in john 5:30 "I can of mine own self do nothing"
just this point . if he's god . HE CAN DO NOTHING ?and i take him as a saviour ?
explain to me this point clearly please !! . why he can do nothing . i need explnation because it's about where i'm going to spend eternity .
why jesus said "i can of mine own self do nothing"

he said also "My father is greater then I"
and also "My father is greater then ALL"

and he said in John 5:31 :
"If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true."
this is god ? god witnessing of himself but it's not true ? how about witnessing about me ? how that would be like
he said in JOhn 5:32
"There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true."

meaning it's the father who is god and not jesus because if jesus witness of himself . it won't be true . but if the father witness of him is true .

he said also in Mark 9:29
"Hear, O Israel; The Lord OUR God is one Lord:"

Did Jesus’ flesh dwell in safety after his death?

Unless Jesus’ body never underwent ‘decay’ during his lifetime he could not be God, but if it did not undergo ‘decay’ then he was not truly human.

Bible says that God is not man

‘God is not a man’ (Numbers 23:19)

‘For I am God, and not man’ (Hosea 11:9)

Jesus is called a man many times in the Bible

‘a man who has told you the truth’ (John 8:40)

‘Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know.’ (Acts 2:22)

‘He will judge the world in righteousness through a man whom He has appointed’ (Acts 17:31)

‘the man Christ Jesus’ (Tim. 2:5)

The Bible says that God is not a son of man

‘God is not a man nor a son of man’ (Numbers 23:19)

The Bible often calls Jesus ‘a son of man’ or ‘the son of man.’

‘so will the son of man be’ (Matthew 12:40)

‘For the son of man is going to come’ (Matthew 16:27)

‘until they see the son of man coming in His kingdom.’ (Matthew 28)

‘But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority’ (Mark 2:10)

‘because he is the son of man’ (John 5:27)

In the Hebrew scriptures, the ‘son of man’ is also used many times speaking of people (Job 25:6; Psalm 80:17; 144:3; Ezekiel 2:1; 2:3; 2:6-8; 3:1-3).

Since God would not contradict Himself by first saying He is not the son of a man, then becoming a human being who was called ‘the son of man’, he would not have done so. Remember God is not the author of confusion. Also, human beings, including Jesus, are called ‘son of man’ specifically to distinguish them from God, who is not a ‘son of man’ according to the Bible.

The Bible says that Jesus denied he is God

Jesus spoke to a man who had called him ‘good,’ asking him, ‘Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.’ (Luke 18:19)

And he said to him, ‘Why are you asking me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.’ (Matthew 19:17)

Jesus did not teach people that he was God

If Jesus had been telling people that he was God, he would have complimented the man. Instead, Jesus rebuked him, denying he was good, that is, Jesus denied he was God.

The Bible says that God is greater than Jesus

‘My Father is greater than I’ (John 14:28)

‘My father is greater than all.’ (John 10:29)

Jesus can not be God if God is greater than him. The Christian belief that the Father and son are equal is in direct contrast to the clear words from Jesus.

Jesus never instructed his disciples to worship him

‘When you pray, say Our Father which art in heaven.’ (Luke 11:2)

‘In that day, you shall ask me nothing. Whatsoever you ask of the Father in my name.’ (John 16:23)

‘The hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him

The simple fact is that God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and Jesus was and is a physical being. So while the two are one (John 10:30) they are also separate entities. Think of Jesus as the physical form of God (Col. 1:15).

While He was on Earth, Jesus put aside His Godly powers and made Himself only human, (Phil. 2:5-7) working through the power of the Holy Spirit and praying to the Father for guidance. This was to demonstrate how we should live, working through the power of the Holy Spirit, in submission to God’s will for our lives.

According to the Bible, John thought Jesus was God (John 1:1) Paul thought Jesus was God (Col 1:15), whoever wrote Hebrews thought Jesus was God (Hebrews 1:3) Jesus thought He was God (John 10:30) and God thought Jesus was God (Hebrews 1:8).

Jesus is 100% God and 100% man AT THE SAME TIME.

When mankind sinned, God Himself wanted to be our perfect sacrifice for sin and He was the only One perfect enough to be our sacrifice, but God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and spirits are invisible so it would not have been possible for God to be crucified. Therefore, God came to earth in the flesh form of Jesus Christ (John 1:14) in order to die on the Cross for us.

Therefore, when Jesus was dying on the Cross, it was God IN CHRIST, reconciling the world unto Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).

There are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ Rev 19:13) and the Holy Spirit and these three are one (1 John 5:7).

Jesus and His Father are One (John 10:30).

Jesus was IN THE FATHER and the Father was IN JESUS CHRIST (John 17: 21, 23).

If you are a born again Christian, Jesus has given you eternal life and you will never perish because neither the Father nor Jesus who are one, will allow anyone to snatch you out of their hands (John 10: 28-30).

It's not that Jesus can do nothing - period. But Jesus only came to do the will of the Father so as a human being He could do nothing of Himself (only what the Father told Him to do).

However, as 100% God, just as God was the one who created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1 & 2), so too Jesus Christ is God our Creator. Read John 1:1-3

You have done some research, I see. Jesus, no where in the Bible ever said that he was God.. Those early men of about the 4th century pushed for the Trinitarian dogma until, like the theory of evolution became taught as truth. Both are blasphemous LIES against Almighty God (Jehovah) and his Only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Learn more about where the belief of the trinity came from at www.jw.org or go to the library and do some more research. The truth can be found if you want it.

In the Army reserves, units have a civilian position called a "Unit Administrator." This position is only administrative and has no decision making authority.

This same person also holds a part time position usually as a Master Sergeant (E-8) which holds a very considerable amount of authority.

It is the same person, but their authority changes drastically depending on where they are, what uniform they are wearing (1 Tim. 3:16), and what position (role) they are filling.

This is kids stuff. Ask a hard question.

Look at the teaching of Muhammad ;

( No Muslim is a Muslim if he doesn't believe in Jesus the Christ )

( O believers, if anyone doesn't believe that Jesus was the only Christ, indeed he is not a Muslim at all )

We muslims , believe that Jesus was neither god nor the son of god..

Jesus the Christ was 1 of the 4 greatest Messengers of the Creator ..

Unlike the other prophets, Jesus himself is a miracle ..

The creator created him without a male ..

The Creator said ( be ) and it is .. Jesus ..

They said trinity ?

The holy bible ( OT and NT ) told that in the beginning he was 1 ..

This is what the holy Quran teaches ..

I am advising my dear Christian friends to read the Quran ..

Then decide ..

You will discover that Muslims are more Christian than the Christians themselves ..

The teaching that Jesus is God is a false religious teaching started by the Catholic Church and adopted by other religions when they protested and split from the Catholic Church.

Even the Catholic Church admits that it is not a Bible teaching and that the early Christians did not believe in it.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299.

According to the Nouveau Dictionnaire Universel, “The Platonic trinity, itself merely a rearrangement of older trinities dating back to earlier peoples, appears to be the rational philosophic trinity of attributes that gave birth to the three hypostases or divine persons taught by the Christian churches. . . . This Greek philosopher’s [Plato, fourth century B.C.E.] conception of the divine trinity . . . can be found in all the ancient [pagan] religions.”—(Paris, 1865-1870), edited by M. Lachâtre, Vol. 2, p. 1467.

What did Jesus mean when he said this? "The Bible itself explains. Earlier, Jesus had said: “I do nothing on my own authority but speak thus as the Father taught me. . . . I always do what is pleasing to him.” (John 8:28, 29, RS) So, Jesus faithfully represented his Father, speaking his Father’s words and doing his works. Yes, since Jesus reflected the personality of his Father perfectly, the disciples really came to know the Father through him."

John 14:28:

Yet Jesus repeatedly showed not equality but submission to the Father. He said he was sent by his Father, instructed by his Father, commanded what to say by his Father. (John 3:17; 5:36; 6:38; 12:49, 50) Jesus said that he “finished the work” his Father gave him to do, and that his followers “have come to know that you [the Father] sent me forth.”—John 17:4, 6, 18, 25.

7 Even Jesus’ enemies did not accuse him of saying he was God. Instead, they said he was making himself “equal to God” by calling God his Father. They wanted to kill Jesus because, as a well-known Roman Catholic translation puts it: “He spoke of God as his own Father, and so made himself God’s equal.” Jesus said: “I tell you most solemnly, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing: and whatever the Father does the Son does too.”—John 5:18, 19, The Jerusalem Bible.

8 Despite his highly exalted position, Jesus told his apostles: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) Some people say that was true only because Jesus was still on earth and that it is no longer true now that he has ascended to heaven. But that is not what the Bible says.

Hope this helps answer a couple of them. If you wish to learn more, talk to the group that I spoke with as they have more accurate Bible understanding than any religious group that I have ever experienced. That's because they compare all related scriptures on any given subject and allow the Bible to interpret itself in that way. That group is Jehovah's Witnesses!

"The Plain Sense of Scripture

Would we say that the idea that Jesus was a god and not the same as God the Creator is contrary to Johannine (that is, the apostle John’s) thought, as well as Christian thought as a whole? Let us examine some Bible texts that refer to Jesus and to God, and we will see what some commentators who lived before the Athanasian Creed was formulated thought about those texts.

“I and the Father are one.”—JOHN 10:30.

Novatian (c. 200-258 C.E.) commented: “Since He said ‘one’ thing,[] let the heretics understand that He did not say ‘one’ person. For one placed in the neuter, intimates the social concord, not the personal unity. . . . Moreover, that He says one, has reference to the agreement, and to the identity of judgment, and to the loving association itself, as reasonably the Father and Son are one in agreement, in love, and in affection.”—Treatise Concerning the Trinity, chapter 27.

“The Father is greater than I am.”—JOHN 14:28.

Irenaeus (c. 130-200 C.E.): “We may learn through Him [Christ] that the Father is above all things. For ‘the Father,’ says He, ‘is greater than I.’ The Father, therefore, has been declared by our Lord to excel with respect to knowledge.”—Against Heresies, Book II, chapter 28.8.

Imagine having windows 8 software on your pc. your pc has all these capabilities and the bulk of your files. you then install windows 8 on your mobile device, which does not have all the capabilities of the PC, however it can bluetooth to the PC and have acess to certain things, but not everything.

same windows 8 on both items, but each item different in capability.

as for mark 9:29

go back to the original text and you will find that "ONE" was not talking about math but rather unity, which is the total opposite of the numerical 1. (you cannot unite something that only exists as 1 but one ness is quite different)

jesus as human could do nothing

jesus as god could do anything

John 1:1

King James Version (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word (jesus), and the Word (jesus) was with God, and the Word (jesus) was God.

Hebrews 1:2-3

King James Version (KJV)

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3 Who (jesus) being the brightness of his (the fathers) glory, and the express image of his (the fathers) person, and upholding all things by the word of his (jesus) power, when he (jesus) had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

It is my experience that Christians defend their beliefs not because their beliefs have a basis on the bible, or even in their own experience but simply because for many of us what it means to have faith = not changing what you believe.

So the evidence you present here against the trinity will be lost on most of us, they simply will not accept it, not because it is not compelling or because it is not true, but because it is different than what they currently think.

At this point, only God can reach them.

You are over-thinking this.

As part of the Trinity, the Godhead speaks among themselves... Three-In-One.

Jesus spoke those words for the same reason that the Father is quoted in Genesis 1:26,27....

"Let us make man in our own image..."

When your own spirit is troubled, or looking for direction, do you not speak to yourself on occasion?

Jesus is NOT GOD. Until Christians understand that they are making all other scriptures null and void of the truth, they will never have the true meanings of scriptures. People need to study for themselves and learn the truth. Scriptures do not contradict themselves. GOD is not a man.

Jesus is not God. John 17:3 " this means everlasting life, their taking knowledge of you, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and of the one you sent forth , JESUS CHRIST "...and John 14;28 " the FATHER is greater than I am ".....Luke 23;46 " and Jesus called with with a loud voice and said " FATHER into your hands I entrust my spirit and when he said this , he expired ".....Jesus is God like and powerful, but, clearly, he is the Son of God, sent forth by GOD whose name is Jah, Jahweh, Jehovah. ....his death cleansed our sins, He died for us....1 Peter 3: 18.....

My fellow atheist, it is not necessary to put a space between the word and period/question mark.
