

Also you may remember that Gods chosen people received blessings when they obeyed Jehovah however faced serious consequences when they didn't. When they turned around from there bad course they where welcomed back. This also applies to individuals as illustrated by the prodigal son at luke 15:10-20. It's a wonderful a touching story to read that shows that Jehovah is ready and willing to forgive when a person is truly repentant and turns there life around.

Scripture is clear that God will never leave us or forsake us and that we are secure if we remain in him, just as Noah was safe as long as he stayed within the ark. That being said; Salvation does not rob us of free will and in fact many disciples left Jesus because they lost their faith and eventually their salvation. Noah could have went for a little swim during the 40 days of rain and possibly died or perhaps by the grace of God, made it back in the ark to safety.

A complicated study of scripture is needed to see exactly what Salvation is;

Salvation is three-fold (triune):

1. Justification - the moment we believe in Jesus and the finished work of the cross we are accepted by God and considered innocent as though we had never sinned (Rom. 3:21-26, 5:1). This is legal and possible because Jesus bore our burden on the cross, and was our propitiation (2 Cor. 5:21, 1 John 2:2). In this regard Christians have been saved from the PENALTY of sin in the past (at the moment of repentance).

2. Sanctification - all believers are currently becoming holy; moving from 'glory to glory' (2 Cor. 3:18) as we progressively mature in Christ and learn to overcome the sin nature that is still within us. We are at different stages of sanctification and this explains why some Christians have no problem swearing, yet others are beyond reproach in their personal walk with God. Although we are susceptible to disobedience Christians are no longer bound (captive) by sin and God through Jesus Christ has made perfection available to us as we submit to him and read the word (John 17:17), trust in the blood (Heb. 13:12) and walk in the Holy Spirit (1 Pet. 1:2). In this regard we are being saved from the POWER of sin at the present moment.

3. Glorification - the scriptures teach that some day we will be completely saved, and made into the exact likeness of Jesus Christ (1 John 3:2) without a sin nature, and our bodies made incorruptible (1 Cor. 15:52). In this regard we will be saved from the PRESENCE of sin in the future when Christ returns.

Salvation is a life long technique, no longer a one time component of asserting you suspect in Jesus. We could desire to paintings on our salvation daily, by making use of protecting the commandments, by making use of going to confession, by making use of repenting,in seek of forgiveness for our sins,we additionally should pass to Mass and partake of the Sacraments "because of the fact the Bible says, i'm already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), yet I’m additionally being saved (a million Cor. a million:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and that i've got the wish that i visit be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, a million Cor. 3:12–15). like the apostle Paul i'm understanding my salvation in concern and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful self assurance interior the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)." Now this is my opinion! I believe that once you are saved it can not be taken away. But I do believe you can walk away from it. If you know something is a sin and you do it anyway knowing it is not Gods will and you chose not to do His will but your own. You have chosen to leave.

Matt.10:22

2Peter 2:20

Rev. 12:11

and many more.

But search this out for yourself. It is something we should all search out and not take someone else word for.

Jesus said that Christians can lose their salvation. Matthew 7:21-23.

Yes, it can be regained if they repent.

Yes one can lose it and of course gain it back. Being baptized does not save you, being baptized is repenting of your sins and making a public statement that you are ready to do your best to walk in Jesus's foot steps as closely as possible and lead a clean life continuing to grow and make adjustments along the way. Being dipped in water does not save you and allow you free access to a life of oops I did it agains over and over.

A repentant heart has to keep its self in check constantly.

The fact that there are many conflicting views reveal that salvation was created by men, not God.

Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
