Is there anything worse than christian rock?

my dad and step-mom are pastors, so when i ride in the car w/ either of them i have to hear this. Apparently the keyboard is still very popular in most Christian rock bands. I usually drive my own car instead of ride w/ them when we do stuff together.

"Christian rock" is just another type of music that's carefully marketed to a specific audience. It's really nothing more than watered-down modern rock with evangelical lyrics thrown on top. It's not like "Gospel", which has its own sound and musical style that you can recognize on its own. Christian rock is largely sold to people who need a constant "Christian" environment around them for fear of having a crisis of faith.



These people think that buy buying "Christian rock", they're somehow above the crowd, or doing something "for the Lord". They're not. They're just buying into a mass-marketed fad. I say that if you like a particular band, go ahead and buy it, but don't kid yourself into thinking you're special for buying it.



What I really don't get is Christian death metal. I mean, if you can't discern the lyrics in the first place, what's the point?

I'd rather do hymns... but not those "old time" hymns. Some are still worth singing, others are not. I despise Christian rock. Ever since Christian radio became a must for every Christian from here to Beijing, it makes my stomach crawl. I don't know why. Not a fan.

Christian Rock, don't hate it but it's not something I would listen to. Is it odd, or out of place? Yes, I think so. I listen to POD, but I don't like the hip hop culture at all, and they seem to be coming from that route. I like most of the music they make, except some because of the thug lyrics Sonny adds, trying to make it sound rough. I could listen to other stuff, but Christian Rock, not my style, and POD, kind of funny sometimes.

There are actually quite a few Christian rock bands that are really good! (Though I'm sure there are many bad ones out there too..). Get them to buy some CD's by either Flyleaf or Skillet. I actually listen to both of those..

You are not listening to the right bands. Skillet and Demon Hunter are awesome another is Family Force 5. You just have to look. Go onto Demon Hunter's site and listen some of their stuff is really heavy.
