Why do Protestants hate Catholics and Vice versa. I have asked several religion based questions and read other

question that the answerers state Catholics are not Christian this seems strange to me as Prods and Taigues both seem to believe very similar things; that JC was divine and the Son of God who came to earth and gave up his life to save you from your sins. Many protestants I know rely on the Bible, but that bible is a translation, of a translation of the Vulgate, a latin Catholic Bible. I can understand prods not liking the papacy for obvious reasons of history but then there are some very dubious protestant leaders, like $$$ obsessed televangelists., and Prince Charles, who will one day be head of the Anglicans. I know Catholicism is highly ritualised, the famous, bells and smells but then there are some weird rituals for Prods too, like those serpent handlers. It aslo seems that historically both sides have done some horrible abomination: colonial genocides, wars, whichcraft trials. what do Catholics and Protestants think of other Christian Species...Mormons, Moonies, Orthodox, etc?

as an atheist (former catholic) i think. and my thoughts lead me to the conclusion that they are all misled children who choose to believe in some sky-king instead of empirical evidence. their ignorance facilitates all of the social injustices you have listed and many others. their religions are just tools of social control. they are blinded by their righteous vanity and ignorance. people of sense and intelligence need to appeal to the children of these misled people in hopes of breaking this cycle of ignorance.

Its a historical thing from Europe. Way back in the day everybody was Catholic, then the Catholic's decided to have a purge on there religion called the INQUISITION. This was basically to weed out anybody who did not believe what the Heads of the Catholic Church at the time wanted them to believe. Torture, death by burning, boiling and a varity of other ways resulted for all who were not classified as Catholic and for some who were the wrong type of Catholic.



Later is the UK expecialy the King was having a disagreement with the Catholic Church, about a samll matter of divorce and annulment of his marriage (Henry VIII), so he decided that as the head of his country, the KING of his country as appointed by GOD, that he did not have ot answer to the Pope but only to God - this caused a Scism and the UK was now no longer a Catholic Country but a Protestant country (basically Protestent means protesting against the Pope being the head of the Church). So the King decreed that all churchs in England would now answer to him and not to the POPE; a lot of Catholic's did not agree with this, so he had them burnt at the stake as traitor's.



When the King died, he was succeeded first by his son, and then by one of his daughters - his daughter decided to take the country backto Catholic - for those who did not agree, you guessed it she burnt them at the stake!! When his other daughter took over power, she decided to take the country back to protestentism, and more burnings occured.



This is why they don't really get on a great deal. Nothing to do with today really, just a historical thing.

long time ago early 1400s during the renaissance and the reformation on catholic churches ruled almost everything.. the peasants didnt like how it was because they didnt all believe in the ways of the church, people like luther wanted changes within the church and starting making there own religious things based on how they interpretted the bible. there was huge religious wars back then and many people were killed during that time. thats the main reason why protestants and catholics do not get along... a good movie to watch is anything of Queen Elizabeth 1 ..thats about the same era

I was a protestant for 30 years (I'm not sure I still qualify as a protestant, since I belong to a Messianic congregation now.), and I never hated Catholics. I think that they are wrong about some things, but they are just as much my brothers in the Messiah as are the Baptists and Methodists. I would probably even count many Mormons, Orthodox Jews, and others among my fellow believers if I had the chance to talk to them and get to know them better. -yk

I am protestant and I don't hate catholics I just believe that the way they practice is wrong. I believe that I alone can ask for forgiveness from my sins without a priests ears, and I don't believe that the pope is any closer to God than you or I.



The old testament was originally written in Hebrew and the new Testament in Greek, I am Lutheran and our Pastors have to learn both of these languages so that they can interpret the bible as it was meant to be read.



Other than that I am usually on the catholics side of most issues and have many catholic Friends.

It makes little sense to me, they both worship, pray to, and spread the word of Christ. If that isnt a Christian, than what is? Any theology that claims to have the One True Path is doomed to splinter and have inner conflict. Muslims have a similar situation with Shea, Sunni, and the Saudi branch all brutalizing each other because the others dont have the 'real message'. Its sad, self-destructive, and shows the dangers of fanaticism of any stripe. Moderation, acceptance, and tolerance are the ways to peace, but these virtues are not actually practiced in these death cults intent upon global conquest.

What difference does it make? I don't feel the need to wonder which religion is the right one because I have God in heart and that is all that I need. Jesus died on the cross for me and I accepted him and now I don't have to worry about it anymore. I'm so glad I don't have to answer to these hypocrites. God is my judge and so they can go ahead thinking like they do now, but Jesus said he was going to prepare a place for us and whoever worshiped the father must worship him in spirit and in truth. We don't need anymore evidence. If they couldn't believe in Jesus who came in the flesh then how can they believe in the father they have never seen. I don't believe in hating different religions because there is only one God to believe in anyway. Jesus told Peter (on this rock I will build my church). Peter (a disciple and close friend of Jesus denied him three times before he was crucified). Peter preached to the Jews. Some people believe the Catholic church was started by St.Peter. Paul preached to both Jews and Gentiles. Many religions major on minor issues.

basically, protestant religion came from catholism. see, the catholics were selling documents that they claimed would make it so you don't have to wait in Purgatory. Martin Luther doubted the Catholic church and told them that was wrong. At the time, the bible was written in Latin and only the clergy (including Martin Luther) could read the bible, so basically the catholic church was tricking people because no one could read the bible. so Martin Luther broke off from the church and started the Luthern Church (and Protestant religions soon followed. Also, the Catholics believe good deeds get you into heaven, Protestants believe it is the belief in Jesus. Hope that helps!

As a true Christian, I simply tell the truth of scripture out of love for other people...so other people can know how to have eternal life. While I may disagree with most "religions" in general , I don't hate others no matter what they believe.

because basicly both of their true taught has been modified which these days tend to be not the real taught.. it had been improving and being revised over and over again but finally it just goes with what the people would expect following with the interest and political will that run behind the rules and not actually came from the God's will

If someone believes everything that the Roman Catholic church says, I would not call them a Christian. The RC church has had rules that you must do to be saved. If you really believe the Bible, that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, then you don't need to follow any rites to be saved.

To Catholics, Christianity is a Religion based off of Runs.



To Protestants, Christianity is NOT a Reliriong based off of Love.



As a Protest Christian, I dont' "Hate" anybody, but I do belive that Catholics go to Hell because they have not (I apologize if I'm getting this wrong) asked Jesus into there Hearts. They do not have a "Relationship" with Jesus Christ and they do not understand why we "Love" Jesus.

This goes along with another writer John who wrote Revelations 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

What Paul was saying if a man or even angel comes to you and preaches a different gospel let him be accursed...



Joseph smith founder of the Mormons .. as well as the Islamic nation both said they got there writings from an angel...In which Muhammad says Jesus is nothing more than a prophet....Bzzzzzz..hold on ....that takes away from.... Rev 22:19..from who Jesus is....Next Joseph smith...says Jesus...was A God like lucifer...well...there doctrine is to far out there even more than Jehovahs witnesses...who by the way are supposed to be prophets...Bzzzz..wrong again there prophecys just have a way of not coming true since the 1914's...Ok they believe that Jesus was Micheal the archangel..before he took on ..his character as Jesus....Bzzz....BIG ding ...Jesus is and was God in the flesh always was they have a BIG problem they like to ....both add unto and take away from who Jesus is

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved....OK so..the catholics..tell you yes Jesus saves ..but Mary helps to...Bzzz..Man this is a tough audience..the catholics Add unto the salvation process..which is Jesus saves heals and delivers ...ONLY Jesus can He said in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me...Hmmm..I don't see anything in there about Mary..or for that matter...joseph,peter, John, ..St Christophe ..Hmmmnever even heard of him..oh well ..anyways..Man, so who does tell the world about nothing but the blood of Jesus will save you from sin ..which by the way all men have in the flesh..and without the shedding of Jesus' blood in your life there is no remission of sin..that through Jesus and him only can you be saved...Christians...bible believing Christians..spirit filled Christians...Now you know we don't claim perfection....there may be some out there telling ..something more..than Jesus...REMEMBER...what the bible says....
