Jesus, legendary magician?

Is it rue to say that Jesus was the first maga magician and people like David Copperfield and Paul McKenna are just trying to copy him and is that why Jesus said he would not tolerate imitators?

That's my opinion, if he were anything other than a magician why not preform some serious miracles like stopping war and starvation? Also that's supposing he existed at all. Just a thought but if some of today's talented magicians could do some of their tricks in those days would we all be praying to David Copperfield etc?

Ask the wiccans and they will list Moses as one of the top magicians though he was more a great prophet than a magician. A magician just tricks your eyes into believing something miraculous has happened while the truth would be otherwise. Jesus was God. He is also the Saviour of mankind. No magician would come anywhere near to these qualifications. Enlighten me with David Copperfield and Paul Mckenna - who were they and what did they do?

I would not say it is true, Simon Magi was in the old and new testament. The word Simony comes from him. The three Magi visited Jesus at birth. Isis, Horus and Osiris predated Christ and employed magic, also Noah, King Solomon. Jesus, was a true healer and a true magician never claims the power to be their own. Personally I think Paul McKenna and David Copperfield are like tricksters, entertainment it may be but it is not miraculous, or magic.

He was described as a magician in the Jewish texts (an extra biblical reference many forget) but that is to be expected of the people that crucified him.

John 3: 14 to 20. The fact his apostles went from running away to standing in the market and mostly dying a violent death show this was no tickster. No one will die to protect David Copperfield's illusions especially something like crucifiction.



As for the Crucifixion if the person escaped or survived the Roman practised was for that guard to take his place so we can be sure that the guards were sure and that is why he was pierced with the spear. John 19: 34.
