Question:
Is it me or are people against free speech in the R&S section?

A day doesn't go by that I don't receive a violation for asking or answering a question, and most of them aren't really offensive.
Are people against the constitution in this section?

You're not entitled to free speech on someone else's private domain (i.e.; Yahoo's Q&A Boards).

Their board, their rules -- they don't owe anybody else a soapbox from which to express their opinions.

If you don't like it, you can always start your own forum -- THAT is the true meaning of "freedom of speech".

I am a Christian and I am not against free-speech. I am not against other religions. However, when I speak the Truth, about Jesus Christ, others are often the ones who don't like it and get upset. I personally think that nudity and swear words should not be allowed on regular T.V. Am I going to make it my life's mission to have it taken off T.V.? No. I don't watch it, or allow my son to watch it. I think that there are some Christians who do make it their life's mission. I don't think that it is wrong, it's just not my way of handling it. It is not for others to judge all Christians based on this. I respect other people's views and opinions, but I think that if you state yours and I listen, then I should be able to state mine and you listen. Also remember that it's non-believers who do this sort of thing too. Remember the person who wanted God taken out of the "Pledge of Allegiance?" And that website is talking about Catholic's in India. Christians have just as much right to oppose things as anyone else. I think people just tend to get more offended when Christians do it. There are more people than just Christians who are against gay marriage, but they're usually the only ones you hear about opposing it. I hope that I have made a little sense, and maybe helped you to understand.

I've never received a violation, but I usually just answer questions and don't ask them too often. I read through your recent questions and didn't see anything that should have received a violation. Sometimes I see comments criticizing atheists and agnostics for answering/asking questions under R&S, but an open forum should always include a variety of viewpoints. Plus, many people are spiritual without being religious.

People that ask offensive questions are offensive within themselves. Just ignore those that are trying to make problems. They are only wanting to make statements and not ask questions.

I just wish we had a place to go where we could talk in peace and quiet and disagree as well as agree in that mode. These people here do not want to get along with anyone. Makes you wonder what home life is like, doesn't it?

I disagree with most of the posts on here, but I never try to be disagreeable. You don't have to agree with me. Please disagree with me peaceable and I will do the same.

I believe some people are. If I see a question I don't like, I just ignore it. I quit trying to report racist questions because Yahoo never seemed to do anything about it. If I see an answer I don't like, I usually ignore it, or if it's really out of line, I give it a thumbs down. Some people just can't handle someone who doesn't agree with them.

No, people are not against free speech in the R&S section.

You said, "...aren't really offensive."

Aren't really offensive according to who? The fact that you have to advert to the possibility your questions and answers might be offensive is a clear indication that you (like me!) might need to re-read the community guidelines, just to make sure.

Y!A is owned by Yahoo. They set the rules. There is no "free speech" here. I am amazed that anyone thinks there is.

Well sometimes people will ask a question and then later they will delete their own question, so anyone how has answered that question will have their answer deleted with the question that was deleted. However this is not always the case, there are some who report people just because they don’t like the question or the answer.

You myself and almost every Adult within this site is asking the same question. Where do you set the boundary? There is none to be quit truthful. I believe in self belief. I have my priority in religion and many of the others within the site have their belief. I believe what I have chosen to be. This does not open the door for me to slam their personal belief.

I remember about a year ago how totally nasty some people were. I think this has more to do with "Behavior Modification." Y/A is somehow evolving with or without us. R/S section is not one of my favorites here anyway. It's mostly: "MOOT" or open-ended topics anyway.

Free speech is not encouraged in this forum. Its ridiculous. The most innocuous things get reported if someone doesn't like you. Some of my favorite people are no longer here because of this and its a great loss.

You have pinched my thoughts..You have those taken in obsession to the point of idolatry.. the cotton-headed bores, chasing the merits of Yahoo's dispensation.... get in fast with howling sham. "Bart is hitting me" and Madge Yahoo takes the supposed easyway out ..I am new to this .. so I am not familiar with your answers .. Joyous banter nuanced with a bit of laughter is dangerous.. the TALiBAN and CJ might be watching

It's you. The US Constitution doesn't guarantee you the right to require a private company to publish your speech whether they want to or not.

If you are not a fundie expect a violation regularly. They hate to have their nonsensical beliefs challenged.

It's simply the results of the spiritual war that is waging.

So what about you? What will you say to God on judgment day when you stand before Him to give an account of your life? Will you end up in heaven or hell? Pride will say heaven, but an honest evaluation of yourself will show something different, because I'm sure you've broken God's law as well. So? Heaven or Hell? There's only one way to heaven, and that is by belief in the Lord Jesus Christ resulting in repentance and a changed life.

They're against people who disagree with them- and you shouldn't call people stupid (in a previous answer.) That would offend people.

Religious fundamentalists are almost always advocates and practicers of censorship. This forum is no different than any other in that regard.

answer for yourself the following questions about what Q&A got deleted:

did you get to say it?

did you get locked up or forfeit anything of real material value for saying it?

was your reputation (on this anonymous forum) besmirched in any way that would cause you to suffer any tangible loss?

were you, in fact, harmed in any way?

was any governmental body or entity involved?

now, check your answers and tell me how the constitution applies here..
