HALLOWEEN IS FAR FROM HOLY

Known for its witches, goblins, and other grotesque decorations and paraphernalia, Halloween—also called All Hallows’ Eve or the eve of All Saints’ Day—can be traced back to the ancient Celts of Britain and Ireland. On the full moon nearest November 1, they celebrated the festival of Samhain, meaning “Summer’s End.” They believed that during Samhain, the veil between the human and the supernatural worlds was parted and that spirits, both good and evil, roamed the earth. The souls of the dead were thought to return to their homes, and families would put out food and drink for their ghostly visitors in hopes of appeasing them. Thus, when children today, dressed as ghosts or witches, go from house to house threatening a mischievous trick unless they receive a treat, they unwittingly perpetuate the rituals of Samhain.

AsChristian we would not want to participate in these pagan holidays.Halloween’s roots, although not found in the Bible, can be traced back to a pagan origin. The pre-Christian Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all celebrated a festival for the dead. These ancients believed that on these occasions the spirits of the dead returned; therefore food was left for them and lamps were kept burning so they would not lose their way.

Halloween is 2nd most “holy” days on the Satanists’ calendar are Walpurgis Night and Halloween.

4. Trick or treaters

So, if you don't want to buy candy, turn off the lights and close the door. Nobody is forcing you to participate, so don't. It's free will. Nobody ever said Halloween was holy. Nice rant.

My family is Pagan, we honor our ancestors at Sahmain and celebrate the harvest.

Not really like the folklore you describe, though. We don't do anything to "appease" them and don't believe they're good or evil.

We simply honor their memory... and I suppose if there is a soul that lives on after death, it might come by.

Trust me... when kids put on costumes to go trick or treating, it has nothing to do with my religion.

Last year three little kids (certainly no older than kindergarten age) came to the house identically dressed as that white-masked killer from the Scream movie franchise. How these four or five-year-old kids even KNEW about that movie is (still) beyond me!

So, our house evidently attracts kids whose parents have a much more lax attitude about what they expose their kids to than I did when our daughter was their age!

The only thing attracted to my house on halloween are some kids looking for free candy.

Oh, and P.S., none of what you copy/pasted about Halloween demonstrates any kind of unholiness. Dyckhed.

4. Stray cats. It seems that the strays show up looking for homes right around the end of October.

Isn't that right, Mr. Pushy Cat? I gave him a treat and he just moved right in.

Great question. Halloween in no way honors God but honors satan and the demons, the dead and witchcraft.

lol I love how people think that Halloween is a evil holiday. there is technically a dark side to us all and this time of year is to purge us of it. To me is one of the holiest night of the year. And one of the few days that christians didn't take from us.
