Question:
Why do people who hate God pick on Leviticus ?
2010-09-16 07:10:16 UTC
Leviticus –

The book was called Leviticus because it addresses the laws and regulations of Israel the Levites and priests in particular!

As the law was our schoolmaster unto Christ, the whole sacrificial system was intended to point out the Lamb of God, Christ Jesus The Israelites Messiah , who takes away the sin of the world.

In reading Leviticus this point i.e. (Christ puts an end to the law) should be kept particularly in view, as without this spiritual reference we as Christians are not implicated .

When reading any part of the bible it is imperative to fix in your mind the following questions.

1.Who is speaking ?
2.Who are they speaking to ?
3.Under what authority ?
4.What is the Subject ?
5.What dispensation are they in
i.e before or after the Messiah ?

Leviticus : is hard for many people to understand.

Mockers take it out of context and scoffers use it to discredit God.

All of the God haters go to find fault …

But As sincere bible students we have a helper !

Never take on a big topic without … your help !

Because Greater is He who is in you ……. Your down payment !

(1 John 4:4 KJV) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

(1 John 4:5 KJV) They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

(1 John 4:6 KJV) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

It is a source of mocking because, as you stated, it was for the Israelites, not gentiles. However, on any given day Christians attempt to use those laws to dictate their own hatred for other things people do.

Most Christians that recite Leviticus, do it to show some sort of fault with others. Cherry picking this verse and that verse in an attempt to tell people how to live their lives. All the while, ignoring other verses that (if it was applicable) certainly applies to them.

Jesus said that he that is without sin may cast the first stone. If these Christians are cherry picking to put down others or in some way show how others are "worse" than they are, then they are going against the command by Jesus, himself.

In short, people hate hypocrites.

Atheists do not "hate" God, because they do not believe that he exists. Hatred of someone or something that does not exist would be a very unintelligent waste of emotional energy. Some atheists may hate organized religion, but that's actually rather a different matter.

Now, as far as Leviticus is concerned, most intelligent and educated people, including atheists, are very aware of the differences beween the old dispensation of the Old Testament and the new one of the Christian faith. This is not a difficult subject, contrary to your claim. When many people cite the laws found in Leviticus, they are actually making the case that the Bible, including both the Old and New Testaments, approves of many things that most people no longer accept 2,000-3,000 years later. This is an exercise in historical commentary, in seeing the Bible in its historical context rather than as a divinely-inspired document.

there is an massive distinction between the previous foodstuff rules and those bearing on morality. the two the OT and the NT communicate against a guy mendacity with yet another guy, or a woman mendacity with yet another woman. There are passages approximately burning a wall on your place if there is mould, as nicely, yet no person expects people to try this now, because of the fact there are extra useful strategies of killing it. The foodstuff rules have been set to maintain the persons healthful. ethical rules are actually not the comparable. additionally, Jesus reported that he got here to fulfill the guidelines, no longer erase them, and thank you to the fact of this breaking any of those ethical rules is a sin. You overlook one substantial factor. study the e book of John, first financial disaster. Verse one states, "interior the commencing up replaced into the observe, and the observe replaced into with God, and the observe replaced into God." In verse fourteen, you will see, "And the observe replaced into made flesh, and dwelt between us, (and we beheld his glory, the honour as of the only begotten of the daddy,) finished of grace and reality." In different words, the Jesus is the observe. each and every observe interior the Bible is Of Him. which ability all those OT admonitions against homosexuality, and those interior the NT, are all from the comparable source. to procure some thing else incorrect as nicely. Christians do no longer "hate" those that prepare homosexuality; we basically do no longer approve of the sin. the detest factor is a fantasy perpetuated by the pro-gay crowd to demonize their opposition. And in the past you are worried tossing this one out, that Westboro "Baptist Church" is neither Christian nor Baptist, and their strikes are thoroughly vile. that is no longer satire; it relatively is a inexpensive shot, and you have undesirable objective.

*This question needs large answer, The other people in old testament have seen deeds and works of GOD as the God of Israel. In fact God is the creator of all, but they all did not see Him, they had seen themselves, in making "gods" for family, country. Except Israel is different. Others have seen The unlimited power of the Lord God. Reading Bible with pray for understanding, Example: Many chances were given to pharaoh of Egypt to get them free. Egypt lived watching and has known these evidences were did by the GOD Himself. Egypt stayed worship its "gods" - and so on all countries.

*JESUS has explained and interpreted the same commandments of Old Testament, Who has given is the creator, the Lord God.

*In Old Testament, most of people dismiss obeying God, Israel also has left worship God, they were attacked by other countries, their cities were destroyed when God allowed.

Israel divided into two kingdoms. The North has chosen the system of countries around it in worship - Idol, paganism.

*History registered Pains of Israel were more than Gains, Comparing other countries, Punishment from GOD.

*Now as similar to the past. people now has chosen world which they will leave in death, Refused GOD.

*"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." (Galatians 6:7-8)

*Question still !!!

I don't know a single Atheist, Humanist, Agnostic who "hates god".

Just because we don't believe in your god, no need to turn this into a hate thing.

Prove your god exists, instead of "claiming persecution" all the time.

Why should the laws of Israel be obeyed outside of Israel? Do they obey British laws?

Why do people who hate reason and honesty conveniently ignore the inconvenient parts of their own holy texts?

well, then, i'm so glad you cleared that up for us, now i know that god was once vile, cruel, and ruthlessly violent, but now he's changed his mind, so it's all good, all the people that he had killed, and all of his violent acts no longer matter, it's a good thing jesus came along and changed his mind

edit: god is the one who set violent, cruel laws on the people, ordered them to kill for many minor offenses such as disobedience to one's parents, homosexual acts, adultery, eating the wrong foods, being a seer or sorcerer (ie witch), tearing one's clothes or having one's hair unkempt, if that was all the doing of the Israelites and not the doing of god i would like to know why they were set about as his rules, and he would name such a vile group of people as his chosen people.

Well you lot are always quoting verses from it! When it suits you that is. For example you use the verse against homosexuals just because you get a sick thrill out of calling them "abominations"
2010-09-16 07:13:53 UTC
Because the god lovers use it to condemn others.

You can't follow part of it and not the rest, cherry picker!

"Christ puts an end to the law"

I'm pretty sure Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, not abolish it.
