If people told me there was an invisible ax murderer living underneath my bed, should I believe it? When people make extraordinary claims, it must be backed up with extraordinary proof.

Gods were inverted to explain things that man did not understand.

"The etymological examination of the chief god-names that is now possible supports this view, pointing to a common theme of life-giving, fecundity. Thus the principal gods of the Greeks and Hebrews, Zeus and Yahweh (Jehovah), have names derived from Sumerian meaning "juice of fecundity", spermatozoa, "seed of life"."

John M. Allegro, "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross", pg. 20

Ancient man believe that rain was God's seed, the thunder God crying out, this fertilized the Mother Earth.

We've figured out a few more things since then.

If you can't show me any verifiable G reasons, I'm not going to waste my time coming up with A or AA reasons.

EDIT- if you can't verify G, I have no reason to believe you. Thus, I have no reason to even bother with A or AA...

That isn't "deleting the question" (I believe the word you were looking for is "dodge" not "delete") that is a simple dismissal of your claim. If you can't back your own claim up what reason do I have to care what personal experience you had? Would you believe me if I told you I was dating Paris Hilton?

The number of valid G reasons is currently 0. This leads me to the logical conclusion (which is the only necessary A reason) that there is no such thing as a deity.

If you have valid credible evidence for this "god" you believe in, please just bring it instead of beating around the bush. If you don't, then you believe in this "god" without any G reasons, which frankly seems rather silly to me.

There are no such "G reasons," as you call them. That's it.

Similarly, I don't believe in leprechuans because there are no "L reasons" (those reasons which proved leprechauns exist). I don't have a reason why the wee folk don't exist; I simply don't see a reason to think of them as real.

There are many deductive arguments that attempt to show the necessary existence of a god(s), but none of them hold up under scrutiny. As such, I cannot consider them to be "G reasons." Ditto for alleged miracles, intercessions, and experiential claims.

If I'm to disbelieve in leprechauns due to a lack of "L reasons," then it holds that I must also disbelieve in gods due to a lack of "G reasons." There's no reason to give gods special consideration.

G reasons: There are none, because there's no proof.

A reasons: There are none, because you can't prove a negative.

You cannot prove a negative, you cannot prove god does not exist, just like you cannot prove unicorns, the tooth fairy, and an invisible teapot orbiting Mars doesn't exist.

Besides, the issue of proof lies with you, since you're the one making the claims. It's not as though you walk up to a friend and say "Hey, I just got this new TV!", he says "Can I see it?" and you say "No, prove I DON'T have a new TV first! Hah."

Well, I never seen any actual G reasons, so there is no reason for me to assume that any of the thousands of gods in human history exist.

And even if they were any G reasons pointing to the existence of the thousands of gods in human history, which logic would you apply to picking one or more of them rather than worshiping them all equally?
2009-12-16 08:34:07 UTC
There are no "G" reasons. There's no evidence of any kind that suggests any god exists.

Therefore there's no reason to believe in one, and no reason to come up with "A" or "AA" reasons.

Peace.

For a discussion of all that you first need to define "god".

For example, if you define god as "creator of everything", you have to conclude that god created himself, which is absurd. This would fall into your "A reason" category.

But as I said, it depends on your god definition.

i do no longer be attentive to what style of Buddhism your loved ones practices ... or maybe inspite of the undeniable fact that they meditate and DO the different practices. rather, if one does now no longer meditate (which isn't prayer), then they are no longer rather a Buddhist. each of has our very own religious temperament, and for one guy or woman one faith ought to artwork greater, whilst for yet yet another guy or woman another faith will artwork greater constructive. Take that direction that makes you a greater constructive, kinder, much less-materialistic person. this is the religious direction, inspite of which faith takes you to it. i'm a dash fearful approximately you attempting forgiveness. Too in many instances human beings get right into a faith once you think approximately that unconsciously they hate themselves, and instead of dealing with their very own deep inner themes, they slap a non secular "band-help" over it. No soul needs forgiveness, and would desire to you think approximately you do, then you definately ought to be at an benefit going to work out a psychologist on the instant until you ensure this project. to envision out to band-help it with Christianity gorgeous-properly guarantees that Christianity won't extra your religious progression. particular, it ought to good be a phase. you may desire to attend 3-5 years to work out in case you're inspite of the undeniable fact that interested in any faith. in basic terms like love infatuation, we are waiting to wind up infatuated with a faith and information a concepts chemistry "severe". yet no infatuation lasts longer than 3 years. inform you moms and fathers you desire to to objective Christianity. As human beings who flow to church in the event that they are in a position to grant you a visit. you're below no circumstances interior the wonderful way once you finally end up searching for religious progression. All religions are joyful to volume a hand to beginners. inspite of the shown fact that, please do no longer have faith that God punishes or hates. Please do no longer think of which you're risky because of the actuality you're a sinner, or which you in effortless terms want forgiveness. God needs your excitement and love, now no longer your shame and self-hatred. artwork confusing, that isn't any longer suitable what faith, to work out all others with love on your coronary heart. which you would be waiting to develop this chiefly be taking loving strikes, kindness, tolerance ... on your loved ones, your pals, and all strangers. All religions ask us to love others, and to now no longer be related to fabrics issues. severe-high quality to you on your religious holiday.
