Question:
Atheists—how much doubt would you say you have about whether any gods exist or not?

Understanding that "atheist" means that you don't believe there are any gods or that you believe that there are no gods at all, still, being human, you could have doubts. So this question is about that.

On a scale of 1 to 10, number "ten" being that you have no doubt about there being SOME kind of gods or god, and number "one" being that you are absolutely positive that there are NO gods of any kind at all.

Please leave a comment as well, if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks!

I think a better question would be "Atheists, do you accept the infinitesimal possibility that there may be some creative force out there, however certain you may be that there is not?" I say this because, with another question, I answered that although I am as certain as I need to be that there are no mermaids, there COULD be. Likewise, no information available has convinced me that god is real or even possible, BUT there's a chance that new information will change that. It won't happen, but it could.

Doubt therefore is not the most apt word to describe the .000001% chance that God is possible that most of us accept.

Doubt, cupcake? Not a lot. I'm pretty sure I'm right, although, as an agnostic, I recognize the difference between knowledge and belief, and understand that I don't KNOW whether there are any gods - I just don't believe in any.

Sometimes I wonder about things, but that's different from doubting. I'd say that on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd put myself at about 0.5.

I often wonder why it's so important for believers to chivvy atheists into saying we have even a shred of doubt, saying that if we don't, we're being unreasonable. I notice that those same people who call atheists unreasonable if we don't admit to doubt give an absolute pass and never call believers - quite a lot of whom seem to spend an inordinately large amount of time babbling on about how they know their redeemer liveth and other such stuff - unreasonable on the same grounds.

Funny, that.

A person who is not 100% certain a magic god fairy is a bullsh!t fantasy is not an atheist.

Using your scale only a "1" would be an atheist, aka normal person. Everyone else would be an idiot.

From another answer: "For the number scale, I would say about 1.0001"

Sorry but you're an idiot.

Would you be at 1.0001 for the Easter Bunny? I didn't think so. Therefore you think magical god fairies are more likely than magical rabbits. That makes you an idiot. Please fix your problem because bible thumpers and terrorists love you 1.0001 people.

From another answer: " I'm pretty sure I'm right, although, as an agnostic, I recognize the difference between knowledge and belief, and understand that I don't KNOW whether there are any gods - I just don't believe in any."

This is bullsh!t and that's why I have extreme contempt for agnostic scum. He doesn't know whether there are any gods. Would he say the same thing about Easter Bunnies? Agnostics are a full of crap. Agnostics are agnostics because they're just plain stupid.

Atheists DO NOT BELIEVE in any gods or goddesses, or any form of deity. That’s the definition of the word atheist.

So, if anyone answers your question and says that they are an atheist, but they have doubts, that simply means they do not understand what the word atheist means, either.

People that have doubts about the existence of gods are usually classed under the category of agnostics, but an agnostic is defined as "a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.”

So, the best answer I can give you, is that the only name for people that are unsure about their belief in deities, is "people that are unsure about their belief in deities.”

There are no gods or devils. I believe in something after death just not Heaven or Hell. I mean you cant just die right.. Its too simple. Hard to explain in my opinion xD But there cant be a all mighty and powerful being up above the clouds that will not help our world that is falling apart. Its not possible. And dont say well just because you have not seen it doesnt not make it real. This isnt comparing something like a billion dollars. Yeah I have not seen it but its obviously real because lots of people have a billion dollars and can prove it. But no one can prove god.

5.

I am agnostic. Nobody can prove or disprove the existence of God. All anybody can do is form an idea about what the source of life is, whether it be a god or some kind of intelligent energy or life essence - which is all the same to me. What it really comes down to is personal experience, reasoning and/or feelings, not the opinions or beliefs of others.

Number one. I have absolutely no doubts at all. Having doubt wouldn't make me more "human", any more than allowing for a possibility that Santa Claus exists would make me more "human". A myth is a myth.

There are no gods in my reality, and of this I am sure. However, my sister is a Mormon and she has found alot of faith in her god that exists in her reality. I think that it is different for everyone and it all depends on the complex reality of a person.

1.00000000000.....1

That is, I'm as sure as I can be that there are no gods, but I do appreciate that there could be a god that created the universe (and maybe life as well) but never interacted with humanity.

1.

I've never observed any reliable evidence supporting the existence of a God, or Gods.

1.000000...1.

About as much worry as theists have that some other religion beside their own might actually be true. Or that unicorns might actually exist somewhere in the universe.

I would be minus 1,000,000 on that scale.

No supernatural gods whatsoever exist. That's factual reality.

I will use my scale of 0 to 9.

I have zero doubt that god/gods are not real.

I concede that I cannot "prove," in the scientific sense, the non-existence of any god - but I also cannot "prove" the non-existence of leprechauns or tooth-fairies. Logic, reason, and experience tells me, however, that the existence of any of these is highly, highly unlikely.

EDIT: For the number scale, I would say about 1.0001

I am just as certain gods don't exist as I am that leprechauns don't exist. Which is 100% certain.

None, that's why I call myself an atheist.

I acknowledge that a god could exist in the same way that I acknowledge that mythological creatures could exist.

Well I don't believe in god. I know that I could be wrong, traditional religions could be wrong, or we could all be wrong.

There is absolutely no evidence for existence of god.

Goblins, gods, pixies and elves are ALL equally imaginary...
