Now that the Watchtower has released the 2013 edition of the New World Translation, do you have to get the new one? Or will you carry on using your 1984 edition? If so, why?

It's funny how JWs were denying that the Watchtower would release a New New World Translation ...

They claimed that the rumours were lies made up by ex JWs and critics...

that the NWT was the best translation with modern English ,and needed no revising.

Now that the NNWT is out. .JWs are all over praising their new Bible.

At the Annual meeting , it was said that the publications would start using the new Bible in January..so obviously JWs will also be expected to use it.

Anytime the WBTS puts out literature, they are severely criticized by opposers and detractors which is what biased Trinitarian scholars are. Trinitarian scholar Rob Bowman had a debate with Jason Beduhn which he ended up very much regretting. It's very doubtful that he will ever try to debate Jason Beduhn again. Also, go to Youtube and search "Jehovah's Witness vs Christian" and watch Watchtower representative Greg Stafford absolutely destroy him. When it got to questioning each other, Stafford had to ask the same question at least 13 times at which point I lost track. White was extremely evasive and could not answer ONE single question put to him on Greek translation. Stafford finally delivered the message that Trinitarian scholars so richly deserved, namely that they should be ashamed of themselves for the debased reproach they have brought on the WBTS and the NWT due to their refusal to accept factual and known Greek translation regarding the use of the definite article at John 1:1. So much for trinitarian scholars and their dishonest biased opinions.

Truth In Translation is an excellent book by Jason BeDuhn. He praises the NWT as the best available.

Many times our critics say that we render things inaccurately to support our own doctrines. But Beduhn points out that the same could be said of the scholars that render things their own way. They want to support their doctrine.

Regardless of whatever, Bible one uses Hellfire and the Trinity can be disproven. When we go to people's doors and are told: "You have your own Bible" we always offer to use their own translation. We also have many different versions of the Bible in our homes and lexicons and Concordances to look up words.

Before we had the NWT, we used the KJV and others and still didn't teach the Trinity and Hellfire. So it isn't a simple case of us being brainwashed because of the translation we are using.

Most of our members are converts from other religions and used other Bibles before every looking into the NWT. So it can't be said that they only know the NWT.

And there is one more reason why JWs are on solid ground when we defend our Bible. We take the time to research it. Most of the ones who say: "You have your own Bible don't"

When one is always on the defense they go to the effort to prove themselves. They look a little harder for truth than the accuser.

I have started a comparative Bible reading/listening schedule. This is because I am interested in what has been revised such as syntax and word choice. I read the revised NWTand listen to the '84 edition recordings. Our congregation has started using the revised NWT at meetings and on field service.

It will take a while until everyone has a revised NWT, but the goal is to have the revised NWT printed in every language that the Watchtower is printed in. So both editions will co-exist for sometime.

It's funny how Mimi keeps saying, "JWs were denying that the Watchtower would release a New New World Translation," as if, somehow, that was a general statement made by JWs on y!a.

I'm a JW and I have never said any such thing, and I know that the majority of JWs on y!a would not venture to make such a comment that they could not verify.

It's funny how people like Mimi are content to make a misleading comment like that when what she should say is that a couple of JW forum members made such a denial.

It's funny how Mimi doesn't understand that her comment is, effectively, a distortion of the facts.

But then, I guess we should not be surprised. [2 Peter 2:20-22]

==============

Edit: All that you have done is verify what I have said. You get a couple of answerers [that were clearly incorrect] saying that no new NWT is in the pipeline and Mimi makes a generalization, effectively applying the answers of a couple of JWs as somehow representing all JWs.

When someone in a high-rise building pushes the alarm button and everyone in the whole building evacuates, but it turns out to be a false alarm, do you blame everyone in the building? From Mimi's answer and your comment, it would seem that you both do.

The first pages are introductory Watch Tower dogma. This is quick reference for JWs in door to door work without carrying around a Make Sure book. Many denominational bibles have an equivalent in the back of the bible along with the index.

It is interesting that the Watch Tower uses the words "current translation comm..." and does not give any names or qualifications.

No, we can keep using the 1984 version. If you read the reason for the revision of the Bible and what has been done you will see the benefits. As soon my Bible is worn out, [which won't be long], I will replace it with the new 2013 version; why should anyone stop using a serviceable Bible?

With the language being updated to what is used today, it will make reading and understanding easier for those studying, and the 20 questions that are answered from page 5-37 will help many as they give a brief explanation and direct ones to the scripture/s and the page/s the scriptures are on; A useful tool in the ministry.

The new Library [available for android also] is brilliant, especially as verses of different versions can be viewed side by side, such as the K.J.V and the N.W.T

Why not have a free home Bible study and learn what the Bible really says, just ask via www.jw.org or when we call on you.

Hi, my name is Helen, and I'm new here. I'm exJW known as an 'apostate'. Interested in this new bible they've released. Someone on an exJW forum said the first 11 verses of John 8 have been removed - the part about the woman who sinned and JC told the pharisees 'let he who is sinless cast the first stone'. Can anyone verify that for me please?

We dont "have to" do anything i'm looking forward to reading my new pretty in silver revised edition front to back but the older edition will be good for reference .

at didact i think you read a little more into both those things than you should have ive never heard a show or anything be called out by name i have heard warning about exposing yourself to things in entertainment that often express immoral values i doubt it was the fact sexual origin of the characters that was the actual message but if thats what you got out of it perhaps you should do a little more research as to what jehovahs standards truly are and how to use those principles in conjunction with choosing entertainment fact the brother are not gonna tell you "don't watch glee it has a gay kid " just not gonna happen

The 1984 version is fine. The new version makes it easier to understand using up to date language to simplify the message. No mystery there. This newer version does not change that message. It makes the message easier to understand.

@Zach the whole English language is pretty much bastardized dude. Educate yourself before you make ignorant comments.

There is no reason to trust anything from the JW leadership charlatans .

I heard the new bible was "sister" proof, whatever that means.

I bit off topic, but I went to a JW convention once, and they had a demonstration where a father talked his kids out of watching glee because it featured homosexuals.

Pretty cultish.

I cant wait to get mine

If you got a new phone would you leave it in its box and use the old one?

The new version is designed to be of greater use in helping people understand the truths in scripture - because of my poor memory, I am grateful for that

You mean a revised edition of the Bible. If you go to the book store you see many Bibles that have been revised. I don't see anybody on here talking about any of the other Bibles that have been revised.

The NT is still based upon the CORRUPT Alexandrian manuscripts.....plus a few little zingers from the Watchtower.

Don't use either version. Both are bastardized and deserve no consideration.
