I posted a question similar to this one a while back, but I asked the wrong question, I am hoping to get the answer I am looking for tonight. I want to know what God thinks about homosexuality, and people who are bisexuals. Why? I just joined this new group and some of its members are homosexuals and I think they are great and as fun as anybody else....actually they're more fun ... lol! So I was wondering, what about their behavior doesn't God like apart from the fact that they like the same sex? coz I can't figure it out... Plz don't say god hates them or anything, coz he does not. And no one is gonna change my mind about that. And another question.... If they are very good persons and believe in God and so on... Will they go to heaven, even if they were gays? I think they should... help =)

God says in Leviticus 18:22 ----

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." -- King James Version

"Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin" -- Living Bible

"Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin." --- New Living Translation

God views homosexuality as a sin...just like every other sin; lieing, cheating, stelaing, lust...all of it is sin and it is all equal. God commanded that sex be between a man and woman so that they can reproduce and can fill the world. A man and a man or a woman and a woman cannot do this. Although homosexuality goes against what God says and commands, they can still be christians..they are just living in sin ..just like everyone else that is not homosexual. A church should not LOOK DOWN on people that are homosexual , but homosexuals should not be leaders of the church, just like someone who knowningly lives through sin (adulterers etc) shouldnt. Everyone lies and is greedy at some point in their life, but its not a day to day lifestyle choice, homosexuals CHOOSE to live their life like that day to day..but it doesnt mean their sin is any bigger, they are just further away from an awesome relationship with the Lord.

DM, you're fortunate you received so many honest answers. Homosexuality is indeed a sin, and God calls it an abomination in His word, and that is very serious. There are many so called "churches" that teach you can be a homosexual and God is fine with that. This is a terrible lie.

If a person says there are a Christian, but continues to sin and not care about their sin, that is a contradiction in terms.

Yes, an unrepentant homosexual will go to hell. Like any other sin, if you continue in that sin, don't care that you are committing it, and don't care that God says to stop doing it, you will not gain salvation. The bible says in 1st Corinthians that homosexuals will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

First of all every human on this planet is a child of God, therefore, He loves each and every one of us no matter our behavior.

The answer that you don't want is partially the answer you just might get. You mention in your question that you think gay people are "great and as fun as anybody else." This really has nothing to do with it as we will not be judged on how much we can entertain others, but the thoughts and desires of our hearts.

To understand Christians, if that is what you truely want to do, I would suggest at least reading the New Testament. There you will find that one of the important teachings is to do the will of the Father or to do the will of God. When Christians pray it is not to only to give thanks, or ask for those things that we need, but also to try to align our will with that of the Father.

One of the most fundamental parts of God's plan for us as his children is the Family unit, Father, Mother, and children. This is to be repeated generation after generation. Gay people, no matter how popular they are cannot continue this cycle, and in a way it is a sign of selfishness, ingratitude, and pride. These are all things that God does not like. People who choose to be gay are truely seeking after their own will and not that of the Father. As with many other topics, this is the root of sin, so it is not unique to "gays" but due to the powerful nature of the reproductive power you can see how offense can build quickly.

The only family unit that will be in Heaven will be that of Man and Woman as they are the only ones that can have increase. Man on Man or Woman on Woman cannot have increase.

There is greater detail to this, but I didn't think it would be appropriate for answers. See the sites below for more details.

Edit - To answer your edit. Yes, as long as Gay people do not act on the lifestyle they will be able to enter into covenants with the lord like baptism, etc. Even get married to a person of the oposite sex if they so choose, and then so obtain all the blessings the Lord has to offer them.

Yes, it is difficult to control your sexual urges until the time approved by God but that is what he asks of all of us. I am hetero, but did not have sex until I was married to my wife at the age of 23, and have not been with anyone else. I am now 32. That is what God asks of us, like I said before we need to use our self control and place our will in line with that of the Father. This goes with Alcohol, theft, idolotry, and everything else as well.

Edit again - Sorry, I just noticed that you mentioned vows of celibacy that too is not exactly what God had in mind. The goal is to get as many people to earth as possible. But that falls under sins of omission (not doing what you are supposed to do) instead of a sin of comission (doing what you are not supposed to) and is lesser in gravity. Bottom line, everyone should get married.

Don't forget whom Jesus came to save. He did not come to save those who don't need saving.

I think homosexuals are God's children, as we all are. I think the practice of homosexuality is a sin.

We are all sinners. Every single person on this earth is a sinner. There are verses in the bible that mention it as a sin, but there are verses in the bible that mention divorce, and adultery, and a lot of other sins as well. People don't get a high horse about those topics. Because they like to point to someone else as being a sinner, and look at themselves as being righteous. Only Jesus knows who will be saved. But I think that He loves each and every one of us, is not one to let us go.

I would just imagine that God created every single thing on this earth with certain, functions, aspects and purposes then I ask my self what purposes do man and woman serve and what purpose does sex serve and ask would God be happy to see two men having sex with one another and if He would think they are serving the purpose of the organs used in this "encounter" or the purpose of sex itself

Christians believe that homosexual acts are sins. God is hurt by the sin, not the sinner. Heaven will rejoice at the repentance of one sinner.

Being gay does not affect salvation. What does is accepting Christ as your savior and repenting of your sins.

God loves the sinner, but not the sin. In Leviticus is says that a man should not lie with a man the way a woman does and that it's detestable.

Why would you even ask such a silly question, the bible is clear and will not be changed, God has spoken and abomination it is so they will just have to live with it, remember God is no respecter of man and his judgement on all sinners will be swift.

Homosexuality is an abomination of God's word.....God hates homosexuality...not the people that claim to be homosexual....If they are Christians and resist the homosexual lifestyle they can go to heaven....

Regarding Peasoup's answer, Homosexuality was not created by God, but by mankind.
2008-11-10 03:19:43 UTC
I'm sure God thinks it's just fine, since he invented it.

Regarding Phat P's answer: there is homosexuality throughout the animal kingdom. Mankind didn't invent THAT.

""god"" is not spoused to judge. i dont think it matters what "god" would want or do. god has nothing to do with ppl getting married gay or straight.
