I don't live in USA but the majority of protestant churches in my city came from USA like pentecostals,mormos,ect.. they say halloween is a devil holiday but in USA they celebrate.. I have seen some evangelical churches celebrate an alternative halloween why? it's because evangelicals don't remember their dead people as catholic do in the days all saints day..

Hallow Eve Traditions.

For all Christians and non-Christians; Halloween is a tradition, which is performed by the Roman Catholic Church on the eve of all Saints Day. The problem is the Wording. Halloween is a word that is highly mispronounced. The original word is: Hallow Eve. Meaning; Holy Eve! The word hallow comes from the Lords Prayer. “Hallow be thy Lord’s Name.” The word Eve is the evening, before the following day set for all Saints Day; Nov 01. All Saints Day is reserve to honor and to pray, for all the Saints in Heaven.

On the following day the Church reserves the day to pray (known as indulgences) for Souls of the deceased families and friends who have died in the state of grace and are hopefully in Purgatory.

Church teaches, that with our prayers; the deceased will lessen their suffering in Purgatory and will be with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.

In the early part of the Roman Catholic Church in England, the children would go around asking the parents of the deceased to place the names of their deceased in a basket and they would give them to the church. The Church would then pray for their deceased. In gratitude the children were given Treats for their work. Thus comes the custom of today in the words “trick or treats,” by the children

Sadly, "Glow" is almost right. Although Christians don't "steal" holidays, they certainly don't realize the danger of observing them in God's eyes.

God literally HATES mixture of His precepts with anything Pagan, and Christmas, as well as Easter, both have Pagan origins.

Believers who finally recognize this fact, turn away from those things and celebrate the Lord's Feasts and Sabbaths, which Yeshua/Jesus commanded us to do. After all, HE did. We can't claim to be following Him unless we actually WALK the way He did.

My church has a Harvest Festival on Halloween as an alternative for those who don't believe in Halloween. For my church this is a HUGE outreach to the community and many come to the church who would otherwise never be seen in church. Here they can have fun and learn about Jesus, and learn that church isn't all fuddy duddy's banging you over the head with a Bible, but it can be a place of love and fun.

Now, don't even start mixing up Halloween with All Saints' Day. Christians remember their Dead at All Souls' Day. That's Nov. 2 FYI.

All saints day was a failed attempt to get the pagans to convert to Christianity. Christmas and Easter succeeded with being acceptable. Anyone who doesn't celebrate Halloween for that reason needs to get over themselves and not celebrate Christmas or Easter either, because it originated in the same fashion. All the traditions are pagan, not Christian at all.

oh yeah and by the way the USA is NOT a religious based country. One religion does not dictate our holidays. Christmas has for years lost it meaning and so has Easter. it is all about capitalism now, not Jesus.

Mostly because, even though they are Evangelical Christians, they possess some ability to distinguish harmless make-believe from reality.

Christianity adopted halloween from pagan religions. So they really have no reason to celebrate it.

Halloween used to be alot more innocent when I was a kid. Now? Just downright evil

Same reason they celebrate Christmas. Stealing things from pagans.
