Question:
I am trying to find a religion..why is it hard?

I used to be a JW...I disassociated myself with them. I still respect them as a religion but disagree with some things. So lately I have been trying to find a church to go to but it has been difficult. I wanted to know if someone could point me in the right direction. I hate that JW's dis-fellowship people...i mean i get why they do it, but JW's are still allowed to be in contact with other family members who clearly do not want any part of the religion..so why can t u stay in contact with a member who just decided it wasn't for them?

I absolutely do not believe in the trinity...Jesus repeatedly said "the Father is greater than I" which makes clear that they are not co-equal.

I do not believe in worshiping idols

im kind of torn about holidays...while i do believe they have pagan origins i see the importance of remembering how Jesus was born and his sacrifice. Is there a religion that commemorates those but doesn't play into pagan traditions?

I absolutely do not believe in infant baptizing...we are suppose to follow Jesus' example....and he got baptized when he was 30...meaning he was able to comprehend what was going on around him and made that choice by himself.

Honestly I would just really like a church that upholds the Bibles teachings and wont shun me because im married to a military man.

I also hated the fact that JW's dont really push their members to get a good education. I understand we are put on earth to preach God's word but I doubt he likes the fact that they subject themselves to lower income jobs, they feed off government assistance and are not good active members of society.

Also while God wants his people to be "no part of the world" I dont think he means to shun everyone who is different.

And dont even get me started on all the women I saw being pushed into staying with their abusive husbands because they are so afraid to displease God by getting a divorce. I dont understand how they would want their members to stay in unhealthy abusive sick relationships. Would that mean they believe God would want that too???

So any help would be nice...I'm kind of lost right now.

I would strongly encourage you to find a church at http://wec.upci.org/churches/locator/ that believes in, teaches, and practices the original, apostolic, New Testament conversion experience. You may not embrace all of their beliefs, but the Biblical conversion experience will definitely change your life! Why not give it a try? What can it hurt?

God bless you!

My dear I studied main stream relgions they were founded by mortal men. Why would people want to follow someones idea of what is right. I like you have studied my own and found that to be corrupted start looking at other relgions there not any better they just think they are. As said by Paine

The churches have no confidence in each other. Why? Because they are acquainted with each other.

I study the Jehovah Witness material I have found it to be the most accurate...yeah I also don't agree with everything they do,but you will have that in all religions and I may not have understood why they do certain things at one point in time, but later it was like Oh yeah..thats why! I have friends from all walks of life all different religions...I like how the Jehovah witnesses follow the bible closely and they are some awesome people! Have fun trying to find another religion..pray hard about it and remember God wants us to come to an accurate knowledge of truth...not just have our ears tickled..90% of religions teach the trinity.

True spirituality will transcend all of the artificial

man-made problems that you are experiencing.

It will be based on a direct relationship between

you and divinity, without any of the problematic

concepts that organized religions have created.

I don't think you can find genuine spirituality in

the Abrahamic religions... they worship a violent

male war-god that traces back to the gods of the

Kurgan invaders. I recommend that you look into

the primordial Mother Goddess, who was the

original deity of mankind before religion became

a "business"... the Goddess offers a completely

different type of spirituality with none of the

problems that you are now having.

You are having a hard time because you are searching in the wrong place. A religion will not answer the need you are feeling.

Only JESUS CHRIST can do that!!

With that in mind:

BECAUSE, By the deeds of the law there shall no person be justified in God’s sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin and all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:20, 23

THEN, They all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:12 Also I say unto you, whosoever shall confess me (Jesus) before men, him shall the Son of man (Jesus) also confess before the angels of God: But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. Luke 12:8-9

HOWEVER, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

FOR, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me. John 14:6

THEREFORE, If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Romans 10:9

THEN, He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white robes; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5

SO, That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:15

Find a good bible teaching church. They are out there. I'm very glad for you that you have moved away from Jehovah's Witness teachings. They are not biblical.

Please don't be discouraged. Look in your phone book, maybe there is a Calvary Chapel near you. They are wonderful bible teaching churches and I think you would be very happy in one, they are alive with the power of God's holy spirit, and the people there love Jesus and the word.

May God lead you to a church that teaches His word in love and truth. In Jesus' name.

Religion itself is not good for the masses because each individual is different. You can't apply a lot of things to yourself because it is made for a completely different person. It takes time but you will find it. You don't have to be mainstream like everyone says.
