Will my family and I go to hell if?

Will my family and I go to hell if we were born and raised in some remote jungle or island with no knowledge of Jesus or the Bible in our lives? Would it not be enough that we looked after our own? and this is assuming God exists, that God is the Christian god, and that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.

First off, the Biblical conversion experience is summed up in Acts 2:38: "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Somewhere along the way, it was "replaced" by the modern innovation known as "the sinner's prayer." Many look to the epistles in an attempt to find the New Testament plan of salvation; however, the epistles were written to first century Christians who were already saved. The place to look for the historical salvation experience is in the book of Acts, for it is there that actual conversion experiences are documented and what actually took place.

The biblical salvation experience recorded in the book of Acts includes receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost accompanied by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou HEAREST THE SOUND THEREOF, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is EVERY ONE that is born of the Spirit" (John 3:8).

To answer your other question, a merciful God would not send someone to hell who has never had an opportunity to seek out the true gospel of God; that being the case, I believe that the all-powerful God who desires for everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth will, at some point in time, come and preach the gospel Himself if no one is around to preach it. There are stories of exactly that taking place in third world countries around the world.

You are not judged based upon how well you live up to your own standards, but by how well you lived up to God's standards.

Jeremiah 17:"I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

Psalm 62:11One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, 12 and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.

Proverbs 11:18The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. 19 The truly righteous man attains life, but he who pursues evil goes to his death.

Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.

Proverbs 24:12 If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

2 Corinthians 5:10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Revelation 22:12 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.

It's not for any of us to judge whether or not a person goes to hell, we can only pass on what the scripture tells us. God sees all and knows all, he especially looks at the heart and judges you by your actions whether you are young or old, have reached the age of reason or not.

I've often wondered this myself. Why would a loving God send innocent people to hell?

ignore those fundies.

God loves all his creatures,

do you really think that I would turn my back on my daughter, if she did not believe in me as her real dad.

God is not spiteful.. he is love.
