I am a convert to Islam from Judaism, and have two questions.

Can I still continue to wear my Kippah (skullcap)? Also is it permitted to do both prayers? I still want to continue following Jewish law/traditions and prayers as well as Muslim prayers.

Jewish answer: You are no longer considered a Jew. You are an apostate and FORBIDDEN to participate in Jewish rituals, in the religion and in the community. You CANNOT be both because your beliefs are now blasphemous in Judaism.

Go and be happy with your new covenant, you abandoned the old one. Both lead to Gd but you CANNOT travel two roads at the same time. Stop trying

Salam,

(I'm not a specialist so this is just my opinion)

1- The Kippah is something the Rabbis made up and made it an obligation for all Jews (oral law), so it's better to avoid it because the prophet ordered us to stay away from other people's traditions and man made laws.

2- I'm a Muslim and I read from the Torah and Psalms very often, I find them to be great books. The Quran corrects what has been altered in the previous Books so some prayers are very similar ... So any prayer that doesn't contradict the teachings of Islam is okay just don't forget to READ God's name as Yehovah and NOT Adonai. (psalm 138 & 23 are very good prayers)

As for the 3 daily Jewish prayers .. I don't think it's okay unless you're hiding your faith. You can do more than 5 prayers a day but you do them the Islamic way, I sometimes just bow down and keep praising and praying.

Assalamalecum,we have to live as per the commandments of Allah and prophet Muhammad S.A.W (pbuh), there is no wrong in wearing skullcap but don't mix any tradition with islam, Alhamdulillah u r now a Muslim so pray according to islamic guidelines.Allah forbids innovation in islam in ch 5 v 3 of Quran, Allah in ch 3 v 85 says if anyone choosesrreligion besides islam it will not be accepted and he will be obe of the loosers in hereafter.

Salam bro..

wear these -->> http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/140858566/1_Pcs_Turkish_100_Cotton_font_b.jpg

In islam, we are not allowed to resemble a religious dress or a religious practise of other religions.... which has already not been prescribed within islam... so you should avoid the religious practises/dresses of judaism...... the cultural practises are okay as long as there is nothing that goes against islam..

assalamualaikum

1- it is extremely disliked to wear what resembles another religion in islam.

u cud wear the muslim skull cap. it is very similar just a little bit bigger in size.

2- about the jewish prayer, who is it being offered to? what are u saying in it? Allah has already prescribed to us a way of performing salah. by doing what the prophet mohammed peace be upon him did not do, we are doing bid'ah or deviation n all forms of deviation lead to disbelief.

so as for jewish prayer- definitely no.

u can however, do duaa or supplication holding ur hands to god n in it ask whatever u like to him in arabic or english or hebrew,

No you have to leave Jewish rules behind and follow Islam alone. You cannot follow the rules of two faith in Islam.

Assalam-u-Alaikum brother. I pray that may Allah guide you in this regard and guide us all towards Himself. I have heard 2 view-points.

A. Clothing;

1. Cultural clothing is no issue as long as it is within the Islamic criteria of decency etc.

2. Religious symbols of other religions should be avoided. A Muslim is supposed to appear different than other religious people.

B. Prayer;

Any prayer and any language is ok ( along with the obligatory Islamic one) as long as there is no shirk ( polytheism) involved and is pure and beautiful.

Allah knows best and please do pray for me.

If the Kippah is Cultural Jews(Race) Costume , then there is nothing wrong in wearing it.

You can pray (Dua) in Hebrew but you can't adopt Jews (Religion) prayers , you also can't use Hebrew in prayer (Salat).

The Kippah is similar to the Traditional Arab Taqqiyah so it shouldn't be an issue,

In Judaism we pray 3 times a day, I would like to pray 3 times a day in Hebrew Jewish prayers as well as doing Islamic prayers in Arabic.

As a muslim, it is not permissible to wear things that make you look like you are of another faith. So the skullcap would be impermissible. Not sure what you mean by both prayers.

haha, yea, the muslims are really welcoming to other faiths and allow anyone to practice other religions without trying to kill them or cut off their heads.

the kindness and open nature of islam is well known..........

however their sense of humor is not as noticeable.
