Young Earth Creationists are fewer and fewer every day, and Young Earth Creationism is certainly not the equivalent of historic, orthodox Christianity. This Christian has absolutely no problem accepting the modern scientific estimates of the age and size of the universe. God is an awesome God.

You have some intresting points, but God is outside of time, he could of created it any time. With that in mind, he might of just created earth 6,000 years ago. I believe the Earth is thousands of years old, and shows how far we are off decent ways of space exploration. I'm a Christian but that is some intresting facts.

heres what creationsists really think: the earth and universe is billions of years old if not older, but life on earth was created 6 thousand years ago. th earth was a barron planet shifting climates for a loooong time b4 it was ready for life.

Most Creationists will just say that they think the Earth is 6,000 years old, not the universe. But seriously, why are you using logic with Young Earth Creationists anyway? They are absolutely uninterested in the scientific method. Why?Because they see the world in a binary manner. Either God is right or science is right- it can't be both. Fallacy of False Dichotomies.

yes young earth christain have problems with these anomolies ( that are more commonplace then they would like to admit) another one is where do the dinosaurs fit into the bible if the youngest ones went extinct 50 million years ago?

However, christains such as my self that consider them selves intelligent can see that not all of science contradicts our religion (that is really more of a relationship). I accept the big bang theory, micro evolution, and many of the other scietific theories and still remain a christain because they don't conflict with what GOd has said in the bible

...a day in God's eyes, may be a thousand in ours...

Young Earth Creationists love to claim that God projected light from Andromeda to make the Universe look old. I do not believe that God is so vain as to need to make the Universe seem old, because He has the power to sustain the Universe for however many billions of years suits Him. If the Universe were only 6,000 years old, we would see stars 6,000 light years away being created. Paul M To be logically consistent, they would have to reject such distances. In fact, all we really know about distant galaxies is how fast they are moving away from us because of the doppler shift. We calculate the distance by assuming that they must have been moving away from us for 10-15 billion years. If new evidence suggested that the Universe were much younger than that, we would adjust the calculated distances accordingly. It has every thing to do with the age of what ever is being observed.

I'm confused a little because the Creationists who believe what you're talking about with this whole Earth being 6,000 years old are so few and far between it's not even funny. They aren't on the radar. The chances of you actually have one read this is so very small. What's the point of this rant?

Beyond the 6000 light-year limit, the universe is just interactive wallpaper.

The Earth is much older than 6K years.

I am a Creationist, but I am an old world Creationist.

Yes, Andromeda is 2.5 million light years distant. This would indicate that the universe HAS to be at least 2.5 million years old. Otherwise, we could not see Andromeda in ordinary light.

I have a theory that may explain things. But you're not going to be receptive unless you can remain open minded.

God created Adam and Eve as grown, mature adults. Is it not possible that the cosmos, too, was created as a mature one? Ergo, this would give distant objects the appearance of being much more ancient than they actually are. Yes, I know that this idea is not scientific at all. I can furnish no proof. It is only speculative.

But at all events, I still contend that the world is much, much older than 6000 years. The Chinese have been civilized for 5000 years, correct?

Don't assume Creationists think logically.

They will just say the light was created "in transit" to give us something nicer to look at. Apparently they think Earth the centre of the universe.
