In Australia the JWs are charged with ongoing breaches of Victoria's Working With Children Act because of unsupervised contact between adults and minors within the church.

The charge named seven local Jehovah's Witness elders allegedly engaging in child-related work without obtaining a police clearance.

What child related work are the Jehovah's Witnesses in?

Do the JWs run a youth ministry, day care center or Sunday school for children?

There is no child related work that we are in... there is no youth ministry, day care center or sunday school for children.

That is their parents responsibility.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9

King James Version (KJV)

6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

it incredibly is a interest, to verify. we don't run a youthful human beings ministry. we've not got day care centers. And our coaching of the youngsters occurs alongside adults, purely because it did in the days of Moses' expounding on the regulation till now the congregated peoples. a suited biblical studies with little ones will continually be by employing mothers and dads, so because it isn't the subject. If analyzing with youthful adults, there'll continually be a minimum of two human beings as properly the guy analyzing. That the elders as an entire have been charged tells me that this is someway bearing directly to the events of our organization. I ask which you count on your own thoughts as they provide the effect of being like precise. The elders, ministerial servants and others circulate by large efforts to be sure that allegations like this are never further against us because it would mirror negatively upon Jehovah's excellent call. despite the fact that, human beings being who and what they're, it incredibly is inevitable that some thing like this may be completed. If this is genuine... which I exceptionally and essentially doubt... then those men understand they're answerable to Jesus and Jehovah for any faulty step. yet contemporary criminal activity in Russia lead me to have faith that if this ever is going till now a Justice of the Peace, they are going to be chanced on harmless of all incorrect-doing, and that the guy or persons who further those fake allegations and quotes against them replaced into purely bitter and accusatory. return on your learn and notice for your self that all and sundry is clean in the congregation.

This is one thing that always seemed off about JWs, the way they take very young children (toddlers in strollers) with them when they go door to door. Some doorstep conversations get pretty tense. Young children pick up on the tension, but they aren't old enough to process it or take it in stride. It's obvious that the toddler is getting scared and stressed, but JW mom just ignores the kid and just keeps slinging Bible verses at the homeowner. Honestly, I don't think a young child ought to be put through that.

As another witness said, Jehovah's Witnesses aren't into any child related work. We teach that it is the parent's responsibility to teach their children about the bible. Children come to the meetings with their parents, sit with the them, and leave with them. They aren't taken to another room with other adults. Everything that happens at the meetings is open to the public and is visible to everyone who attends. Yes, we do take our kids preaching with us to include them in the amazing priviledge we have of carrying out Jesus commandment to preach the good news of the kingdom. We make it fun for them while teaching them the importance of what we are doing. They also learn that not everybody is friendly and we can show them from the bible why it is that way and how it will soon change.

Critics claim that in numerous cases, members of Jehovah's Witnesses have been prevented from reporting child molestation to civil authorities.

Doctrinally, Jehovah's Witnesses handle all matters internally, which in recent years prompted accusations and lawsuits of a systematic sex offender cover-up. Recent policies sent to elders in 2002 state: "Child abuse is a crime. Never suggest to anyone that they should not report an allegation of child abuse to the police or other authorities. If you are asked, make it clear that whether to report the matter to the authorities or not, is a personal decision for each individual to make and that there are no congregation sanctions for either decision. That is, no elder will criticize anyone who reports such an allegation to the authorities". This has been the Watchtower Society's position since at least 1993, when a memo to elders stated: "It is also a personal decision if the alleged victim chooses to report such accusations to the secular authorities."

Particularly since around 2000, the Jehovah's Witnesses organization has been accused of covering up cases of child molestation committed by their members. In February 2001, Christianity Today—an evangelical journal that disagrees with the theological perspective of Jehovah's Witnesses—printed an article reporting allegations that Jehovah's Witnesses' policies made reporting sexual abuse difficult for members, and did not conform to typical treatment of such cases. The article also included a response by representatives of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The BBC reported on the controversy around Jehovah's Witnesses child abuse in July 2002, in the Panorama program "Suffer the Little Children" Jehovah's Witnesses headquarters published their response to many of the allegations made in the program, the substance of which is found in the article Jehovah's Witnesses and Child Protection on their official website.

According to Witness spokesman J. R. Brown, Jehovah's Witnesses are not required to report crimes to elders before calling civil authorities. Victims and their families are free to call police at will, he said, although some don't choose to. A circular sent to elders in the USA stated: "In those states where such is required, oftentimes the parent, the guardian, or the accused person himself can do the reporting. In this way the confidentiality protected by ecclesiastical privilege is not violated." The Watchtower Society maintains its existing policy, without an explicit requirement for elders to report all child abuse cases where such is not mandatorily required by law. In at least one case, elders urged a perpetrator himself to go to police.

Very timely, and relevant question.

I was a member for 40 years, and watched dozens of small children herded along as chattel.

They are forced to sit quietly for hours at a time, and are not allowed to "play" with small toys or have smalltalk, or any outbursts or crying...if they do, they are whisked off to the lavatory for a "refresher course" in Kingdom Hall manners.

The gravely dangerous and dark side of Jehovah's Witnesses is artfully hidden, and in most case ignored by elders, and parents, because of the intense pressure on all members to never "bring reproach on Jehovah's name".

This "protection of a name" has also included the intentional protection of pedophiles within the ranks of Jehovah's Witnesses, and the hiding of, and paying out of Millions of dollars of donation monies provided by the hundreds of thousands of households in the sect, have been use to "silence" the victims of this abuse. (there are numerous records on file of payoffs much like the Catholic Church in structure.)

The "child related work" in Australia, is associated with what they refer to as "Kingdom service", door to door work, Bible studies, theocratic ministry school, and just plain "baby setting", and the leaving of small children in the care, and instruction of unsupervised, but known (by the elders) pedophiles, by the church hierarchy, that has resulted in the sexual rape and molestation of many young ones, not only in Australia, but on a worldwide scale.

Mr. Matthew 4-10's answer is an example of the attempt to "gloss-over", or hide the activities of the church leaders, as he views his protecting them, as though he is actually protecting God's name.

We feel sorry for members like him, who if they do not change their viewpoints, will suffer the reward of those that do not "suffer the little children unto me" as were the words of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Thank you for this excellent question. If you or any others here have further questions, please direct them here, and they will be honestly answered.

These Children are being raped by trusted brothers. Where do these rapes take place? The pedophile brother "Grooms" and meets these kids in the Kingdom Hall setting, makes friends with the parents, then volunteers to watch them when the parents have to go to a convention, assembly, or just need to have some time for themselves...so this is the problem, the pedophiles need to be identified, and the parents need to know WHO they are, because it is a proven fact, pedophiles are not "curable". they are a sick bunch, whom Jesus said should be given a visit to Davey Jones locker.
