Question:
Was Jesus Christ the son of man or the son of god?

All the time in the Bible he says that he is the son of man. In Aramaic, man means an ordinary father/man. He nowhere says that he himself is the son of God. If we say that he only had a mother and a father then why is he the son of God then Adam had no father and mother so is he greater than Jesus? If we say son of God in a particular context then that is ok. We are all sons and daughters of God. But why do christians claim that he was a begotten son. He never said in the Bible that he himself is God or the son of God and asked to worship him.

He was both. While it is true that Jesus generally called himself "the son of man", he also called himself "son of God" in the book of John(John 3:18, 5:25, 10:36, and 11:4). It was generally his followers that called him "son of God", but Jesus never told them not to.

Jesus did this to stress that he was completely human and completely divine. In fact, if Jesus would not have had a divine nature, it would have been quite silly for him to go around calling himself the "son of man" since it would be immediately obvious to everyone that he was human. The only logical explanation is that he wanted to stress his humanity to his followers.

he never said it because he didnt want to start a riot. just by the little he would do showing he was the son of God a lot of commotions will happen, imagine if he said he was the son of God all the time. that will probably be the worse. Adam is not greater becuase he was not sent down to save us from our sins.

John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son that whoever believed in him will have everlasting life.

Begotten, he was delivered form heaven for our help to save us. we did not come to this world to save humanity. we were asked to help, but thats the difference.

Jesus as the son of God was there with all the other host'of the heavens when

God said,"Let us make man in our image and in our likeness," Jesus was the

first of the heavenly host that was created by God, Matt.1:1-17; he would be

son #64 from Adam, as the son of man, the Lord and Savior of the world.

Luke 22:70 They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied, "You are right in saying I am."

Matthew 16:16-17 Simon Peter answered, " You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."

This is the key to everything......... Peter realized the truth.

The term "Hypostatic Union" is what is being referred to here, Jesus being fully man and fully God. Now I can't say for sure why he didn't actually refer to himself in the manner, but i do know that the pharisees asked him if he was the Son of God in one of their attempt to trap Jesus into saying something they could accuse as blasphemy and have him killed. There is a pretty good article on Christiananswers.com that may help with understanding this.

Jesus = son of man + son of God on "high" = harmful

Christ = the son of God is one = "higher" = "harmless"

Cloudy two Sons Jesus is not Sunny one Son Christ;

So peace with God is "THROUGH" Jesus-->Christ,

for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.

Jesus = salvation + destruction ... grace + law

Christ = eternal salvation (only) ... grace only

Jesus = made under the law = division, not peace.

Christ = the end of the f-law = peace, not divided

Jesus = sat "down" (in a grave yard in Mt 24)

Christ = sitteth "above" (higher than the heavens)

which (law/grace) things are "allegory" and "mystery"

He propheside things that already came true (Matthew 24), such as the fall of Jerusalem, so he was therefore a son of man (typically what a prophet was called).

He accepted worship, and said he would raise himself up from the dead. He must therefore be the Son of God.

Jesus was both the Son of Man and the Son of God. I’ll explain why. As you mentioned, Jesus referred to himself as ‘the son of man’ in the bible. This phrase applied to him because he was a product of humankind since he had a human mother. It’s true that Adam had neither a human mother or father because he was the 1st man to ever live on earth, but he is not greater than Jesus. Jesus was God’s 1st creation ever, according to Colossians 1:15. As such, Jesus is the only being that God created by himself. Rightfully, then, he is called “the Son of God”. Adam was just God’s 1st human creation, and as Colossians 1:16 brings out, everything else that was created, including Adam, was created through Jesus. This fact alone makes Jesus greater than Adam. Also, as a human, Jesus was a better man that Adam because Jesus remained faithful under tests of faith whereas Adam did not. (Matt. 4:1-10; Gen. 2:17; 3:6) Jesus is referred to as God’s only-begotten Son in 1 John 4:9. It says: “God sent forth his only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him.” The phrase “only-begotten Son” means “single of its kind, only,” “the only member of a kin or kind,” or “unique.” One reason that Jesus fits all those descriptions is because, as I stated earlier, he is the only being who was created by God himself. So saying that Jesus is God’s only-begotten Son is not a Christian claim; rather it’s a fact. You’re right, Jesus never told us he was God or that we should worship him. Instead, he told us all to only worship his father, Jehovah in Matthew 4:10. But Jesus did let us know his true identity on many occasions. For instance, in Matthew 16:13-17, Jesus asked his disciples who the people of the area thought he was. Then he asked his disciples who they thought he was. Peter answered on behalf of them by saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” After Peter said this, Jesus told him his answer was correct. Since Jesus did that, he confirmed right there that he is indeed the son of God. Jesus should know who he is, right? Moreover, 2 Peter 1:17 tells us that God referred to Jesus as His Son when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River. I’m sure you remember what God said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.” What better proof to have than from Almighty God himself?

I hope this helps you.

Jesus was neither God's son nor Man's.

If you all are God's sons and daughters then why is Jesus more special ?

None is God's child and God is pure.

Who was Adam's father ?

Jesus is just like Adam.

I often become wondered and laugh at you that you now pray to a prophet instead of the creator of you and your prophet !!

Christians ! you've lost the way to God.

Both. But yes He did says that He is the Son of God plainly in (John 10:36), and was also instructed by His Father[which by the way is God] that we are suppose to honor Him, even as we honor His Father. (John 5:22-23)

Jesus Christ being called the son of man is based on the fact that when he was here on earth he had fleshly parents, other wise the fact that he was the only begotten son of God still stands

100% human and 100% divine. God laughs at your logic!

The bible describes His conception by the Holy Spirit.... hence the only 'begotten' son.

Did you read the Bible at all? It is impossible to avoid the "Son of God" issue in the New Testament. Even the Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy because of it. "Son of man" simply refers to real human nature of Jesus. If you want scripture verses quickly about "Son of God", even the JW's will furnish you with tons of them. It is their specialty.

Jesus is both the Son of God, and God, and the Son of Man. The Christian Trinity is about God as one God in three parts -- God the Father, Jesus Christ God's Son, and God's Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of Mary, a human, and so Son of Man. Jesus' Father who birthed Him was God's Holy Spirit, and so Jesus is God's Son. And Jesus is God of the Trinity too.

Jesus told parables about Himself being the Messiah, God, Son. Also, He was killed because Jesus said He was King of the Jews, God's Son. And, here He is talking about Himself being greater that the temple --

The Holy Bible

Matthew 12:5-7

"5 And haven’t you read in the law of Moses that the priests on duty in the Temple may work on the Sabbath? 6 I tell you, there is one here who is even greater than the Temple! 7 But you would not have condemned my innocent disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices."

Read the book of Hebrews about who Jesus is and was -- God the Father has given Jesus Christ all authority on heaven and earth and He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

This is how to know God.-- the basic Christian message and prayer --- you need to accept God's Son, Jesus Christ, into your life to be a born again Christian and follow God's ways so you can receive God's guidance in your life and get to heaven after you die. Knowing God can transform your life. When you know God, then pray about your life, God can help you live a better life. As God is love, life is primarily about love and relationships in order to have a rich and full life. Also, you need to know God's Son, Jesus Christ, in your life as your Lord and Savior as Jesus died on the cross as payment for our sins. Having Him with you will give you God's blessing and forgiveness, as you live God's way. Not following God leads to hell, eternal suffering. Instead, there is an important prayer to pray to become a born again Christian. This prayer should be said with faith in God and a sincere heart:

"Dear God, I know that I am a sinful person and I don't want to be like this anymore. I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross as payment for our sins, and I want to accept Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior so I can receive God's forgiveness, guidance, and go to heaven someday. Thank you, dear God, for your mercy and guidance; in Jesus' name. Amen."

This prayer can take you to a new place in your relationship with God and transform your life. After saying this prayer, you should check out a Christian church, like Baptist or Lutheran. The church can get you baptized and prayed for, and you can pray for yourself daily. Also, get into their Bible study group so you can learn more about God, Jesus, and God's will for your life. The Bible is God's instruction book about how to live a God-honoring life so you can go to heaven after you die. Ways to stay connected to God's path include loving God and Jesus Christ, obeying God's ways, daily Bible reading, daily prayer for yourself and others, getting to church, having your church prayer group and/or pastor pray for you, fasting with prayer for a higher level of prayer, getting with other Christians and doing a Bible study, singing hymns to God, taking communion with the church, helping and loving others, expressing your gratitude to God for His help in your life by telling others of your progress and helping them draw closer to God too, tithing, volunteering at church. God guide your life.
