The Qur’aan mentioned the expansion of the universe, before man even learnt
to build a telescope! Some may say that the presence of astronomical facts in
the Qur’aan is not surprising since the Arabs were advanced in the field of
astronomy. They are correct in acknowledging the advancement of the Arabs
in the field of astronomy. However they fail to realize that the Qur’aan was
revealed centuries before the Arabs excelled in astronomy. Moreover many of
the scientific facts mentioned above regarding astronomy, such as the origin
of the universe with a Big Bang, were not known to the Arabs even at the
peak of their scientific advancement. The scientific facts mentioned in the
Qur’aan are therefore not due to the Arabs’ advancement in astronomy.
Indeed, the reverse is true. The Arabs advanced in astronomy, because

What is revealed, again and again, is the ability of believers to "read in" what they wish to find in holy texts,

coupled with the ability to smooth out or simply ignore anything significant they do not wish to see or consider.



The "science in the Qur'aan" strand is just a particular example.



Just suppose it turns out that the Big Bang theory and an expanding universe is wrong*...

Will you then accept the Qur'aan was wrong and re-assess it accordingly, or just find some way to see it is "right" in the light of the new information?

If the latter, that completely undermines any support from claims of "matching science" made *after the scientific announcements*. Let the Qur'aan make some scientific *predictions* and then have them proved true. That would be better support.

Okay, I'll believe that said passage refers to the expanding universe. So what? Other religious texts can be interpreted to mean other scientific facts (for example, the Biblical creation story can be interpreted to be similar to the Big Bang Theory of universe creation). When people of my religion (Christians) try to use science to prove the Bible, it always looks simplistic or hollow. It feels just about as useful in your example here. I accept your book as holy as and your path to G*d. The Lord works in mysterious ways, after all.

1. Many scientific finds r true but it doesnt mean "all" claims r true (many dont take time & energy 2 carefully think thru things b4 coming out 4 or against it). 2. Theres no way 2 prove the BB is the cause of the universe. Whether the universe is expanding or not we cant prove the driving force of the propulsion is due 2 force(s) from outside of the universe, the BB or other forces or if acceleration of objects is due 2 the universe collapsing (we cant get outside of it [so it cant b a fact] - why we cant prove the quantum mech claim that particles appear out of nowhere - u'd hv 2 erase the universe & u 2 conduct a "clean" experiment). We also cant get 2 far parts of the universe 2 check red shift calculations.

Neither a label, title, name, its history, no. of members/converts, amount of time it existed nor claims made about them (like persecution) means anything (u can call anything anything). Its whats practiced that makes them either the whole truth or a lie. A dictionary definition doesnt necessarily encompass God's full definition or usage of a word (or His exceptions thereof). Many miss this - Jesus is the only 1 in history who said He's "the" way, "the" truth & "the" life (the only true way of life) & NO 1 can know God except thru Jesus (Jn 14:6 - ref Acts 4:12; Jn 5:39; 10:1,7). This means "the" whole truth was complete & there4 finished thru what Jesus taught & did or God doesn't know what He's doing & cant b God. The truth is either fully true or its a lie. The full truth cant contain a lie & is the absence of any lie.



Either Jesus is the only full truth or theres no actual truth & there4 no God (God would hv 2 know what Jesus was going 2 do). This means Jesus is whom He says He is or He's just another false prophet among many, whom should b disregarded. If He's the actual truth then theres no need 4 any NEW teaching. This means any so-called new teaching & any other religious beliefs &/or from self-proclaimed prophets or teachers r invalid & cant lead u 2 our real God.



***If Jesus came from God as His only Son as stated in the Bible then the Quran (doesnt agree with the Bible), the Book of Mormon (no such thing as "another testament"), JWs (rewrote some Bible verses - New World Translation) & other religions r wrong about Jesus b/c they demote Jesus 2 just a prophet/good man (1 way or another). Jesus couldnt have done nor said all thats written in the NT unless He fully knew the entire OT (NT didnt exist while Jesus was on earth). Jesus couldnt have known the entire OT unless God sent Him. & the Apostles couldnt write the NT unless Jesus allowed them 2 know & remember why He was here (Lk 24:25-27,45). Only God could cause it.



God doesnt compromise the truth - if u do u cancel out ur being a follower of the real truth & in turn that cancels ur place in Heaven.
