Question:
Who is Jesus Christ in the Bible?
2012-03-25 14:21:52 UTC
Is he Michael the Achangel?
Is he Lucifer's spiritual brother?
Is he the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega, the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings?

If you get Jesus Christ wrong, "nothing" else matters. Won't matter how many doors you knock on! Won't matter how many temples you build! Won't matter how many meetings you attend! Won't matter how many missions you go on! Nothing else will matter!!!

What do Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and Christians have to say?

Jehovah's Witnesses say Jehovah created Jesus as Michael the archangel.

Latter Day Saints say Almighty God is Elohim and the first offspring between Elohim and one of his wives was Jehovah. Jehovah then came to earth as Jesus.

Christians say that Jesus is the Word, or Logos and that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Christians say that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have eternally existed, none of them being created. Within the One Being of God subsist the three separate persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Jesus is Lord of Lords (Deuteronomy 10:17; Psalm 136:3; 1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14 and 19:16)

Jesus is Creator (Genesis 1:1; Job 33:4; Isaiah 40:28; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:12-17; Hebrews 1:8-12)

Jesus is First and Last (Isaiah 41:4; 44:6; 48:12; Revelation 1:17; 2:8; 22:13)

Jesus is I AM (Exodus 3:13-14; John 8:24 and 58; 13:19)

Jesus is Judge (Genesis 18:25; Psalm 96:13; Joel 3:12; 2 Timothy 4:1; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10-12)

Jesus is King (Psalm 47, Isaiah 44:6-8; Jeremiah 10:10; Matthew 2:1-6; John 19:21; Romans 14:10-12)

Jesus is Light (Psalm 27:1; Isaiah 6:20; John 1:9 and 8:12)

Jesus is Saviour (Psalm 106:21; Isaiah 44:3 and 11; 45;21-23; John 4:42; Acts 4:10-12; 1 John 4:14)

Jesus is God (Hebrews 1:8; Psalm 45:6-7; John 20:28; Isaiah 9:6 and 10:21)

My Lord and Saviour is no created archangel. My Lord and Saviour was not born as Jehovah. There is no other name than the name of Jesus by which we can be saved, and those persons who refuse to bend the knee and worship him will have to account to God on the final day of judgment for failing to recognise Jesus, the Son, the Word, the Logos, the Christ, the Messiah for who he really is.

Long before Jesus was born, the Bible foretold the coming of the one whom God would send as the Messiah, or Christ. The titles “Messiah” (from a Hebrew word) and “Christ” (from a Greek word) both mean “Anointed One.” This promised One would be anointed, that is, appointed by God to a special position. In later chapters of this book, we will learn more about the Messiah’s important place in the fulfillment of God’s promises. We will also learn about the blessings that Jesus can bring us even now. Before Jesus was born, however, many no doubt wondered, ‘Who will prove to be the Messiah?’

5 In the first century C.E., the disciples of Jesus of Nazareth were fully convinced that he was the foretold Messiah. (John 1:41) One of the disciples, a man named Simon Peter, openly said to Jesus: “You are the Christ.” (Matthew 16:16) How, though, could those disciples—and how can we—be sure that Jesus really is the promised Messiah?

6 The prophets of God who lived before Jesus foretold many details about the Messiah. These details would help others to identify him. We might illustrate things this way: Suppose you were asked to go to a busy bus depot or a train station or an airport to pick up someone you had never met before. Would it not help if someone gave you a few details about him? Similarly, by means of the Bible prophets, Jehovah gave a rather detailed description of what the Messiah would do and what he would experience. The fulfillment of these many prophecies would help faithful ones to identify him clearly.

7 Consider just two examples. First, over 700 years in advance, the prophet Micah foretold that the promised One would be born in Bethlehem, a small town in the land of Judah. (Micah 5:2) Where was Jesus actually born? Why, in that very town! (Matthew 2:1, 3-9) Second, many centuries in advance, the prophecy recorded at Daniel 9:25 pointed to the very year when the Messiah was to appear—29 C.E.* The fulfillment of these and other prophecies proves that Jesus was the promised Messiah.

At his baptism, Jesus became the Messiah, or Christ

8 Further proof that Jesus was the Messiah became clear near the end of 29 C.E. That is the year when Jesus went to John the Baptizer to be baptized in the Jordan River. Jehovah had promised John a sign so that he could identify the Messiah. John saw that sign at Jesus’ baptism. The Bible says that this is what happened: “After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: ‘This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.’” (Matthew 3:16, 17) After seeing and hearing what happened, John had no doubt that Jesus was sent by God. (John 1:32-34) At the moment when God’s spirit, or active force, was poured out upon him that day, Jesus became the Messiah, or Christ, the one appointed to be Leader and King.—Isaiah 55:4.

He IS the Lord of Lords, King of Kings!

As a former JW they believe he is not God

But God's Son! Which indirectly is true as the

bible says so. However, only in the flesh, was he.

In his true spiritual form He is the God of the OT,

Jehovah! Whereas JWs erroneously think that

name belongs to the Father.

But nowhere do we see Jesus address the "Father"

by the name, Jehovah!

Only when he addresses God does he use that name.

There are far too many scriptures comparing Jesus with

Jehovah for them not to be the one & same person.

What is more in Revelation Jesus shows that his new name

is kept secret for now! Yet, JWs claim that the Father name

who is greater than Jesus, we do know!?

This then shows it doesn't make sense! Revelation 3:12

Edit:@كورتيس Jesus never actually 'denied' he was good?

All he said was, 'Why' do you call me good?

Only God is good! Therefore he was more

likely indirectly saying he was actually God!?

John20:28

My Lord and my God - In this passage the name God is expressly given to Christ, in his own presence and by one of his own apostles. This declaration has been considered as a clear proof of the divinity of Christ, for the following reasons:

1. There is no evidence that this was a mere expression, as some have supposed, of surprise or astonishment.

2. The language was addressed to Jesus himself - "Thomas ...said unto him."

3. The Saviour did not reprove him or check him as using any improper language. If he had not been divine, it is impossible to reconcile it with his honesty that he did not rebuke the disciple. No pious man would have allowed such language to be addressed to him. Compare Acts 14:13-15; Revelation 22:8-9.

4. The Saviour proceeds immediately to commend Thomas for believing; but what was the evidence of his believing? It was this declaration, and this only. If this was a mere exclamation of surprise, what proof was it that Thomas believed? Before this he doubted. Now he believed, and gave utterance to his belief, that Jesus was his Lord and his God.

5. If this was not the meaning of Thomas, then his exclamation was a mere act of profaneness, and the Saviour would not have commended him for taking the name of the Lord his God in vain. The passage proves, therefore, that it is proper to apply to Christ the name Lord and God, and thus accords with what John affirmed in John 1:1, and which is established throughout this gospel.

Larry, thanks. Jesus Christ our Lord is not Michael as the 7th day adventists say. Michael is a created being while the Lord Jesus is the creator. "Every thing by Him was made" Jn. 1:1-2

Jesus is not Lucifer. Lucifer is a fallen angel as he lifted himself to be equal with God: "For thou hast said in thine heart I will ascend into heaven I will exalt my throne above ... I will be like the most Hieh...but you shall be brought down to hell..." Isaiah 14:13-15

Jesus Christ is our God and Savior::"for in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" Colossians 2:9

From a Mormon viewpoint:

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the Divine Creator of this world. We believe in the same Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament, who was born of Mary, who lived a sinless life, and who gave Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. He provided a way for all to receive Eternal Life, through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance and keeping the commandments. We believe salvation can come through Jesus Christ ONLY - there is no other way.

No, we do not believe Jesus Christ is the same person as Michael the Archangel.

We do believe that we are ALL sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. Yes, that does make the Saviour and the rest of us spiritual siblings of Satan and his followers who were cast out of Heaven for rebellion, BUT CRUCIALLY we believe that ALL those living on the earth rejected Satans inticings and chose Jesus Christ and the plan for Him to be our Lord and Redeemer. That does NOT mean we equate Christ and Satan in any way - they are at the furthest opposite points of the spectrum one from the other. You are incorrect to assert that we believe otherwise. In every way they are poles apart.

We do believe Jesus Christ is King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the great I AM, Alpha and Omega and Jehovah of the Old Testament (We differ from the JW's on that point) and the Saviour as portrayed in the New Testament.

The central message of our Missionaries is about Jesus Christ and His Church. The Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are also 'Christ-centrered' , Everything about the Temple symbolically points to Jesus Christ and His Atonement(sacrifice) for all mankind and invites those who attend to pattern their lives after Him.

You are right...nothing else matters - our understanding of the nature and person of Jesus Christ is paramount. In every way members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worship and strive to follow Jesus Christ (the clue is in the name of the Church!)

Well, Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, following his footstep as he showed us to please his Father... Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians because that is exactly what we strive to always do.

Jesus Christ is the Savior of mankind. He gave his life for Humans in order for us to have a fresh start in having a relationship with Jehovah God( John 3:16). The sacrifice of him is only beneficial to us if we seek to gain a relationship with the true God Jehovah( John 17:3). In heaven Jesus name was Michael the Archangel who is the leader of the Angelic army. After Michael was given his assignment from Jehovah to come and help us to learn the truth about Jehovah and himself. He was given the name Jesus in representing his heavenly Father. Not that he lived up to this name. He is now Jesus forever to time indefinite. living up to your name was something important in Biblical times. Even Jesus had to luvery up to that name.... all the things that was done by Jesus was to promote God's kingdom a heavenly government that will crush all these earthly governments and God's government will last forever. Jesus is now the king of that government. Daniel 2:44. Soon Jehovah will allow his son Jesus to act and end this wicked world we live in and bring to earth a Paradise and life for humans will be forever in peace. John 17:3, Psalms 37:9-11, Revelation 21:3,4

Jesus Christ is the son of God, born of the mother Mary. He taught in Parables so that we might better understand his teachings. He followed his father's commandments to go as far as getting baptized. He did not need to get baptized, but what example would he be if he didn't? He is the one we (christians) strive to be like. He died for our sins. He went to the garden of Gethsemane and bleed from EVERY PORE for us. For you and me so that we can be saved, so that we can repent, so that we would always have someone that knows what we have went through. He IS our savior.

Greetings,

Because of the solid scriptural evidence that Michael is Christ, most early "church fathers" and many Trinitarian scholars from different religious denominations have agreed that Michael is one of the names of the Christ, including most early Protestants Scholars.

But, the argument inherent in this question is as illogical as asking if two individuals were brothers because they both were "servants." Such a question would only demonstrate how little the questioner knew regarding the definition and usage of words.

Both the devil and Christ as Michael are spirit beings or “angels.” But, this has absolutely no relevancy to the similarity or dissimilarity in the nature, position or authority of the messengers. Humans are also called "angels" (Hag 1:13; Mal.2:7; 1Sam.29:9; 2Sam.14:17; Zech.12:8). Yet, no one would assume that they are equal in nature or power.

While the Bible describes anointed humans as Christ's "brothers" this is NEVER a description used of Satan. Nor does the Bible directly call Satan a "son" of God, though all angels and humans are thus described. Yet, just as with the term "angel" calling someone a son of God does not infer equality or a similarities in their nature. God denies the sonship of wicked angels and wicked humans (De. 32:5; 1Jn 3:10).

So it would be inappropriate to say that Satan and Jesus are "brothers."

Jehovah’s Witnesses have it right about Jesus because they believe everything the Bible teaches regarding Christ!

Jesus Christ is our loving Lord and Savior, our King and the divine son of the Almighty God. He is our exemplar and we listen to him as obedient children (Jn 1:14).

He was elevated and "made Lord" over all God's creation and was "given" an exalted name and authority (Ac 2:36; Php 2:9-11; Mt 28:18). As the reigning king of God's kingdom he will soon cleanse the earth of all wickedness.

Christ is our only means of approach to Jehovah God (Jn 14:6; 1Cor 3:11; Eph 5:20; Jn.17:3,26) and by his teachings and actions he showed how we could be reconciled to God and proved God's love for us (Jn. 3:16 ; Rm.5:8; 5:10). As imperfect humans, we can attain such a peaceful relationship with God only through his Son. Because Jesus' love, feeling, and compassion are a faithful reflection of Jehovah's qualities. (Mt 11:28-30; Mk 6:30-34; Jn 15:13, 14; Col 1:15; Heb 1:3)

By our thinking and actions we prove that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and that he dwells in our hearts (Eph 3:14-17). Because of our great love for Christ, we have made it our primary purpose in life to teach others all that Christ has done for mankind and that everyone owes him their thanks, praise, and honor.

More than just our Lord and King he is also our friend and comforter when we are enduring physical or spiritual troubles and our assurance when we make mistakes (1Jn 2:1-6).

Jehovah's Witnesses live up to these words by demonstrating that they accept Jesus as their Lord by being obedient to his commands and also teaching Truth from the Scriptures.

On the other hand, the Scriptures repeatedly show that many would claim to have a relationship with Christ and even call him their Lord, yet their worship of God would be useless:

2Tim.3:5 "While they retain the outward form of religion, they will not allow it to influence them. Turn your back on such men as these."

Mt 7:22,23 "On ‘That Day' many will say to me ‘Master, Master, was not it in your name that we taught, and in your name that we drove out demons, and in your name that we did many miracles?' And then I shall say to them plainly ‘I never knew you. Go from my presence, you who live in sin.'"

In fact, when you examine religions most cannot meet the requirements of being true Christians. Their historical record is of blood thirsty wars and sectarian violence (Mat.7:21-23; 2Tim3:5; Gal.5:19-23). Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics and Protestants kill Protestants, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8). Could anyone properly claim a relationship with Christ and still be fellowshipping with such religions?

1Jo 4:20-21 If anyone makes the statement: "I love God," and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving God, whom he has not seen."

I believe that only Jehovah's Witnesses as a group give evidence that they truly have "confessed" Christ as Lord and Savior.

Witnesses invite all to critically examine their beliefs in light of the plain and explicit teaching of Scripture and the evidence in the actions of your religion and its members, then choose to follow Christ closely (Rom.10:1-3; Eph.1:17).

Yours,

If you must read the Bible, just focus on the Words of Jesus (pbuh). He never says he is God and actually says the complete opposite. Jesus is a Prophet of Allah (Arabic for God).

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone. (Luke 18:19)
