What is your religions about? What do you believe? Why do you not believe Jesus is the son of God? (Not saying you should believe that I am just curious why?) What do you think of sin and Hell?

From what I have heard about the religion it sounds more suitable to me so I want to know more.

Sorry if I spelt Judaism wrong, not sure how to spell it?:S

Here are our core beliefs:

- we worship one G-d, and only one G-d

- our G-d is indivisble and does not splinter off into sections as with the Christian 'trinity'

- our G-d NEVER takes human form; the mere idea is blasphemy to Jews

- we believe that all humans are equal, we are ALL G-d's children

- we believe that the righteous of all faiths have a place in heaven

- we believe that the Jewish messiah will come and he will be a mortal, of flesh and blood, born of a human mother and father

- we believe that the Jewish messiah will usher in an age of world peace, he will rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, he will unite all Jews in Israel and bring Torah to the world.

- we believe that good deeds are more important than 'belief'.

- we believe that, as G-d says in the Torah, the covenant between the Jews and G-d is ETERNAL.

What Jews do NOT believe

- we do not believe in eternal 'hell'; there is no such thing in Judaism

- we do not believe in 'original sin'

- we do not believe in the 'devil' in the way that Christianity does

- we do NOT accept that Jesus was the JEWISH messiah

- we do not believe in any such thing as a 'virgin birth'

- we do not believe that any man can sacrifice himself for the sins of others and indeed, in the Torah G-d makes it CLEAR that this is unacceptable!

- we do not worship *any* human, ever

- we do not believe that we need to be 'saved'

- we do NOT view Jesus as a 'prophet'; he does not feature at all in Judaism

As you can see, Judaism and Christianity are profoundly different.

Hope this has helped to answer your post; please feel welcome to ask anything else you'd like to know about Judaism :)

EDIT

- I just have to correct a few things in other answers:

Jesus did not fulfill ANY of the Jewish messianic prophecies. Not even one. The Jewish messiah MUST fulfill them ALL in *one normal human lifetime*.

Also: as Jews we do not believe we are a 'chosen race'. We are not a 'race' at all - if we were how could anyone convert to or from Judaism?

And 'chosen' DOES NOT MEAN 'special' nor 'superior'. It just means 'chosen' to keep more laws.

ALSO: we do not 'discourage' conversion.

We are not allowed to TRY and persuade others to convert. That is a bit different from 'discouraging'!

Anyone can convert to Judaism and all are welcome IF it is what they truly feel is right FOR THEM.

Judaism does not claim to be the 'only' path to G-d.

Judaism is 'one' path to G-d, not 'the' path to G-d.

I can't say that I am a full-blown Jew, but I have studied the religion and have been raised as such. If you don't mind, I will answer your question in numbered form (My favorite!)

1. from what I have read and what I believe, our religion is based on Life, and making the best of it. We do not focus on the afterlife as much as other religious groups, but do believe in one. We are very close to God, and to gain forgivness, all we have to do is ask.

2.I do not believe Jesus was the messiah fo multiple reasons. If you read the messianistic text's in Isaiah, you cna see that there are a few porphecies that Jesus did not fulfill. I will not into depth on them, and will leave the reading to you.

3.I do not know the Jewish way of thinking of sin because it does not come up often. To my knowledge, all you must do to be forgiven for your sins is ask and be sincerly sorry for them. As for Hell, w do not have that, but we do have Sheol. Sheol is the place undedr the Earth where demons come from. You don't really get sent there, though. God has other ways of punishing us for our sins....

Jews believe in one, indivisible God, and that the Jewish people are His chosen race and a 'light to the Gentiles'. They don't believe Jesus was God because that would violate the indivisibility of God and contradict the OT. Jews have a concept of sin, but not of Hell. They believe that all people can reach Heaven after Judgement day if they are righteous and not idolators.

For this reason, Jews discourage conversion. Instead, they believe that non-Jews should just try to live in accordance with the moral code of the Torah.

I am not Jewish. But here goes.

The 13 Principles of Faith

(Maimonides, 12th Century c.e.)

1. G-d is the Creator and Ruler of all things. He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.

2. G-d is One. There is no unity that is in any way like His. He alone is our G-d He was, He is, and He will be.

3. G-d does not have a body. physical concepts do not apply to Him. There is nothing whatsoever that resembles Him at all.

4. G-d is first and last.

5. It is only proper to pray to G-d. One may not pray to anyone or anything else.

6. All the words of the prophets are true.

7. The prophecy of Moses is absolutely true. He was the chief of all prophets, both before and after Him.

8. The entire Torah that we now have is that which was given to Moses.

9. TheTorah will not be changed, and there will never be another given by G-d.

10. G-d knows all of man's deeds and thoughts.

11. G-d rewards those who keep His commandments, and punishes those who transgress Him.

12. The coming of the Messiah, no matter how long it takes, I will await His coming every day.

13. The dead will be brought back to life when G-d wills it to happen.

Also the Messiah must fulfil the propecies as laid out in Hebrew.

1. He must be Jewish - "...you may appoint a king over you, whom the L-rd your G-d shall choose: one from among your brethren shall you set as king over you." (Deuteronomy 17:15)

2. He must be a member of the tribe of Judah - "The staff shall not depart from Judah, nor the sceptre from between his feet..." (Genesis 49:10)

If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, then he cannot be "The Messiah."

3. He must be a direct male descendant of King David and King Solomon, his son - "And when your days (David) are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall issue from your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will make firm the throne of his kingdom forever..." (2 Samuel 7:12 - 13)

4. He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel -"And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth." (Isaiah 11:12)

5. He must rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem - "...and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever and my tabernacle shall be with them.." (Ezekiel 37:26 - 27)

6. He will rule at a time of world-wide peace - "...they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore." (Micah 4:3)

7. He will rule at a time when the Jewish people will observe G-d's commandments - "My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow My ordinances and be careful to observe My statutes." (Ezekiel 37:24)

8. He will rule at a time when all people will come to acknowledge and serve one G-d - "And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, says the L-rd" (Isaiah 66:23)

They have no belief in original sin or hell. Anyone even non-Jews can go to Heaven if they lead a good life. The not so good go to Gehenna for a period of time before heaven. The bad go to the grave.

Try asking this question when it is not Shabbat, you will get more Jewish responces

Jews think like this....

One God, and sheol yes.....eternal hell. That is what Jews believe.

Jesus was just another ravelrouser that tried to immitate the prophecies that had been tauth to him by the Jewish religion of that day. Lots of people got called son of god in those days.

The following is my belief....
