Question:
Are humans insignificant to nature?

In my opinion humans are ugly creatures compared to the beauty of nature and arrogantly believe they can control the ecosystem, perversely altering it to suit their needs; however, what they don't know is that nature fights back. I was raised in an Asian household with beliefs based on Buddhism, Shintoism, and, to a lesser extent, Christianity, and we tend to have that opinion, once in a while.

So, what do you all think?

I think human's ways and doings have made them "ugly" in a sense, in comparison to nature. They have destroyed the beauty of nature for their own gain and wonder why the earth is being destroyed and the ozone layer. Earthquakes and sinkholes are happening because they are sucking all of the oil and minerals out of the earth that holds it together, for their own greed. They shove water out of it's natural place and build large dams just to build themselves houses in it's place...and then when the water claims it's rightful place and breaks through it's prison and kills the thousands who lived in the dam's rightful place where God put it...everyone is shocked and wonder what happened. If we would have lived the way God intended from the beginning the world would not be in as bad of shape as it is now.

I don't think so. I think we are very significant to the point of intrusive to pretty much all environments.

edit: Oh yeah. We even went to Mars, and in order to find life we were willing to put it into an oven and burn it to death in order to find organic fumes of it's former life.

In that way humans are ugly, but not always physically ugly. I can appreciate the stripes of a tiger as well as the beauty of another person. It's just that we humans tend to be psycho. Look at history, all that violence, greed, selfishness, hate, war, torture and we are STILL doing it. We aren't advanced, we are more efficient at hurting things and each other.

Only mind and matter in Buddhism. Forms are illusion, like mirage we can see, not permanent. How fast wavelets are on the surface of ocean? Everything known as life is just rise and fall.

Human is neither significant nor insignificant. There is outer world and there is inner world. Inner world of mind extends outward that I can read your q and you can read my a. The body is the five aggregates - matter, feeling, perception, thought and consciousness. The existence is just five of them. Identifying form is misperception or illusion. There is no beings, no human, no animal ... but the five aggregates.

A Buddhist must come to understand these five aggregates and let go of craving for forms, feeling, consciousness, perception and thought.

MAN'S DOMINION

God appraises man as the highest of creation.

Man is Worth:

1. Making him lord of creation. (Genesis 1:26-31; Psalms 83:8)

2. All of millenniums of effort to redeem him (Hebrews 1:1-3; 2Peter 3:9)

3. More than the whole world (Mark 8:36)

4. Giving of God's only begotten Son to redeem him (John 3:16)

5. Restoration to his original dominion as eternal ruler of creation (Daniel 7:18,27; Revelation 5:10; 22:4-5)

6. Being entrusted with eternal authority and life to help God administer the affairs of the universe (Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 2:27-28; 5:10; 22:4-5)

7. Being placed on an equal basis with Jesus Christ in redemption, as to: righteousness ( 1 John 3:7), Provision by promise (1 Corinthians 3:22; 2 Corinthians 1:20; Hebrews 8:6) nature ( 2 Peter 1:4) works (John 14:12), being joint heirs in inheritance (Romans 8:17), sufferings and future glory (Matthew 10:25; Romans 8:18; 2 Timothy 2:12; 1 Peter 2:21; 4:1; Revelation 2:26-27; 5:10; 22:4-5)

8. Making provision for body, soul, and spirit here and hereafter.

Satan's followers of angels and demons are determined to cause people to turn from believing in God and causing confusion in man's beliefs. It is a delaying action, so we will not know who we really are!

One day the Nature will swallow the entire human

since modern human is against Nature.

I'd agree with most of your proposals except 'insignificant', for that I would substitute 'dangerous'.

humans are just a transient infinitesimal part of nature without any special significance

'Nature' wouldn't care one iota if man were to disappear...
