Question:
How's it possible for Jehovah God to have been wrong so many times while guiding his governing body to publish so many incorrect teachings?
2016-05-26 06:48:45 UTC
If you've ever read any of our literature or attended one of our meetings you will immediately take note that Jehovah God is thanked incessantly for EVERYTHING taught, published, and studied.

So if everything is COMING from Jehovah God, how can he be wrong SO MANY TIMES?

That's a good question, because this Governing Body began making claims from over 100 years ago about publishing what Jehovah God taught them. This means there is over 100 year's of written records for examination, to see just how many teachings they once held that they now deny, or have changed. Compare that with the written records about various Christian groups for nearly 2,000 years - we would expect the groups without any Governing Body appointed by Jehovah to have a massively greater list of changed teachings than the one that has only been in existence for 100 years.

What do we find? Surprise surprise - the recent group has changes to its doctrines every decade or less! Not so with the ancient groups. They may have allowed wrong things to creep in, like trees at Christmas and eggs at Easter, but none of those things were ever enshrined as doctrine! The doctrines have been virtually set in stone for nearly 2,000 years. But the 100 year old group claiming to have Jehovah's appointed Governing Body has introduced novel ideas that Christians never had (like only 144,000 going to heaven, or having to die rather than take a blood transfusion).

Ironically, they have even been wrong on their Governing Body doctrine! They used to claim it was appointed by God over all Christ's belongings on Earth from 1919, but now they say that's wrong - the appointment is still future. Yet they insist that they WILL get that appointment so all JWs need to follow their decrees without question, until then. They used to insist that there were Governing Body representatives throughout all history from the 1st century till today. No longer! They used to teach that all of the 144,000 class were part of this group, but now they say only a handful of men in America are.

My answer is that it is NOT possible for Jehovah God to be wrong, ever, with Church teaching which is already in the Bible, so any group of men claiming exclusive insights (which are later changed or dumped) are lying.

Here we have another piece of evidence that JWs have perfected the art of living with opposing thoughts with relative ease... it's called cognitive dissonance.

You see, the governing body in just recent times (sometime prior to 2013 but can't be specific because they were sneaky), changed the definition of "the faithful and discreet slave". Charles Russell, originally claimed "the faithful and discreet slave" were ALL JWs but that became a problem when JW numbers reached 144,000. That's when JWorg changed "the faithful and discreet slave" to refer only to the anointed within JWs. However, this too became a problem as the governing body didn't want, require, desire or accept spiritual teaching or input from the anointed but couldn't really ignore them if they were "the faithful and discreet slave"... and so they changed the reference again. This time, only the governing body members are part of the "the faithful and discreet slave".

This is, of course, very amusing to all non-JWs but is also highly important and serious. If the governing body really is "the faithful and discreet slave" then how have successive governing body members made the mistake for over 100 years? Surely "the faithful and discreet slave" isn't consistently making the same mistake for so long! Either the governing body isn't "the faithful and discreet slave" or God isn't directing "the faithful and discreet slave".....

The good news for all JWs is that with the advanced delusional techniques, taught by JWorg, anyone can enter cognitive dissonance and live with this problem blissfully happy provided there are strong guards against reality or truth leaking in.

A common excuse used by JWs is to claim that God reveals the truth progressively when his people are ready for it. That is utter nonsense!

First of all, the truth is already revealed in the bible. It is often the case that JW teachings which undergo later change, were in contradiction with what the bible plainly says, so it is often the case that God had long revealed the truth in the bible - and other churches were accepting it - while the JWs were stubbornly refusing to accept it, until only later when their position becomes untenable.

A perfect example of this scenario is their past false teaching about the identity of the "superior authorities" mentioned in Romans 13. For more than 3 decades they rejected the bible's very clear indication that the "superior authorities" refer to secular govts. Meanwhile, most other churches of christendom correctly understood who the "superior authorities" were. So it was not a case of God revealing the truth gradually. It was a case of them blatantly rejecting bible truth clearly revealed in scripture, for over 30 years!

A similar situation currently exists regarding their teaching of the identity of the "other sheep" mentioned at John 10:16. The NT context makes it clear that Jesus was referring to future gentile converts to christianity. Most churches in christendom understand this. But JWs are currently foolishly rejecting this scriptural view to follow the foolish, twisted, eisegetical teaching of Watchtower, that says the "other sheep" refers, not to gentile christians, but to all christians with an earthly hope.

Secondly, the JW claim that God reveals or clarifies the truth for them when they're ready for it or need it, conveys the idea that the JWs are not always ready or able to handle certain scriptural truths, so God has to withhold it from them until later. But when you examine the nature of their changes in doctrine, you would realize that there is nothing about the changes that would have made it impossible or unbearable if the JWs were told the complete, accurate truth up front from the beginning. It is just a silly excuse to justify why they've not been taught the accurate truth from the beginning and keep changing.

God is never wrong. Those foolish men who claim to speak for Him are. Perhaps that is blasphemy, thanking God for lies you publish and feed to the masses. It's shameful, anyway. Those men aren't ignorant, they know they're lying and do it on purpose. I don't really have a doubt about that. If they were ignorant, they wouldn't have the sense to rewrite the Bible to fit what they wanted to teach. They wouldn't use the tactics they use to keep these people controlled and conforming. No, they aren't ignorant at all and they know exactly what they're doing.

I've many times heard people thank God, but it wasn't the God of the Bible they were referring to. It was their god Satan. Perhaps that is the case here as well, considering.

You may not realise it: Jehovah is NEVER wrong (Deut. 32:4). He dignifies his earthly servants, all of whom have human limitations (!), with regular updates on revealed truth (Prov. 4:18).

How refreshing this is, instead of being stuck in a stuffy man-made religion without the only true God (John 17:3), Jehovah (Ps. 83:18), or being mislead by a nameless, man-made 'trinity', concocted over centuries of strife among 'Christians'.

Kind greetings, Gunter

That seems like a funny statement coming from a Christian. The apostles thought Jesus was taking up his ruler ship at that time. So they gathered and waiting for him to come riding in on a white horse and kicking out the Romans. This was years later after he gave them the signs of the time of the end. Daniel 2:44 said the Messiah was coming in his day and was going to set up his kingdom over the earth at that time. Again Isaiah prophesied that God's kingdom was coming in his day.

Even in the garden of Eden, it was prophesied that Satan would bruise him in the heel and he would bruise him in the head. Eve thought her other son was that Messiah. The list is endless of prophecy concerning the end times. But their ideas were adjusted and a clearer understanding was given them. But your comparing these people to other religions? Excuse me but what does the Easter bunny and colored eggs have to do with the resurrection of the Christ? Or the Astrologers and the Christmas tree and lights on it. The one on the top was to represent the sun.

They were sun worshippers? Why don't you ever publish something about Baptist? or Methodists? Or even Catholics with the teaching of pregatory? Also men went to hell for eating meat on Friday? Now that the church has changed do they get out of hell? Excuse me but that was so ridiculous I had to answer it.

The world suffers a spiritual famine. The Bible warns Look there are days coming declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah when I will send a famine into the land not a famine for bread or a thirst for water but for hearing the words of Jehovah. Amos 8:11 Jehovah foretold this contrast betwwen his people and his enemies My servants will eat but you will go hungry. Look my servants will drink but you will go thirsty. Look my servants will rejoice but you will suffer shame. Isa 65:13

Psalm 23 Jehovah is my shepherd I.will lack nothing. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down. He leads me to well watered resting pastures. He refreshes me. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for the SAKE OF HIS NAME

Those who disparage any of Jehovahs appointed servant remember Gamaliel:

If this scheme or work is from men it will be overthrown but if it is from God you will not be able to overthrow them. ...you may perhaps be found fighters actually against God. Acts 5:34-39

Yes, Jehovah God was wrong so many times - like when he drowned all his creation and then admitted he was wrong for doing so, but he put a rainbow in the sky to remind himself not to be an evil douche again!

You ask about your literature, but you don't say who publishes it nor what meetings to go to. Neither do you list any "false teachings." Satan has said things that do not come from Jehovah. Obviously, not everything said comes from Him. But as you asked it, without anything specific, your question is unanswerable as to anything meaningful to anything specific.

Jehovah God is NEVER wrong, it is imperfect man who makes mistakes, there are many examples in the bible of those who were appointed or selected by god who were acceptable to him and did bad things, King David, Jonah, Saul, Paul, Peter and many others, when they repented they were forgiven. They changed their ways or thinking, conduct.

At least the GB is willing to admit the wrong and correct it.

Are you willing to admit your wrong.........

I honestly do not believe you are a witness for one moment. Your question is way too controversial and we should not go around calling others stupid, which automatically induces bad feelings!

Lol incorrect teachings? How about misunderstandings with minor issues and the fact that EVERYONE is welcome to read our year book, that lists those revised understandings!

The sun’s light gets brighter from dawn until “the day is firmly established.” Similarly, spiritual light gets brighter for Jehovah’s people as time goes on. As we draw much closer to events, our understanding of the outworking of Jehovah’s purposes becomes clearer. Divine prophecies open up to us as God’s holy spirit sheds light upon them, and as they are fulfilled in world events or in the experiences of Jehovah’s people. Thus their ‘path gets lighter and lighter.’

NOTE SOME POWERFUL reasons for ignoring the false accusations that have been stated on this page. This such as MISLEADING the world on dangers of Blood Transfusions that no religion as an organization has taken but Jehovah's Witnesses. This as stated in principle & law @ Acts 15:28,29.

The mockery & ridicule has even been directed on Jehovah God & Christ Jesus:

(2 Peter 3:2-4) “. . .. 3 First of all know this, that in the last days ridiculers will come with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as they were from creation’s beginning.””

Note the lies that are referenced with the mockers as above & where they come from

(Revelation 12:8-10) “. . .. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is MISLEADING (my caps ) the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him”

IF YOU don't think that Jehovah God & Christ Jesus --are using us, then what organization are they using> -- There has to be "the one & only" Which is it?

NOTE the powerful direction for truth in Revelation:

(Revelation 1:1, 2) “1 A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent his angel and presented it in signs through him to his slave John, 2 who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, yes, to all the things he saw. . .”

DID you not -know the channel from Jehovah God , Christ Jesus & the angel & finally to John who channeled to the earthly organization-- that we greatly benefit

Please note concerning the situation with our resolute stand on the blood issue with the Dept. of Defense ( military ) & the commendation they expressed:

http://clinicalposters.com/news/2010/20100322_bloodless-surgery.html

Could it be that Jehovah God & Christ Jesus were helping us endure the persecution over the Blood Issue from 1943 to recent times?

Please note how the military have awarded the Englewood New Jersey Hospital 4.6 million dollars for knowledge & training in Non-Blood surgery & management :

"How's it possible for Jehovah God to have been wrong so many times while guiding his governing body to publish so many incorrect teachings?"

What are "so many incorrect teachings"?

We teach that Jehovah is God.

We worship the one true and Almighty God, the Creator, whose name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18; Revelation 4:11) He is the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.—Exodus 3:6; 32:11; John 20:17.

We teach that Jesus is his son.

We follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and honor him as our Savior and as the Son of God. (Matthew 20:28; Acts 5:31) Thus, we are Christians. (Acts 11:26) However, we have learned from the Bible that Jesus is not Almighty God and that there is no Scriptural basis for the Trinity doctrine.—John 14:28.

We teach that the Bible is the word of God

We recognize the Bible as God’s inspired message to humans. (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16) We base our beliefs on all 66 of its books, which include both the “Old Testament” and the “New Testament.” Professor Jason D. BeDuhn aptly described it when he wrote that Jehovah’s Witnesses built “their system of belief and practice from the raw material of the Bible without predetermining what was to be found there.” *

While we accept the entire Bible, we are not fundamentalists. We recognize that parts of the Bible are written in figurative or symbolic language and are not to be understood literally.—Revelation 1:1.

We teach that the kingdom of God is a real government

This is a real government in heaven, not a condition in the hearts of Christians. It will replace human governments and accomplish God’s purpose for the earth. (Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:9, 10) It will take these actions soon, for Bible prophecy indicates that we are living in “the last days.”—2 Timothy 3:1-5; Matthew 24:3-14.

Jesus is the King of God’s Kingdom in heaven. He began ruling in 1914.—Revelation 11:15.

We teach that salvation is through Jesus

Deliverance from sin and death is possible through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus. (Matthew 20:28; Acts 4:12) To benefit from that sacrifice, people must not only exercise faith in Jesus but also change their course of life and get baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20; John 3:16; Acts 3:19, 20) A person’s works prove that his faith is alive. (James 2:24, 26) However, salvation cannot be earned—it comes through “the undeserved kindness of God.”—Galatians 2:16, 21.

We teach that heaven is a real place

Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and the faithful angels reside in the spirit realm. * (Psalm 103:19-21; Acts 7:55) A relatively small number of people—144,000—will be resurrected to life in heaven to rule with Jesus in the Kingdom.—Daniel 7:27; 2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 5:9, 10; 14:1, 3.

We teach that the earth will be here forever

God created the earth to be mankind’s eternal home. (Psalm 104:5; 115:16; Ecclesiastes 1:4) God will bless obedient people with perfect health and everlasting life in an earthly paradise.—Psalm 37:11, 34.

We teach that evil and suffering will be overthrown

These began when one of God’s angels rebelled. (John 8:44) This angel, who after his rebellion was called “Satan” and “Devil,” persuaded the first human couple to join him, and the consequences have been disastrous for their descendants. (Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 5:12) In order to settle the moral issues raised by Satan, God has allowed evil and suffering, but He will not permit them to continue forever.

We teach that the dead are not conscious of anything

People who die pass out of existence. (Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) They do not suffer in a fiery hell of torment.

God will bring billions back from death by means of a resurrection. (Acts 24:15) However, those who refuse to learn God’s ways after being raised to life will be destroyed forever with no hope of a resurrection.—Revelation 20:14, 15.

We believe marriage is between a man and a woman

We adhere to God’s original standard of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, with sexual immorality being the only valid basis for divorce. (Matthew 19:4-9) We are convinced that the wisdom found in the Bible helps families to succeed.—Ephesians 5:22–6:1.

We believe that our worship of God must be free of any outside religious influences

We do not venerate the cross or any other images. (Deuteronomy 4:15-19; 1 John 5:21) Key aspects of our worship include the following:

Praying to God.—Philippians 4:6.

Reading and studying the Bible.—Psalm 1:1-3.

Meditating on what we learn from the Bible.—Psalm 77:12.

Meeting together to pray, study the Bible, sing, express our faith, and encourage fellow Witnesses and others.—Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 10:23-25.

Preaching the “good news of the Kingdom.”—Matthew 24:14.

Helping those in need.—James 2:14-17.

Constructing and maintaining Kingdom Halls and other facilities used to further our worldwide Bible educational work.—Psalm 127:1.

Sharing in disaster relief.—Acts 11:27-30.

We believe that all Christians should believe the same about the Bible

We are globally united in our beliefs. (1 Corinthians 1:10) We also work hard to have no social, ethnic, racial, or class divisions. (Acts 10:34, 35; James 2:4) Our unity allows for personal choice, though. Each Witness makes decisions in harmony with his or her own Bible-trained conscience.—Romans 14:1-4; Hebrews 5:14.

We teach that our conduct should be Christian in all ways

We strive to show unselfish love in all our actions. (John 13:34, 35) We avoid practices that displease God, including the misuse of blood by taking blood transfusions. (Acts 15:28, 29; Galatians 5:19-21) We are peaceful and do not participate in warfare. (Matthew 5:9; Isaiah 2:4) We respect the government where we live and obey its laws as long as these do not call on us to disobey God’s laws.—Matthew 22:21; Acts 5:29.

We teach that we must love our neighbor

Jesus commanded: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” He also said that Christians “are no part of the world.” (Matthew 22:39; John 17:16) So we try to “work what is good toward all,” yet we remain strictly neutral in political affairs and avoid affiliation with other religions. (Galatians 6:10; 2 Corinthians 6:14) However, we respect the choices that others make in such matters.—Romans 14:12.
