Good question! It was just as good now as it was 2500 years ago. Puzzled? Let me tell you this that slightly more than 2500 years ago, there was a group of people from Kalamas, a distant township in India from where the Buddha was in pain and resting and literally waiting for his (own) passing. When these people arrived after days of walking to seek an audience with the Buddha, they were stopped by the Buddha's personal assistant, Venerable Ananda who wanted the Buddha to rest. However, upon hearing the commotion, the Buddha asked what caused the argument, and after knowing the reason, asked Ananda to allow the people from Kalamas to enter. Upon seeing the Buddha reclining between the two sal trees, they then realized that the Buddha who was than an old man of 70 was dying. Yet, the Buddha asked what was that they wanted to know. The people then asked him that since there were so many religions, each professing to be true and correct, how then could one discern which religion to be the correct one. That was the question that you now asked. The Buddha's reply did not preach that his teaching was the truth or the correct one, instead, he laid down the conditions of what a correct and truthful religion should be. His discourse was later known as The Kalamas Sutta and it contained a comprehensive jolting answer. You may find this sutta in the internet.

There is no correct religion. They are all just social constructs. You should choose a religion that fits you and gives you a benefit. If you think that religion is funny and that it doesn't give you anything good, you are better off without religion. Note that not having a religion does not mean you don't believe in god. You can believe in god without religion.



However, if you are really seeking for a religion, I suggest trying them all. People will tell you that their religion is correct, but they are only telling that to you because that is what worked for them.

Try a religion and learn about the practices. Quit if you can't stand it, then move to another. You will never know until you try, right? You can even make your own religion.

The only religion that is correct is the one that makes you as a person content with your own being. This can mean any religion or none at all. All these people will tell you that theres is the only true one, then why is theres so many? And as for "biblical prophecy", if you say something will happen one day eventually that something will happen. Everyone's been predicting the end of the world since man could comprehend. Both the Jewish and Christian religion are acceptable. Especially those Jews who follow Jesus Christ or Messianic Jews. However their practice of the Christian faith has always been to follow the Mosaic law where as the gentile Christians are not bound by such. This is true even to this day. And this is where most Christians are confused today to think God has left the Jews. But he never has. The history of this is all recorded in Luke's second book, Acts. The first one he wrote was the gospel of Luke.



We know this religion is true since it has recorded history from the creation of the universe, to the creation of earth and man in it. Fulfilled Bible prophecy over the years has been 100% accurate. And there are still more that be fulfilled because it is God's word and not man's word as many scoffers would want us to believe.

I left of spiritual and polytheist religions because its basically worshipping your own creation. There Is one God and if there were many, this world would not be because each God/ess would want it.

(5) Do its members truly love one another? Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35) Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries, drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as being truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians did.



(6) Is it truly separate from the world? Jesus said that his true followers would be “no part of the world.” (John 15:19) To worship God in a manner that he approves requires that we keep ourselves “without spot from the world.” (Jas. 1:27) Can that be said of those whose clergy and other members are involved in politics, or whose lives are largely built around materialistic and fleshly desires?—1 John 2:15-17.

What do you believe a religion is? By the words you use it seems you think that there is one that is true & the rest are false?

In reality, the 1st. act of "religion" made by man took place right after Adam digested the fruit from the tree of "KNOWLEDGE".

Upon finding themselves naked Adam & Eve, not Steve, by the way, decided to cover-up their nakedness from each other & hide from God. Now keep in mind that this character, God, was the Creator. He had a lot of power & Adam & Eve were afraid, they just had to hide from the big guy.because they just knew that He would be very angry with them for disobeying Him.

As the story goes, they sawed fig leaves together & covered their bodies up with them & hid from God.

The act of using fig leaves to cover their nakedness or what really comes down to covering the result of their disobedience, sin.

Some other important result of Adam & Eves disobedience were;

#1) They fell from superior beings bestowed with great natural knowledge & masters over God`s Creation

#2) Their God given status also gave them the power to judge the very Angels themselves. Something which greatly annoyed Satan, Lucifer, the God created Archangel who prior to the creation Of Adam & Eve & his rebellious fall had the distinct privileges of being in charge over God`s creation & the lead Music Director in God`s Choir. In fact he enjoyed his unique status as God`s .....Foreman?; very much.

Anyway, his status, he thought, was second only to God`s. You see where Lucifer forgot himself? There was never any way that he could even compare himself, just a tiny little bit, to God.

But he decided that he could do a much better job than God; remember the saying: "Pride goes before a great fall"?

Well, he sure did have 1 great fall & nothing could put him back together again because nobody influenced him in going that way. He rebelled by himself & influenced other Angels in to following him all by himself.

This makes for a great difference between his rebellious fall & Adam & Eve`s influenced decision to disobey God`s command.

Once God replaced Lucifer with Adam & Eve (HUMANS) as caretakers of His Creation & gave them the authority to at some point judge the created Angels, & to top it off with giving Eve the added status of bringing the seed of God`s Savior into the world after their fall, puts a huge hatred directed at all humans from Satan but even a greater hatred directed at the woman.

Getting back to religion, it is an act by man & woman to cover their disobedience & guilt by their own means & God`s response.

How long would the fig leaves covering them last? How would they protect humans from the elements?

God`s infinite wisdom went to work & sadly, innocent animals had to bear the price for Adam & Eve`s decision by the shedding of their blood.

This was the 1st. blood sacrifice offered by a living & loving God in order to benefit human beings.

Religion is man`s attempt to cover his sinfulness through his own means.

There is no true religion that can get man close to God. No religion leads man to God or will ever save man from sin.

Jesus, the Savior is the only way to God. He`s the perfect sacrifice & the only one who can establish a relationship with God, no religion has the power to do this.
