What is the true meaning of christmas, and who decided what the meaning was?

How can christmas have any meaning at all since its not even jesus's real birthday.

He was born some time in the spring.

Christmas is Jesus' birthday. There are people out there trying to take it away, but they'll never do it.



Christmas always has and always will be the day Christ was born. That is the reason for the season. NOBODY can EVER get rid of Christmas. It's here to stay. Christ is here to stay.



There is a wonderful new album out by a woman who is not afraid to talk about the REAL meaning of Christmas. It's called Christmas in the Ancient Church, and it's choral music. All the parts are sung by one woman. Soprano, alto, tenor and bass. She does Christmas readings from the Bible also. I suppose they'll try to ban these CD's too, but I'm glad SOMEBODY is putting out CDs that are for CHRISTMAS, not just some pagan ritual or rock music. It's an awesome CD. No one really knows the exact date that Jesus Christ took on a human form by being born of a virgin, (see Philippians 2 in the Bible.) However, it is the date that has been selected to celebrate that wonderful day when he did take on a human form so that He could die for our sins.

It's kind of like participating in communion, or the Lord's Supper, at church. We are not really re-crucifying Christ when we eat the unleavened bread and drink the wine or juice, but we are using those items to remind us of the fact that Jesus Christ died in our place for our sins.

Christmas day is simply a day that is set aside that Christians specifically use to remember Christ's virgin birth. (Actually, the faithful Christians will take a little time every day to thank the Lord for Jesus Christ's virgin birth.)

I am a Christian and Christmas means nothing to me. It's a time to do what God tells me just like any other day. I like that. He is liberating.

Christmas is a celebration of the Good News that God sent the Messiah (His son, Jesus Christ) to save us. The timing doesn't matter. In Luke 2, the Bible says: "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

God's gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ, His son.

The gospel is this good news from God.

The gospel is simply this:

Man has sinned by violating God’s perfect holy law, therefore deserving eternal punishment in Hell. (This means all people, including you and me. We have ALL sinned.) Jesus, God’s only Son, came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross as a substitute for us. (The debt we owe must be paid, and we can't do it.) Jesus’ death was to satisfy God’s justice and set us free from the bondage of sin and death. (Jesus paid our debt for us by suffering on the cross. Without Jesus, Hell is inevitable.) To receive that gift (God‘s gift of eternal life,) we must humble ourselves, believe on Jesus to save us, repent of our sins, and follow Him the rest of our lives. (Repent means to turn from sin, not only to be sorry for. We are called to live holy lives. We must acknowledge Him as Lord in obedience in every part of our lives.)

Jesus came to save us.

My hope for you this Christmas is that you may comprehend the magnificence of God’s gracious gift, accept and follow Christ all the days of your life, and when eternity comes, find yourself in Heaven with Him!
