Only if one wants to survive with their faith in tact.
Ephesians 5:15-16 shows we need to "buy out the opportune time, for the days are wicked.". We need to prepare ourselves with studying the Bible, because when the near end of this wickjed system comes, the governments will have destroyed ALL false religions. The only ones left will be us and people will wonder why are we still alive? Persecution will be intense as it is now for brothers and sisters in many lands today in prisons, beaten by crowds, hunted by enemies and starved by conditions. During those times, we probably will not have easy access to Bibles nor Bible literature. Some do not have it now nor in the past. Under the old USSR and the new Russia, then preaching work is under ban and so is literature. Having a Bible is a prison sentence.
Under such circumstances, if your faith is not built on a firm foundation of booth knowledge and understanding, you will lose out on everything. Jehovah has warned us to be prepared.
Even Paul urged us "to make sure of the more important things". (Philip. 1:8). Priority through preparation! Before the above words of Ephesians 5:15-16, Paul also wrote the first part of that sentence to, "Keep strict watch that you walk not as unwise oersons , but as wise persons...."
Noah, Moses and Jeremiah were three urged by Jehovah to remain watchful in their day. Matthew 24:36-38, 42 is about our own day now. Jesus tells us only his Father knows when the end of wickedness will begin. We must remain watchful, just as in the days of Noah. The people were doing normal things mentioned BUT they took NO NOTE of the warning Noah was ordered by God to give and it killed them all.
The same is true today when persecution--wherever it is--begins. If we are not prepared, we die.
