I have few questions about Wicca, just something I want to know about this religion. So can you help me?
1st Do Wiccans have some special books, spells or rituals?
2. What's the Book of Shadows and how to find one?
3. How to become a Wiccan?
4. And do they wear special amulets or something?
Can you, please, tell me something more about this religion?

AND PLEASE PEOPLE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN WICCA DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. THANK YOU!!

We don't have a book like the bible, if that's what you mean, but we do often use books (typically written by other practitioners) especially early on. One author favored by almost every pagan I know is Scott Cunningham. He puts a great deal of time and research into his books. There are other authors that some people like and some don't.

A book of shadows (also can be called a grimoire) is your personal book of spells. You can go to anyplace that sells stationary or notebooks and pick up a blank one and just write your own in it (for future reference, or to pass on to your children, etc.).

A great deal of research is typically involved in becoming Wiccan. If you can find any local practitioners in your area it may help because you'll have someone to study with and learn from, but it's not impossible or unheard of for you to learn on your own. There are books out there for solitary practitioners.

You can wear special amulets, but it's not required. I practice geomancy, so I often wear specific stones for different purposes (for casting certain spells or just in everyday life). I've known others who make tinctures and brews and will wear a vial with a specific potion in it for different spells, etc. It's up to the individual, and you don't need to have any special charms to practice.

For the "something more": Wicca is an earth-based pagan religion. We believe that there is a spirit (the Goddess) which animates all that lives. Everything from you and me to animals to a blade of grass to a stone; we are all connected. Wicca is a polytheistic religion. We don't worship the dark god of the Christian pantheon (Satan), mainly because most of us don't even believe in him. We follow the Wiccan Rede which tells us "Do as thou wilt, but harm ye none." We believe in doing good and helping others.

I hope this helped :) Bright blessings!

1. No special book, spell or rituals. Often rituals that are made up by the practitioner on the spot are considered better and more likely to work than rituals that have been passed down for generation (and more meaningful, if they're worship rituals). As for the book, Wicca is not a 'revealed' religion. There is no divine truth that is right-er than the others. Some people believe that the God and Goddess are personifications of a higher power, some people believe that they are the higher power and some people believe that we made them up as a sort of representation of morals and such. Believe what feels right for you.

2. Practitioners make their own books of shadows, at first by researching and copying the rituals of others, then writing down their own rituals. In your book of shadows you can also include lists for things like herbs and what they are used for, runes and meanings etc.

3. You become Wiccan by believing. It's not like Christianity; you don't have to be baptised and confirmed to join. Belief is all that matters.

4. No - some people bless amulets and such and wear them for good luck, and others wear Wiccan jewellery much like a christian would wear a cross but there is no requirements.

As for 5... I assume you know about the dual goddess, the wiccan rede etc.? If not, this website (http://wiccan-rede.com/), while a little Fluffy-bunny, has a some useful information, and wikipedia is pretty accurate on this topic. Hope I helped :)

1) Not really. There are lots of books pertaining specifically to Wicca as well as many concerning gems, herbs, meditation, witchcraft (etc...) that may or may not be useful to you depending on your interest in these complimentary practises. For a good reading list, check out http://wicca.timerift.net. We also don't have specific spells.

Wicca is not about spells. If you're only in it for spells, then start looking at witchcraft instead.

Rituals depend on whether you are an eclectic solitary or following an oath-bound tradition. There are general, loose structures than can be altered depending on your preferences but, yes, there are some conventions we all follow.

2) A Book of Shadows is a personal journal of your experiences and studies regarding Wicca. This can be anything from notes to rituals to spells (if you're also a witch). You create it yourself.

3) Dedication or initiation. If you are joining a coven they will probably teach you their traditions and beliefs for a year and a day and then have a formal initiation ceremony. If you are practising solo, you can simply meditate and let the gods know about your intentions or you can make up an elaborate ritual for yourself.

4) Nothing is required. Some choose to wear symbols of their beliefs like the pentagram or a goddess figure but nothing is necessary.

If you want to know more read everything at http://wicca.timerift.net and then get some of the beginner books listed at the same site.

A few answers:

1st. There is no 'special book'. Wicca is not a 'revealed' religion. There is no divine book that has 'come from god' to say what to do. There are a lot of reference books, how to books, and myth books that the system uses.

2. The book of Shadows is a personal journal. You have to write your own. If you find a wiccan you can ask to see theirs but they probably won't show you. You write everything you learn in your book of shadows.

3. To become a wiccan? Hmmm. There is a lot of self initiating going on these days. Do some reading and practice what you read.

4. Amulets? You can wear one. There is no requirement.

Look at this website as a start point.

Take a look at http://www.llewellyn.com/

They are a publsisher and put out a lot of books that can help you on your way.

1. Wicca is not about spells. It's a religion. Labeling spells as "Wiccan" is largely marketing. Yes, we have rituals. Some groups have very formal rituals, others are more organic in nature. We have no holy books, nor do we recognize any prophets. True spiritual knowledge in Wicca comes from experience, not what someone is going to just tell you.

2. In a traditional coven, it's a collection of the defining beliefs and rituals of the coven. Members also have their own personal BoS, which will contain said beliefs as rituals, but then also often contains personal additions. For people studying on their own, the BoS might contain rituals, thoughts, records of experiences or anything else they find helpful as they walk their path.

3. For traditionals, it involves being accepted, trained and initiated by a coven. For eclectics, it (hopefully) involves a lot of personal study and practice, often followed by a dedication ritual, although it's certainly not a requirement. More info:

4. We're certainly not required to.

1) No, there are no one specified book that Wiccans follow (like a bible)

2) A book of shadows is an individually created book that contains important information regarding one's individual, unique path. Practitioners generally use blank books, either spiral bound notebooks to elaborately created masterpieces found online. There are no completed books.

3) One becomes Wiccan through study

4) A **common** symbol seen on many Wiccans would be a Pentacle (star encased in a circle), or a triquitra (trillium-like symbol).

This site can tell you much more about the religion

NOTE: Wicca does not equal Witchcraft.

WICCA

1. A Gathering of Pale-Skinned Obese People in Baggy Clothes with Multiple Tattoos and/or Facial Piercings: In addition, a solitary or lonely looking overweight individual who meets the above description should also raise immediate concern!

2. Renaissance Festivals: These fairs or "festivals" are slyly marketed to mainstream sinners, but our Occult experts have found that they are nothing more than Wiccan recruitment centers.

3. Overweight People Climbing Trees: Wiccans practice tree climbing in our region due to the fact that we hold nightly hunting parties where the only way a Wiccan can escape the Lord's wrath is by climbing a tree (which we usually light on fire anyway).

4. Skateboarding with Baggy Pants and Loose Sneakers: Skateboarding is a gateway sin which cunning Wiccan Den Mothers of the Night use to introduce their children to the Occult.

5. Motorcycle Gangs: It is common knowledge that gangs like, "The Hell's Angels," have been getting paid top dollar since the early 1970's to kidnap attractive young ladies who are sold as sex-slaves to Wiccan High Priests.

6. Liberal Political Propaganda Stickers on Automobiles: Liberals like to claim "tolerance," so that even Wiccans are welcomed by the succor of their twisted politics. The truth is, Jesus is not tolerant. And True Christians™ shouldn't be either! Jesus is going to burn people in Hell if they don't believe in Him. If He was tolerant, He'd let everyone into Heaven, which of course - is NOT the case!

7. A Person or Persons Owning an Unusual Number of Felines: Witches never change. They love cats. But did you know that modern Wiccans cook cats with garlic and drink them in a stew? They also sacrifice cats and other animals with padded feet to their Dark Master, Satan. Be on the lookout for folks with too many cats!

8. Role Playing Video Games Like World of Warcraft: Our Christian children have been sharing Jesus with sinners in the World of Warcraft for the last few years! The shocking statistics are that over 75% of people who play role playing video games are Wiccans! Help Jesus save a soul before they get in the game!

9. Overzealousness in Regard to Halloween: The Devil's Birthday is October 31st, and Wiccans prepare for the celebration throughout the entire month of October. They live to server their master, Lucifer, but will lie through their teeth about it, saying they don't even believe in Satan and that he has nothing to do with Wicca. Don't believe a word of this nonsense! As our Creation Scientists are fond of saying, "One doesn't have to believe that human blood is red, to see that it is so!

10. Defecating or Urinating in Public - Especially Near a House of Christian Worship: Wiccans are sneaky, but we've caught up with them! We know how they mark their territory during the month of October. Two years ago in Alabama, a coven of enormously overweight Wiccans managed to poop out a giant pentagram over two square miles in just three days! The church they marked in the center of the Devil's star was smacked down by Satan and went up in flames on Halloween night!

Don't let this happen in your community! Report these people to the authorities!
