I don't like either of them.
What is Wicca?
I remember a number of years ago asking my dad for the first time about Wicca. The word itself sounded innocent enough to my child mind but I knew by the look on my dad's face that it could neither be innocently or easily defined. Even though I'm older now, have done research on my own, and have my own convictions about such things as Wicca, my dad's original definition has stuck with me.
"It's witchcraft," he said, which didn't help me out much, but I nodded with raised eyebrows as if I knew precisely what he was talking about. He went on to explain, "It is basically communication between humans and the spirit world." Maybe he was trying to make it sound simple, but either way, the definition is much deeper than this. Not only is witchcraft and sorcery communication with the spirit world, it is such interactions that deal with the dark spirits, the evil ones, for magical and superhuman abilities and powers.
Wicca symbolizes more than just a human chatting with a spirit and is much more dangerous and sinful than an ordinary conversation with your neighbor. The need to know, connect, familiarize, and become close with darkness is a tantalization of the devil because, after all, he desires that we all enter into his world of lies and deception.
To practice Wicca is to become entangled with a world which we were never meant to get involved. The symbolic messages of Wicca, those of enchanting and awe-inspiring power, draw us away from God, and cause us to pursue another love than He. Wicca symbolizes ordinary measures taken to superhuman lengths and is a clearly defined message of dark evils that beckon followers down a slippery slope of deception.
Wicca Spells - What is Wicca?
What is Wicca and what are Wicca spells? While it is rooted in ancient pagan beliefs, the Wicca religion, as it is practiced now, is only about 50-years-old. Wicca is a belief system cobbled together in the 1940's and 1950's by Gerald Gardner from a variety of religious traditions and beliefs as well as Freemason rituals. Since Gardner published several books espousing his system of worship, many offshoots and variations of Wicca have sprung up.
There is no particular agreement between Wiccans, or "wise ones" concerning what they believe and worship. Some worship the "Goddess," some worship the "God," and some worship both. Others worship nature. Some Wiccans say they embrace Christian doctrine, while others reject it. Most promoters of Wicca believe in reincarnation.
One thing most Wiccans agree on is the fact that Satan is not a part of their pantheon and they vehemently deny Satan-worship as one of their practices. This is because they disavow the notion of moral absolutes. There is no such thing as good or evil, because it is all relative. Wiccans have only one law that they bind themselves to, called "The Rede." It simply states, "Do what ye will, harm ye none." In other words: "Do what ever you want to as long as no one gets hurt." The Three-fold Law governs consequences, and is a law of returns that states, "All good that a person does to another returns three-fold in this life; harm is also returned three-fold."
Wicca Spells - Mind Control
What about Wicca spells? Not all Wiccans practice witchcraft (which they call "magick" to set themselves apart from illusionists and magicians). Magick is to Wicca what prayer is to Christianity. Wiccans claim that the practice of magick is simply using their minds to control matter, while Christians call upon God to heal people and to intervene and work in their lives. Because the Rede forbids harming others and the Three-fold Law sets forth consequences for those who do, Wiccans view themselves as "white witches" or "nature witches."
Wicca is basically a religion that is about minding your own business and living peaceably with your neighbors and environment. Wiccans are eager to draw parallels between themselves and biblical Christianity for the sake of earning credibility, but what does the Bible have to say about this religion? You won't find the word "wicca" in the Bible, so let's evaluate the beliefs in light of what God says about them.
Wicca spells are idolism - Romans 1:25 says, "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things, rather than the Creator…" Who wants to settle for second best? In Isaiah 40, God paints a very cool picture of how much greater the Creator is than His creation. If you are worshipping anything besides the Creator, you are just spinning your wheels.
Wicca spells bring false hope - Hebrews 9:27 says, "…Man is destined to die once, after that, to face judgment." God says we get one chance at life, and that is it. There are no do-overs. If we don't accept God's gift of Jesus in our lifetime, He judges us as unwilling to be in His presence, and we are sent to Hell.
Wicca spells bring disillusionment - Mark 7:8 says, "You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men". God is God, and we are not. We have a decision to make. Are we going to take God at His word and adopt His worldview, or not? Knowing God is hard work that takes a lot of discipline. Wicca is a religion that takes a pack of lies, ties it in a romantic ribbon, and searches out a well-intentioned, but lazy and gullible mark to sell its hollow doctrines.
Wicca spells bring rebellion - Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, "Let no one be found among you who… practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells…Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD..." Wicca witchcraft is a sin and God hates it. Why? Because it is an attempt to cut off our dependence on God and get answers apart from Him.
Wicca Spells - Separation from God
This is what sin is all about. Sin isn't just a heinous, socially disagreeable action. Sin is our decision to disagree with God on any topic - to rebel against Him. Sin is saying, "God, I want to live my life MY WAY." Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death…" This isn't bodily death, this is spiritual death: eternal separation from God and all the blessings that His presence brings. This is the definition of Hell: the absence of God's presence. That is what our sin buys for us.
Thankfully, Romans 6:23 doesn't end there. It goes on to say, "…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." God knew that we would all rebel in one way or another, and he provided a way for us to avoid that separation.
What are Wicca love spells?
You may find many web sites on the Internet that will perform or tell you how to do a Wicca love spell. There are spells available for creating love, passion, lust, lost love, affection, and even spells for breaking up. What are these spells all about? Those performing the spells claim high success rates and say the spells can only be performed by someone skilled in the art of Wicca love spells.
A true follower of Wicca believes a Rule of Thrice - anything you do good or bad will come back to you three fold. Therefore is a love spell a good idea? A love spell does not enhance love but enslaves another's emotions and strips them of their free will. Should someone chance being enslaved three times back?
Everyone is looking for unconditional love. We want someone to come along that will love us like no other, someone who will be faithful, understanding, and devoted. Will this ever happen? Is unconditional love even possible, even with a spell? Yes, it is possible, but not through a love spell. Unconditional love is available through one Person only and that is Jesus Christ. How do I know? I've experienced it! I realize that Jesus Christ is my only hope of unconditional love. He is the only Person who can fulfill my need of love. You see, He died on the cross for me to pay my penalty before a Holy God. He loves me so much He died for me!
Wicca witches - good or evil?
Although "Wicca witches" is apparently two different pseudo religions, the two are often linked and the terms are mixed.
Wicca is a religious movement which combines elements also associated with Witchcraft or "the craft." Both Wicca and witchcraft draw heavily on nature and the elements around us. They are both an attempt to fulfil a deep desire within each person to find God.
Each of us is searching for something to fill a deep felt spiritual space within us and Wicca or witchcraft seeks to fill this void. Wicca generally believes in a duo-theistic deity - a goddess and a god. The goddess has three aspects, Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Wiccians also worship "Mother Earth" or Gaea.
Do how do we know if Wicca witches are good or evil? Let's investigate what the Bible says. The Bible condemns any religion who worships more than one God - that being the God of the Bible. It also warns against a group who follows a way of salvation that is different than the biblical way of salvation. In fact, the Bible is clear about witchcraft:
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you."
Many people are drawn to Wicca or witchcraft because they seek power. They are drawn into the occult and away from God who is the author and source of all life. Instead, they find the only power is to enslave and ensnare them, leaving them in bondage to a god who is no god at all.
What is Christian Wicca?
Christian Wicca is a combination of Wicca and a form of Christianity. They base their practices on the Bible, Wicca, Kabbalah, and the Gnostic Gospels. Most practitioners of Christian Wicca believe that God is manifested to us through the Father, the Son, and the mother. They believe the Holy Spirit is female and is referred to by many as the Spiritual Mother.
Is Christian Wicca compatible with Christianity? Why do they want to merge the two belief systems? Christianity is absolute about the fact that there is only one God, the Creator of the universe who sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to provide salvation to mankind. In fact, the Bible commands that there is only on God. Wicca believes in two deities - a god and a goddess. The main point of these two belief systems do not agree. How can they be compatible?
The next point on which they differ is Mary. Christianity says that Mary was a mortal woman who gave birth to an immortal child. The Bible forbids the worship of Mary. Wicca places Mary on the same level as God Himself.
Christians believe in the sinfulness of man. According to the Bible, all people are born sinners. Wicca says that sin is the result of our actions.
Christian Wicca is not possible because the terms are an oxymoron! The theologies do not agree. In fact, the Bible denounces witchcraft and many of the practices of Wicca. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, "Let no one be found among you who… practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells…Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD..."
What may look like a simple and harmless act of entertainment or assistance is actually a mask on the devil's detour signs, pointing and directing us away from God and away from His Word. As his children, we are to follow after him and not after other sources of what may seem to be legitimate powers or influences. If we love God with all our hearts we will not halfheartedly seek him while dabbling in the dark corners of Wicca, nor peruse the enchantments of witches and sorcerers to discover enlightenment.
Wicca is the devil's tool, and was created, as it says is John 10:10, " . . . to steal and kill and destroy; I [Jesus Christ] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
