Question:
Passion of The Christ?

O.K. So all my life I've been an agnostic. I've been thinking of coming to Christianity. I just rented Passion of The Christ. I haven't watched it yet. I think it's going to be very powerful. Has this movie ever made any of you question your religion or lack thereof? What are your opinions on this movie? Just curious...

When I saw this movie (I am a Christian), it was a really amazing experience. There are parts of it where I had to turn away, such as the scenes of Jesus being beaten nearly to death.

It touched my heart in many ways. When I came out...I felt "born again" again. It truly is, in my opinion, less a "movie" than a personal experience. Come back on and let us know what you thought of it.

While the movie takes a bit of theatrical license by including details that are not mentioned in the Bible, none of those details detract from the truth of the message.

Many people emerged from the theaters asking why it was necessary for Jesus to suffer so much. There is no single answer to that question.

Make sure you finish the whole movie, as the final scene is very plain, not the least bit bloody, but very inspiring.

To help other like you make sense of the movie, I wrote a book, titled "The Passion Behind the Passion".

I'll be totally honest with you... the movie is tremendously graphic... but so was the actual event. It's not easy to watch ( I say this because I literally weeped in the middle of the theatre where I first saw it.) Is it an attempt to recreate the actual events of the last hours of Christ, for the most part yes. I wish more so that His teachings would have been presented such as the plan of salvation, but this is a personal opinion. If you truly want to know the kind of torture that Christ went through for you and for me, then I say watch this film. It's as close as you're going to get without having been there yourself. I hope this helps you in making a decision for Christ. May God Bless you as you seek Him.

I have always been a Christian, but my faith wavered a little when I was first diagnosed with an extremely painful nerve disorder (Trigeminal Neuralgia). I took my Mom to see Passion of the Christ and it made my pain seem like nothing. The pain and suffering Christ endured on the cross was so intense and He knew it would be. The movie made me renew my faith in the Lord and grow stronger. I was able to endure my pain without whining to the Lord or asking, "why me?" The movie is VERY intense, so be prepared. You may want to watch it with a friend (preferably a Christian who can explain as needed). God bless.

The acting and sound and direction and costumes were awesome. But the idea behind it sucks. As the creators of South Park said, "That wasn't a movie, that was a snuff film. I won't pay to watch a guy get tortured for two hours. I watch a movie to be entertained."

By the way, THOUSANDS of people got crucified back in those days. Many of those people were innocent too. Everyone acts like Jesus was the only person ever to be crucified. It was a common thing and Jesus was just one of the many who managed to become famous.

Hey! I just watched the Passion of the Christ tonight. Oh my gosh. You should seriously watch it! I cried at all parts. You will be surprised that Jesus died for all of his enemies that He loved and for all of us. When you watch the movie, (which you majorly should) it takes you further than what you read in the Bible. I didn't think of the punishing that much and just thought that it was bad. But as I could actually SEE it, you feel ashamed. By the end, he was covered in blood and still had to carry His cross. Still, the guards mocked him but He loved them. This was a powerful movie. It will make your faith stronger for sure...it made mine.

Funny I saw this question! I was raised in a christian family where we were brought to church every week twice. We went to Christian school and listened to Christian music. My mother went to bible school and is a women's minister in her Church. I always believed and considered myself a Christian out of Faith and Hope. As I approached my late teens I started to be that rebellious preacher's kid. I'm not really sure why, but I did a fare share of "partying". I am 31 now, a wife, and a mother of two. I havn't really been attending church regularly or living as i really should be. However, very unexpectantly, the other night in my living room, I was watching The Passion with my husband, and WHAM!!!!!!!!! All my years of learning, hearing, and believing in Faith and Hope, have caused a blessing from God to flow upon me. It was an experience that completely changed my life forever. I would love to share this experience with someone. Please contact me if you would like to hear it. My husband was in the room with me and then outside with me when The Passion ended. I know it wasn't just me imagining something, and even if I could imagine up something like this, I wouldn't. This is because I wasn't sitting there begging God to show me anything, and I grew up hearing people talk about all kinds of crazy things and because nothing like that ever happened to me, I had a hard time deciding who I wanted to believe. I always thought if these things were happening to people, then why then could it not happen to me? Definitely watch The Passion!! If I can give you a piece of advice, it would be to watch it alone with your focus on Jesus. Realizing that He did not have to do what He did, and at any moment He could have made it all stop. also, realizing God had Jesus do this with your name in mind. Even if you were the only person here. God bless!

When you get done watching it and have cleaned up the box of tissue you have thrown on the floor, ask yourself if you have 1/10 that much love for one person to allow someone to do all he allowed them to do to him. Imagine all that evil, endured just for you, so you would be able to join him in heaven. Think about how peeved the Jews must have been when he arose from the grave and they had to do some serious covering up to make him seem like a sham. Read about the shroud of Turin and all of the scientific evidence that goes with it. In the end, look at the sunset and imagine he made that just for you to enjoy.

interest performs (plural) have been user-friendly interior the middle a while, and because few human beings spoke Latin, the language of the Bible, they have been in lots of cases adorned which includes areas from hymns and classic ideals. Even after the interpretation of the Bible into user-friendly language, they had non-Biblical factors further in them. the main standard version is the Oberammergau interest Play, which grew to become into particularly antisemitic. It has on condition that been edited to be much less so. It lasts 7 hours which incorporates a lunch wreck. i haven't considered Mel Gibson's action picture, yet whilst it includes classic factors from interest performs, that's the place distinctive the antisemitism ought to come from.

I wouldnt let your spirtuality coming into Christ to be dependant upon a single hollywood film.

That being said it is a powerful movie and i feel a great depiction of what Christ might have gone threw in his last few hours

Yes it is very powerful. It's a little dramatized, but that's Hollywood for you. My wife was very emotionally moved by it. I thought she was going to cry. For the most part, it's a very accurate depiction of the events in the New Testament, and did a great job of illustrating the gravity of Jesus's self-sacrifice and level of human suffering.

It's just a movie, read the New Testament and get from the story disciples that lived with him, try and forget that most of it is not as it was written due to translation but the jist is there, the message he was sent for and so on.

I'm a Christian, and it strengthened my belief. It made me realize just how much Jesus suffered, and to think He did it all for me so that I could be forgiven. It also made me think about how little most of us appreciate that sacrifice, that we can go through life not forgiving people for insignificant things that really don't matter in the long run.

I watched it again today. I saw it at the theater when it came out. Our Pastor recommended it to our church. I found it very emotionally moving...to see someone I love so much (Jesus) give so much for our sins! If anything, this movie strengthened my love for Jesus, as I cried to think that he didn't have to do this. God chose this death for His Son as a way for us to come to Him...the way to God is through Jesus Christ! Understand, God and Jesus are one with the Holy Spirit...all of whom existed in heaven before man was created. Jesus had to come down here and live like we do...which assures me that He knows how we feel when like gets tough. He's been here, too.

i love the movie but i also love the Lord and am already a christian, and yes it makes you question your religion. of any kind. because thats what it needs to do. the bible seek you first the kingdom of God and all other will be added unto you. so yes question your religion and seek God with prayer. be of a open mind and heart. It will not hurt you to recieve and believe in Christ. only if you do not.

I watched it and have asked a number of other people who have also watched it their opinion and their feedback was the same as how I felt; two hours of watching some one, even if that someone is half immortal, being tortured is a tad two hours long. My opinion.

This strengthend my faith, and the desire to follow Christ better in my everyday life...

Do not misenterpret the movie.... the Jewish religious leaders, were currupt and hypoctritical, they were put in place by the evil King Herod... they wanted Christ death

the film is not anti-Semetic.... Jesus was Jewish, the Jews are God's chosen people.... the Romans killed Jesus.

the Christians and Jews are supposed to be best friends...

All of the athors of the Bible were Jewish... Jesus loved the Jewish people...

Jesus gave men the athority to kill Him, because He had to save the world...

We cannot be saved by our good deeds, or religious rituals.... it is by God's grace alone, the choice to recieve Christ as our savior, that we are saved...

the movie revealed to me how much Jesus did just to save me, just to save you, just to save us all... if you would ask and accept Him and His forgiveness.

God bless you and yours...

The movie is so historically accurate, and a bit graphic. I was amazed that Jesus went through more for me than I would have gone through for my self. You will cry when you experience the sacrificial love of our Savior. God bless.

It pictures the last 8 hours of Jesus's life, and they show you all the torture and crucifixion things, plus that it was the Jews who asked for him to be crucified, NOT the Romans.

------>P.S: I only belive that the Jews asked for Jesus to be crucified, but if you looked at the truths you'll find that Jesus was never crucified, but a similar did (Judas), God made people think they crucified Jesus, but in fact they didn't.

Even the doctrine of "Blood shed to forgive sins" is made up, read this question of mine:

4.153. The People of the Scripture ask of thee that thou shouldst cause an (actual) Book to descend upon them from

heaven. They asked a greater thing of Moses aforetime, for they said: Show us Allah plainly. The storm of lightning

seized them for their wickedness. Then (even after that) they chose the calf (for worship) after clear proofs (of Allah's

Sovereignty) had come unto them. And We forgave them that! And We bestowed on Moses evident authority.

154. And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the

gate, prostrate! and we bade them : Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant.

155. Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their

slaying of the Prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened Nay, but Allah hath set a seal upon them

for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few

156. And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny;

157. And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger They slew him not nor

crucified, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no

knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture ; they slew him not for certain,

158. But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, wise.

159. There is not one of the People of the Scripture but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of

Resurrection he will be a witness against them

160. Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews We forbade them good things which were (before) made lawful unto them,

and because of their much hindering from Allah's way,

161. And of their taking usury when they were forbidden it, and of their devouring people's wealth by false pretences.

We have prepared for those of them who disbelieve a painful doom.
