Question:
Spiritual and Religious people, isn't it just better to go to your groups than just hang out here?

Isn't it better to just go to sites with like-minded people than just be criticized by either atheists you don't resonate with or ignorant people who just criticize you?

I find this place to be very immature and many young souls who love to criticize you and your believes. I don't find it hard to believe that centuries ago back in Europe people were hanged because of their believes.

Wouldn't it be better to just go and talk to more like-minded people?

I think it's good to be exposed to different ideas and philosophies. It's a great learning experience. It may open your eyes to many new things- - it could change your mind on things or reinforce your own beliefs.

I find this very informative and interesting. I spend most of my time with people who are like-minded. This gives a fresh perspective on what others think and feel. Some people here goof off, but it is just their way of entertaining. "Immature" and "young souls" are just the ones with whom believes should be opening a dialogue. When you think of the suffering Paul and the others endured, a little criticisim is nothing. Every question is an opportunity!

You never grow and learn unless you ask questions. Like-minded people are teaching you anything you probably don't already know.

I do agree that there is a level of immaturity in a lot of the answers. Just put downs instead of people opening their minds enough to give a good answer.

Some people are too closed minded to learn or accept that we are not all the same and do have different beliefs. We are also all entitled to our different beliefs.

The reason I participate in this Forum is to answer questions about my religious beliefs (Roman Catholicism) asked by those who are genuinely curious. I'm also here to present the actual teachings of the Church, as opposed to the ridiculous claims made by anti-Catholic bigots.

It's nice to be with like-minded people for support and encouragement, but if that's all I did, I would never be able to help non-Catholics understand what we believe. That would leave the field wide-open for the Jack Chick school of bigots who love to spread lies against the Church and bring others over to their hate-filled way of thinking.

I love my Church, and I can't just sit back and watch people spew hatred and lies against Her without speaking up in Her defense. That's why I came here to R&S in the first place, and that's why I'm staying.

Jesus promised us if we took up our cross and followed Him we would

1. Die to ourselves.

2. Be ridiculed and mocked, even persecuted.

He said we should go into ALL the world and preach (Announce) the Gospel (Good News)

It is God's job to change minds and lives, it is mine to witness and announce the Good news. I cannot abandon these athesists because they mock and ridicule, because many years ago I was one of them.

A dear Christian soul witnessed the love of Christ to me and I could not turn from it, it attracted me and I was eventually converted and transformed. They do not appreciate the efforts to inform them of a loving God who wants them to be with Him. Nonetheless I will continue in the hope that one might still have hope and still might turn to God and be saved. Most of them are very good people and deserve to hear the Good News. If you want to hang out in a church with like minded people, do so and no one will fault you.

My place is here with these dear souls, warning and announcing as long as I have breath, because I love them and don't want them to be apart from God. I do not seek to win arguments, but to win souls for God and to glorify His name. God Bless you.

1 Peter 3

15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Yes that's right let whole nations go in their own gangs and live in secluded zones of the world - that's what's happened between the British Asians and White British in my home town and between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland ... I don't criticise either .. We're all entitled to our own beliefs and the right to defend them were someone else to disrespect them - a theological argument however is not criticism, its questioning and reaching conclusion.

No, I see YA as spiritual resistance training. It's far easier to sit on the couch than to lift weights, but which one is going to make you stronger?

Sure, filtering through the people with agendas and people who are just on to rant gets tiresome, but I've met some really neat people and really have enjoyed listening to the atheists and getting to understand them better.

I'm with Lady Astarte, I'm not here for the Theology, I'm here for the entertainment! And the witty repartee! And for the occasional opportunity to dispel some ridiculous myth about Mormons. :)

If you don't talk to people who disagree with you, what's the point. You never learn anything.

Like Henry Ford said, if both of agree on everything then one of us is redundant.

Yes but that kind of thinking could be used against your point: that if you don't like the atmosphere then leave. In my humble opinion, very few people are open to views contrary to their own whatever they choose to call themselves.

Nah, I use this place for entertainment. I also usually end up in agreement with people that have a different faith than I do.

I come here to spend time with like minded people.

The minor matter of them not sharing my beliefs is neither here nor there.

We see the world in a similar light, and it's nice to spend time with them.

If i'm in need of a serious answer or discussion concerning my beliefs...I do go elsewhere. This place is entertainment for me.

It's the Atheists (who supposedly don't believe in Religion or spirituality) that come here.
