What was wrong with my answer to this question?
I went through the same ordeal in my mid twenty's as I grew more interested in the subject of ritual magic I tried looking for actual groups in Seattle that took the subject seriously never found one so on that note unless you live in a pagan friendly area (Seattle being fairly liberal it is not pagan at all) I would try not to depend on the internet too much for a whole host of reasons the main one you don't know if they actually take the subject seriously or sane there is one group that has a history and very distinguished that is the http://oto-usa.org/ they might have a chapter near by, you could look into it at least you 'd be talking to reputable people and not a computer screen also check with your local library or occult book store their safe and a wealth of info otherwise iv always gone with reputable people and never the internet. Read Crowley and Agrippa their essential reading and the black arts by Richard Cavendish huge help when I was a beginner and check out http://www.edgeofthecircle.com/ they were and maybe still the most reputable in the Seattle area and had most of what I was looking for (Amazon is good to).
