... is it more the false theist assertion that "God must exist, who else could create the universe?"

And that's all there is to it.

That's all there is to it. Stupid really, if they believe in an uncaused god why can't they believe in an uncaused universe? The universe has the advantage if evidently existing! The god hypothesis is probably the worst hypothesis ever. Consider:Since nobody has been able to answer some VERY basic questions it's a mystery that anybody at all can believe in god. Some questions the theists should ask themselves are

1) Why is there a god? If a god is the explanation to why the universe exists then the next question is "Why is there a god"? Actually the fantasy "explanation" of the god just pushes th e "WHY" question one step awy.

2) The WHERE question. Where was god when he made the universe? Wherever it was where did THAT place come from?

3) The HOW question. How did god create the universe? Creation from nothing is impossible according to all empirical evidence. Cause and effect is only possible if there is something to start with.

4) The WHAT question. God is immaterial they say. What is that? Can you describe it? Can you show that immaterial exists?

5) The WHEN question. If god has always existed. From where did the time in the unexplained "space" where god was come? God cannot have created time because creation takes place in a time context. Time is a dimension in which events can be ordered from the past through the present into the future, and also the measure of durations of events and the intervals between them. So time is a must for creation.

There is evidence in mathematics and geometry, life, the cosmos etc that hint towards a structured formation of a balanced reality.

Take the cosmological constants for example, the golden section in lifeforms, and various mathematical principles that not only have curious implications on paper but also exist physically throughout nature, both life and science.

You'll have to put time into searching these philosophies if you want a true opinion on the subject, I have always been a Science believer, but have since chosen to believe in a "Devine source", however am still not convinced by afterlife or an active being right her right now.

Basically. I vaguely understand why people believe everything started by a god but when they claim that this god came down and done this and that and there is proof for it all that is when I just roll my eyes back and snicker at these zealots. It is so baffling how they don't see all the contradictions of there religion. And I been thinking recently that it is even kind of an insult to the god if he is in fact all-loving and knowing that this is the best way he can tell us? With 2000 year old books that are just full of ignorance, bigotry, misogyny, genocide, etc. That is one pathetic god these people worship.

Yes, since there is no credible evidence supporting the existence of God, and the theist assertion that "God must exist, who else could create the universe? it is more false , and the theists are, of course, referring to their god of the Bible.

However, the Bible itself proves that its god does not exist.

That is because the Bible describes a cosmos that its god was supposed to have created, but that cosmos is not the universe that we know of and that biblical cosmos does not exist.

According to the Bible the earth is a flat, immovable disk, supported by pillars and covered with a solid vault of heaven, the rim of which is is resting on the perimeter of the disk of the earth, and the stars are just lights set in the vault of heaven.

Click on the image below to enlarge it.

I show that to be the case in my extensive answer to the question in the link following in which I provide a very large number of biblical passages to support that understanding.

https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20141114093454AAsKope

That this is the correct view of the biblical cosmos is shown by the fact that it describes a structure with parts that are fully consistent with each other. That structural consistency indicates that it accurately represents the cosmos as conceived by the ancient Hebrews and as its writers incorporated that view in the Bible.

In addition, according to the Bible, earth is the centerpiece of creation and in the Last Days god will destroy the earth and the heavens and create a new heaven and earth as part of his plan for mankind. (2 Peter 3:10-13).

Is that realistic considering the vastness of the universe and its enormous number of galaxies? In the actual universe that science has uncovered, the earth is an insignificant mote, even considerably more insignificant than the size of an atom is with respect to the size of the earth. It is the height of geocentric IDIOCY to think that the whole universe was created merely for the sake of the earth and its inhabitants.

Watch the three-minute video below.

So, if one fully accepts the modern, present-day view of the universe that science has uncovered as factual, then one would have to conclude that, because the cosmos that the biblical god created does not exist, then the god who created that non-existent cosmos does not exist either.

@David@YourService refers to an article about human population growth and declares that it refutes evolution because humans were supposed to have existed for 200,000 years before 5115 years ago.

In fact, humans lived a hunting and gathering existence for most of that time, which severely limited population growth. It was not until agriculture was developed that human population growth took off and people started living in cities. The article itself actually goes on to say that the explosive population growth took place "OVER the past 5115 years" (my emphasis).

It was around 5,000 to 6,000 years ago, along with city living, that early religions with their myths developed. During their Babylonian Captivity, the Israelites picked up a myth about a god-sent flood (from the Epic of Gilgamesh) and modified it to reflect an action by their own god and incorporated it in their scriptures.

The problem isn’t with the evidence. It’s with the atheists.

There are two things all atheists have in common. One of course is a disbelief in God. The second is an inconsistency when it comes to circumstantial evidence. Atheists have no problem whatsoever believing in things that they cannot see and never will see such as black holes, electron orbitals, and the newest, dark matter and dark energy solely based on circumstantial evidence that they are told supports their existence. However, when it comes to God, only seeing is believing.

And when presented with overwhelming circumstantial evidence for God’s existence, in desperation they can always resort to their last-ditch, when-all-else-fails ad hoc “God of the gaps” rescue device: “I don’t know how all that happened, but someday scientists will figure it all out. Just because we don’t know something does not mean God exists”.

Their hope is that others will not notice the obvious inconsistency so that they appear to be objective rationalists, when in fact, they are intellectual hypocrites that God and others see right through.

“because that which is known of God is revealed in them, for God revealed it to them. For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse” (Rom 1:19-20).

You have to give God credit for providing the evidence in such a manner as to obviously expose and filter out those who are intellectually dishonest.

Below is a typical example of how atheists simply bury their head or employ their “God of the gaps” rescue device in the face of overwhelming circumstantial evidence.

First the money quote from the renowned journal “Science”: “The maximum-likelihood time for accelerated growth was 5,115 years ago” (http://www.sciencemag.org/content/337/6090/64.full).

In a nutshell, what that seemingly insignificant statement is saying is that after doing numerous studies on human DNA, scientists have determined that the data shows that at 5,115 years ago or less, all of a sudden human DNA started varying like gangbusters. Now what would explain that?

According to athee-evos, humans have been around for about 200,000 years. That would mean that for about 195,000 years basically everyone was almost a clone of one another, like an identical twin, and then all of a sudden by magic, they started looking different like what we have today. Huh? Of course, there is absolutely no evidence for such a claim.

In contrast, the observable scientific evidence shows massive flooding worldwide quickly burying billions of things which then fossilized. If about 4,500 years ago, those massive floods wiped out all of mankind except for a few people, that would explain the variation in DNA starting at about that point. And if one of those survivors was 600 years old when such a flood began, that would mean the variation started at about 5,100 years ago. Well, what a “coincidence”!

Who said Christians don’t like science? We LOVE it.

No credible evidence? Really? And who have you been listening to? Yourself? Because I have tons of evidence. However, it's mine. Get your own. That's how faith works, and you are not going to be God's little exemption so forget it.

Oops! Did I say a bad word.... "work"? Nothing comes from nothing. Apparently, from your statement, you somehow believe it can.

Purpose of the Universe and Creation

The universe, including this planet, was created for one purpose: to provide a suitable habitation for the human race. The human race was created in the image and likeness of God for one purpose: to provide an eternal companion for the SON.

The Messiah came for one intent and only one: to give birth to His Church, thus to obtain His Bride.

The entire universe in its totality is cooperating with God in His purpose to select and train His Church as His Eternal Companion. The entire universe is ordered for this purpose, for all this belongs to the Church and are for her benefit (1Cor. 3:21-23)

God is controlling all of its events, not only on earth in all realms, to serve His purpose of bringing to maturity and eventually to enthronement with His Son, not angels, not archangels, but the Church, His chosen Bride. Romans 8:38

Actually, there is credible evidence, and, rather a lot of it. Not much in science, but, epistemology shows us that science is not the only way to know things.

THE QURAN ISNT A BOOK OF SCIENCE IT’S A BOOK OF SIGNS FROM GOD!

The Sun and Moon.

Whereas the Bible talks of the sun and the moon as two lights differing only in size, the Qur’an distinguishes between them by the use of different terms: light (noor) for the moon, and lamp (siraaj) for the sun.

“Did you see how Allah created seven heavens, one above the other, and made in them the moon a light and the sun a lamp?” Qur’an, 78:12-13

The moon is an inert body which reflects light, whereas the sun is a celestial body in a state of permanent combustion producing both light and heat.

THE SUN ROTATES“It is He Who created The Night and the Day, And the

sun and the moon: All (the celestial bodies) Swim along, each in its

Rounded course.” [Al-Qur’aan 21:33]

“It is not permitted To the Sun to catch up The Moon, nor can The Night

outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along In (its own) orbit (According to

Law).” [Al-Qur’aan 36:40]

THE SUN WILL EXTINGUISH AFTER A CERTAIN PERIOD“And the Sun Runs its course For a

period determined For it; that is The decree of (Him) The exalted in

Might, The All-Knowing.” [Al-Qur’aan 36:38]

THE EXISTENCE OF SUBATOMIC PARTICLES“The Unbelievers say, ‘Never to

us will come The Hour’: say, ‘Nay! But most surely, By my Lord, it will

come Upon you – by Him Who knows the unseen – From Whom is not

hidden The least little atom In the Heavens or on earth: Nor is there

anything less Than that, or greater, but Is in the Record Perspicuous.’”

[Al-Qur’aan 34:3]

BARRIER BETWEEN SWEET AND SALT WATERS“He has let free the two bodies Of

flowing water, Meeting together: Between them is a Barrier Which they

do not transgress.” [Al-Qur’aan 55:19-20]

“It is He Who has Let

free the two bodies Of flowing water: One palatable and sweet, And the

other salty and bitter; Yet has He Made a barrier between them, And a

partition that is forbidden To be passed.” [Al-Qur’aan 25:53]

FRUITS CREATED IN PAIRS, MALE AND FEMALE

“And fruit Of every kind He made In pairs, two and two.” [Al-Qur’aan

13:3]

EVERYTHING MADE IN PAIRS“Glory to Allah, Who created In pairs all things that The earth produces,

as well as Their own (human) kind And (other) things of which They

have no knowledge.” [Al-Qur’aan 36:36]

FOETUS PROTECTED BY THREE VEILS OF DARKNESS

“He makes you, In the wombs of your mothers, In stages, one after

another, In three veils of darkness.” [Al-Qur’aan 39:6]

According to Prof. Keith Moore these three veils of darkness in the Qur’aan

refer to:

(i) anterior abdominal wall of the mother

(ii) the uterine wall

(iii) the amnio-chorionic membrane.

EMBRYONIC STAGES

“Man We did create From a quintessence (of clay); Then We placed him

As (a drop of) sperm In a place of rest, firmly fixed; Then We made the

sperm Into a clot of congealed blood; Then of that clot We made A

(foetus) lump; then We Made out of that lump Bones and clothed the

bones With flesh; then We developed Out of it another creature. So

blessed be Allah, The Best to create!” [Al-Qur’aan 23:12-14]

“Do not the Unbelievers see That the heavens and the earth

Were joined together (as one Unit of Creation), before We clove them

asunder?” [Al-Qur’aan 21:30]

The striking congruence between the Qur’aanic verse and the ‘Big Bang’ is

inescapable! How could a book, which first appeared in the deserts of Arabia

1400 years ago, contain this profound scientific truth?

THERE WAS AN INITIAL GASEOUS MASS BEFORE THE

CREATION OF GALAXIES

Scientists say that before the galaxies in the universe were formed, celestial

matter was initially in the form of gaseous matter. In short, huge gaseous

matter or clouds were present before the formation of the galaxies. To

describe initial celestial matter, the word ‘smoke’ is more appropriate than

gas. The following Qur’aanic verse refers to this state of the universe by the

word dhukhan which means smoke.

“Moreover, He Comprehended In His design the sky, And it had been

(as) smoke: He said to it And to the earth: ‘Come ye together, Willingly

The Qur’aan and Modern Science: Compatible or Incompatible?

or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We do come (Together), in willing

obedience.’” [Al-Qur’aan 41:11]

Again, this fact is a corollary to the ‘Big Bang’ and was not known to the

Arabs during the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). What then, could have

been the source of this knowledge?

It is mentioned in the quran 1400 years ago even before scientists found the genetic similarities of monkeys ,apes & humans. what scientists have found is true but their opinion of the theory of evolution is wrong. Quran is word of god & it has the information of past, present& future.God reveled to prophet Muhammad whatever god wanted to & kept some information only to god by reveling some & not reveling some. But still quran is 1 great source of information from God. Because of their constant defiance and blasphemy of GOD Almighty's Divine and Holy Words, not all jews but some Jews were transformed into swines and apes during Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) times: "Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from God? those who incurred the curse of God and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!" The Noble Quran, 5:60

Quran is not a copy of anything & there is no evidence to say such.statements in quran are against torah&bible.torah & bible has so many errors. & acording to sciense 80%of quran matches with sciense&other 20%of quran sciense doesn’t have answers maybe it will take couple of hundred years to find out for sciense.acording to historians original bible doesn’t exist anymore. Acording to islam torah&bible were books of allah but humans have destroyed their originality. so quran is the last &final word of god allah &Muhammad is the last&final messanger of allah. Quran is not copy of anything and its 100% word of god in islam. According to sciense torah &bibles statements have errors &Qurans statements are accurate &word of god is accurate.

To say that there is no god or there is they both should be based on facts and evidences. Just like stating Mr.X doesn't exist just because of lack of evidence. It doesn't proof that he doesn't exist. So if my neighbor Mr.X goes missing and police finds no evidence about him we can't just say he never existed! Humans have been part of this world about 6 million years according to some scientists. 1 million years ago there was no evidence for germs but they did exist! Still we are not sure whether aliens exist or not. The universe is like an ocean and the world is like a dust so what science has discovered it is not enough to make a scientific 100% proven statement that there is no god at all and science will never find god. If god exists science will be advanced enough 1 day to discover its mystery and it might take billions of years of research. But until then the claim of that there is no god is equally a blind faith as claiming that there is god for sure! So the best statement a logical person or a scientist could make is this that we don't know yet. Because science has yet to find much more then what we have now.

Even if 1 says the universe came from nothing that will contradict science because some scientists claim nothing comes from nothing! But some say something can come from nothing and in that case I can say god was created from nothing or is uncreated just like some claim the universe came from nothing but that contradicts the claim that nothing comes from nothing! So my point is sometimes even science can contradict science and be wrong rarely but it's possible because nothing is impossible. And calming that god exists doesn't limit the possibilities but calming it does not limits its possibilities. Just like 4+3=7 but 4 times 3=12 so both have possibilities and we can't just claim or deny something without having the proper knowledge and evidence of it. There is no scientific statement made by a scientist who shows whether god exists or not! So I can say I don't know is the best answer. but if I'm a Muslim or Christian I can also say I have faith in god but atheists claim atheism isn't a religion so an atheist can't say I have faith that there is no god! so yes I will state that I believe in my religion which tells me god exists so I have faith and I am a believer but I am not claiming I have the evidence that I can prove the world that Allah exists. I don't have a video record of god & if you want that type of evidence! But guess what god has no image so I can't show god to anyone period. Besides we are suppose to believe in the unseen and that's where the faith/believe plays its role! But atheists don't have faith in any god or on religion. According to Islam we will never see god in this life and god is in heaven not in you or me or anywhere else but up in heaven only! Yes I believe in hell and heaven and it's my choice just like you exercise yours by not having faith and its ok with me! But I disagree that atheists have an open mind since the basic system of atheism is based on denying others faiths no matter what they say and it's not that the scriptures don't have any scientific statements but because atheists simply don't want to believe! And it's a fact that atheists deny the facts found in religious scriptures just to stick to their views which aren't based on evidence but on blind faith. And they do this not because there is no evidence of scientific statements in the scriptures but because they don't want to believe perod!
