What's wrong with Jackie Mason.? Brilliant comic and philosopher. Kinky Friedman is another comedic talent and a great author. Lest we forget Jesus Christ, he was pretty remarkable himself, and still has quite an impact to this day.

So sorry, the talented and lovely Ms. Silverman is not exactly a trailblazer among Jews.

I think the one jewish comedian, producer, writer and director who is one of the first postive public jewish role modles is Mel Brooks. But there have been many others. Some of which you probily know but don't know are jewish.
