Question:
How the world began?

I know that the evolutionists are supporting the big bang theory, and I know that the creationists are saying that god created the earth, but can someone tell me more about the theories and possibly some evidence that can support it?
I also find it very interesting how the evolutionists lost a debate in the 1970s when they brought know evidence to back up their claims, so right now, I'm asking what evidence can you show that these theories are true? Or is there another theory as to how the world began?

If you are interested in the Big Bang theory that is a cosmology issue and has little to do with evolution. "A Brief History of Time" by Steven Hawkings is a good book, or "A Short History of Everything" of Bill Bryson is more accessible.

On the matter of evolution, "The Blind Watchmaker" by Richard Dawkins. Or, go to Wikipedia and look up evolution. You will find plenty of evidence there, and no confusing opinated answers.

How confused you sound.

There's about 9 billion years between the Big Bang and the coalescion of the planets in our solar system. Where did you get the idea that "evolutionists" "believe" that the Earth formed during the Big Bang?

Not sure why you're bringing up a debate lost in the '70s, science isn't a debate after all. My guess is that you didn't know that...

"and I'm not trying to make creationists OR evolutionists look dumb."

Even though you might not be, you sure as hell are making yourself look dumb or otherwise just ignorant to the facts of the matter.

I suggest you watch this video entitled "The History of the Universe made easy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg1fs6vp9Ok There are also some other videos from this guy that you may find interesting, even if you aren't willing to accept the scientific answer, its at least a good idea to know what you're arguing against. http://www.youtube.com/potholer54

Well, I have my own theory that kind of makes sense, and it satisfys both the creationists, and the evolutionists.

Here it is:

God did create the Universe with the Big Bang, or something to that effect. When it says 7 days Genesis, the time span for a day has not yet been set because there is no earth yet. This being said, when it says days, it could mean any period of time and they don't all necessarily have to be the same length; from thousands to millions to billions of years. During the course of the 7 days, he made the universe, then the earth, the seas, and then all the organisms that populate the earth ending with humans.

I feel this theory justifies both sides of the debate and shows just how tricky and subtle God can be.

Hilarious. What debate?

The fact that you're confusing evolution and the big bang says you're either intentionally trying to make creationists look dumb or you don't actually have any idea what the two are.

Next you might want to look up the definition of a 'scientific theory' versus 'theory'.

Evolution and the big bang fall under 'scientific theory' which does need factual evidence to support them. While creationism is a theory only under the abstract notion definition of theory.

==

"big bang theory-- basically how the world was created. "

The big bang describes the initial expansion of the universe, not the creation of the earth.

==

"well, creationists also have scientific evidence for how god created the earth."

I'm sorry to break it to you but they don't unless of course you're talking about those who borrow what we know about the big bang and claim "god created the big bang".

==

"Well it's possible that god might have.." that isn't evidence. It's wishful thinking. You're free to believe it of course but belief isn't evidence.

==

"So are you 100% sure there's no god?"

Who are you asking? I've never personally claimed that. Are you 100% certain that there is or that the thousands of other deities humans have claimed don't exist?

"because it doesn't seem like god fits in the picture"

I agree there is no evidence for any deity and I see no way a deity would fit into any of it.

Well, I believe that humans have somewhat evolved. But I mean from apes, that is just insulting. O.k. so if we came from the apes then where did they come from... then the list continues. As for the big BANG that is very ridiculous. Just bang there were a million complex living things that came from no where. Creation is what really makes sense to me. Look around you at the trees and rivers. The sky. Yes, God did make all of that. He is an artist. He paints the sunsets and forms each grain of sand. Sorry I am not trying to preach. The thing about God is there is not proven proof. Otherwise Christians would not have faith, which is the biggest part of the religion. To look outside and see the world is enough proof to me. If you talk to God he will show himself, but not in the way you think. Because if God were to show up at your house and knock at your door then there would be no faith. I hope I could help give you parts of the asnwers you need. That is a big question that many people have asked.

Love is patient,

I will answer your question according to my believe and faith which is Islam. Islam has its own world beginning theory and it is supported by modern sciences. So please read lines below and you can judge at the end...

The science of modern cosmology, observational and theoretical,

clearly indicates that, at one point in time, the whole universe

was nothing but a cloud of ‘smoke’ (i.e. an opaque highly dense

and hot gaseous composition).1 This is one of the undisputed

principles of standard modern cosmology. Scientists now can

observe new stars forming out of the remnants of that ‘smoke’ .The illuminating stars we see at night were,

just as was the whole universe, in that ‘smoke’ material.

God has said in the Qur’an:

( Then He turned to the heaven when it was

smoke... ) (Qur’an, 41:11)

Because the earth and the heavens above (the sun, the moon,

stars, planets, galaxies, etc.) have been formed from this same

‘smoke,’ we conclude that the earth and the heavens were one

connected entity. Then out of this homogeneous ‘smoke,’ they

formed and separated from each other. God has said in the Qur’an:( Have not those who disbelieved known that

the heavens and the earth were one connected

entity, then We separated them?...) (Qur’an,

21:30)

of Geology at the Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg

University, Mainz, Germany. He said: “Thinking where Muhammad

came from . . . I think it is almost impossible that he could

have known about things like the common origin of the universe,

because scientists have only found out within the last few years,

with very complicated and advanced technological methods, that

this is the case.”2 Also he said: “Somebody who did not know

God creating the earth isn't a theory - it's the truth. EVOLUTION is a theory thought up by man. It clearly says in God's word (and God cannot lie 'cause He is sinless) that He created the heavens and the earth and all that it contains. Read the book of Genesis - that tells the REAL story how the earth was created. :D
